John Krasinski, who made a name for himself as Jim Halpert on the hit comedy The Office, stepped into the director’s chair to bring us A Quiet Place in 2018. The movie, starring Krasinski and his real-life wife Emily Blunt, was a massive success and was one of the standout movies of the year.
The movie does raise some questions though. Like why was the Abbott family so irresponsible in the opening scene? Why are the alien/monsters so inconsistent in what they can hear and how they attack? What’s up with that waterfall scene, and that nail scene on the stairs? Did Lee really have to sacrifice himself at the end? And what’s up with the happy quirky ending?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to A Quiet Place! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

@@stephanewd Sure, but being sick and cold might be preferable to being dead.
@@jebeda... You do know you can die from illnesses, right? From pneumonia to hypothermia, there are plenty of serious illnesses that makes it not a good idea to stay near the waterfall without proper structures to provide protection.

"What?"
"Or maybe install some speakers on the side of a cliff that play loud music so the aliens fall off the cliff if they try to attack the music?"
"I dunno, maybe the aliens are good climbers."
"Or have some noise makers playing in the middle of a minefield?"
"Okay, I'm really going to need you to get off my back with ways to survive these monsters."
@@gortab Well, if the aliens destroy the wood chipper or the speaker, then it gets quiet (they would slash at the source of the sound). And it seems the aliens can "stick" to the walls (to some level) -- their stick ability won't help them from a concaved pitfall though (a big jar-like pitfall). And I assume they have high durability to take mine explosions -- otherwise, they'd be dead long before the movies began.
@@gortab I'm now imagining tucker and dale versus the quiet place aliens.
@@michaelsong5555 No doubt. These aliens have to be able to survive 7.62 rounds or they would have been handled. Presumably they can also penetrate through steel armor plating and concrete. Haha, I also love how Ryan manages to conjure up ways to fit this line into every single one of his pitches! 🤣
Saying super easy barely a inconvenience is tight
wow wow OOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
It's not the "not screaming while birthing" part, but the "keeping the baby from crying loud enough for the monsters to hear" part that is the most challenging
There was a whole generation of women giving birth in the soviet era when if they were too annoying for the medical staff they were bullied and abused. That meant not making too much noise. Back than you were not allowed anyone with you till it's over. It's only way into the 90's when the whole initiative of giving birth without abuse got friction. You could bring someone with you, which meant a more respectful atmosphere, better support and help and made all the difference for the young mothers who didn't have to rely on bribing half of the staff or being married to some important party leader or general.
You really hit this nail on the head, if you think about it these monsters would be "super easy, barely an inconvenience" for humans to stop before they turned the world into a horror scenario.

Yeah. As much as I like this movie, that was a pretty big goof. I usually rationalize it by saying that these two people who are obviously attracted to each other have no one else to help them cope with not having sex. They have no friends around, they clearly wouldn’t discuss it with their children, which just leaves each other, whom they’re both (pardon my gutter talk) horny for.
But even then I concede it’s a pretty weak argument.
Spoken like my parents after they had me! Wait....
It goes to show you that even when birth control is free people still have unprotected sex.

But once he mentioned that it raises the obvious question of why the military didn't establish huge speaker systems at fortified locations and just tear the aliens apart when they came to investigate. Also why they didn't experiment with different frequencies, noises, and volumes once they realized how sensitive the alien's ears were.
I woulda went straight for feedback. I've got speakers that are ABOVE the amp limit for the amplifier, and specialty ear plugs. So I could go to town. You'll never overload.
