Go watch the sabaton history video after you finish recording reactions... Over half will have a history video explaining the song, and will help you understand them better, but since the history videos have a little spoiler for the song I would understand you not watching them first. This is just so later you can understand... because almost all of their songs refer to specific events.
Yes, this did happen. Sabaton is known for its historical accuracy and majestic ballads. 1916 is another of their songs based on events during WWI, written by Motörhead. You need to listen all the way to the ending of their videos to gain more insight into the events.
Even the part where they hear distant combat while still playing their game was true. This truce was not across the whole front, just some sections of trenches.
This is a celebration of a real event, the script is based on letters written home by the participants. The cross is a replica of one erected just outside Ypres, Belgium. Most of the over 100,000 participants couldn't bring themselves to shoot at their newfound friends and were relocated to other parts of the line.
Sabaton has a sabaton history channel that educated o. The subject matter of each song. 1916 was the link at the end of the video. It is a tribute to Motorhead covering Motorhead's song 1916, it will probably wreck you. It does me, it is about the battle of the Somme.
This is a tear-jerker from beginning to end. I've watched it dozens of times over the last two years and it still chokes me up every time. The one part that got to me more than any other is the scene at the end where Par is carving "2021" in the cross. The chorus of the song is, "Our moment of peace in a war that never ends." I believe this 2021 scene is reminding us that that war STILL has not ended! We have just been in an extended moment of peace. I fear that glorious moment is rapidly coming to an end for us though. We have a very dangerous year ahead of us. 😢@@RNTV (A side note: There was another popular song written about this event a long time ago. It was Snoopy & the Red Baron from the Peanuts cartoon series.)
In the future when you do a Sabaton music video check there History channel Sabaton History and see if they have made video what that song tale is connected of in history as its a good thing to learn, i se Sabaton as a history teacher that we all need @@RNTV :)
Yes, this event did actually happen on Christmas 1914 - the only time it's ever happened. I'm a 73 year old Vietnam War veteran, and I can't even imagine something like this happening. It shows both the very best of humanity and the very worst of humanity. Peace!
Same situations, although never again on this scope, happened in nearly every war but they get mostly surpressed since it didn't fit the narrative. There are dozens of war diaries from WW2 of British, American and German soldiers, meeting each other, talking or sometimes just trading insults but never firing a shot. Most humans don't want to kill another and if they get a chance to just part ways they mostly did so. After WW2 all Major powers changed their training to beat this little bit if humanity out of their soldiers. Lindybeige did a very fascinating video about this topic with statistics showing how war changed forever.
I´m only 59 and never have been in a war. So with all respect, i think majority of worlds population would not wan´t war. It is our rulers who starts them.
@@ristorinne5817 Yes of course, but it's always the silent majority who give them the power to do so and nearly always with the same rethoric: "they" want to kill us so we need to strike first.
Welcome to Sabaton. The video is so good because it was made by people who usually make movies. Moviemaking also stopped when the world shut down, so they had time for this. Formed in 1999, most of their songs are about Military History. Lead singer Joakim Broden and bassist Par Sundstrom( the guty at the cross at the end) are the primary songwriters , and only original members left. Drummer Hannes van Dahl( the 1st guy out of the trenches), joined in 2014, guitarist Chris Rorland (1st out on the other side) joined 2012, and guitarist Tommy Johansson ( battlefield guitar solo) joined 2016. Joakim has said this song is actually a waltz. The opening piano part is a variation of Carol of the Bells. For more Sabaton, try the music video for Bismarck, or any of the animated story videos: Night Witches, No Bullets Fly, The Red Baron, Lady of the Dark, and The First Soldier.
This song is based on true accounts of the Christmas Truce that happen during WW1 in 1914. It was an unofficial truce between the German and English forces on the front. On Christmas Eve they collectively decided to stop shooting. The opposing sides were within shouting distance of each other. They began singing Christmas carols back and forth to each other. Eventually the soldier began to emerge from the trenches and mingle they wished each other merry Christmas, played a friendly game of football (soccer) buried their dead and exchanged gifts. It was an incredible moment of humanity in the worst human conflict we had seen thus far. It took them 7 years to gather material for this song and music video.
Excellent reaction. Joakim and Par (the main songwriters for Sabaton) felt this event was very important and spent several years working on the song to make it as good as possible. When they filmed, they used a movie production crew to insure the best possible music video and that they would capture the meaning of the truce. The result was an epic and beautiful tribute to a special moment in time. If you are interested in a deeper dive into the history of the truce, please check out the Sabaton History Channel, where historian and documentarian Indy Neidell covers the story behind Sabaton songs. For those who like the behind the scenes information, there is a video of the making of this on the Sabaton channel. Interesting tidbit, Joakim wrote this as a waltz.
When this first came out, it quickly became my favorite Christmas song/video. That hasn't changed, and second place isn't close. This video should be a tradition everywhere. It's a shame that you didn't see the wife of the drummer Hannes (the blonde guy who was concussed by the grenade) in the closing credits, as the vocalist over those credits. Often times she's better known as Floor Jansen. 😉
It should be mandatory for all kids high school history classes. Along with Sabaton's catalog. For creative writing, that's where Floor & Nightwish come into play😉👍😎
Great reaction to a great song! Welcome to the Sabaton Army. Sabaton is a teacher of history through music. If you want to see how popular they are , try "en livstid i krig" for your next Sabaton video. It is a live concert in Sweden and it is in Swedish so you will need the subtitles. It will blow you away!
This one makes me cry every time. Almost all their songs are technically about war but actually about humanity: the bravery, compassion, ingenuity that comes out in extreme circumstances, or the tragedy of lost futures. I suggest _No_ _Bullets_ _Fly_ (animated story video) next, about two pilots (American and German). The story videos are great for filling you in on the backstory, and they usually have little extras at the end, so always keep watching!
A very emotional song , surprised myself by crying the first times I saw this video. If you like another suggestion, please look up "En livstid i krig" (a lifetime of war) and especially the live performance from Gothenburg. And make sure you have subtitles cos it is sung in swedish. Also very emotional lyrics ❤
Enjoyed your reaction to this amazing work of art. Thank you for watching all the way to the end so you got to hear the beautiful choral vocals of non other than the amazing Floor Jansen of Nightwish (go back and check the credits right after the band to see her credited for them). Floor is married to Sabaton's drummer, Hannes van Dahl, the blond gentleman who is the first to step into no man's land. All of Sabaton's music is about military history. They don't glorify war but instead celebrate the average soldier or sailor. If you want to delve into the history behind their songs Sabaton has a YT channel called Sabaton History where the historians they work with explain the story behind he songs. phenomenal
A little side track is Tommy Johansson, the guitarist of Sabaton. Listen to his O Helga natt, the Swedish version of Oh Holy night. I don't think you'd be disappointed 🤗🎅
Yes this happened between Christmas eve and Christmas day 1914 and never happened again as it was banned by the Generals in charge. I am British and I come from England in a County next to London. Our county had it's own Regiment in 1914 and the 2nd Battalion was involved in the Christmas Truce on No Man's Land with German Soldiers on Christmas Day, the Football used in No Man's Land was provided by a British Soldier from The London Irish Regiment, where the actual Football used in the Christmas Truce is still around today and it is in The London Irish Regiment Museum at there Barracks in London. The Christmas Truce is a big part of British and German history and it shows that us British and Germans were not natural enemies but up to WW1 we were allies and friends plus our Royal family here in the UK were German. Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd was the Grandson of Queen Victoria and King George the 5th who was our King during WW1 was a 1st cousin to Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd as was the Russian Emperor Tsar Nicholas the 2nd and the Russian Royal Family. WW1 was a war that should of never happened. History especially military history is one of my interests as many relatives in my family have served in the British Armed Forces during WW2 and before. I have been a Sabaton Fan for many years and they are the greatest band in the world who keep history alive and tell true factual stories about battles, heroes and untold stories that have been lost in time but they have been bought back to life. BRITISH SABATON FAN 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 There is an Actual Cross that was erected to remember the historic event and miracle event that happened in Christmas 1914 and to the memory of those brave men on both British and German sides who took part. I remember it as the Christmas miracle where men of both sides for a while forgot about the war and just got together and celebrated Christmas as humans and friends. Those Men from my country and those of Germany where heroes in my eyes who gave a clear message of peace, friendship and brotherhood. 🇬🇧🤝🇩🇪🎄
The Christmas truces were particularly significant due to the number of men involved and the level of their participation-even in quiet sectors, dozens of men openly congregating in daylight was remarkable-and are often seen as a symbolic moment of peace and humanity amidst one of the most violent conflicts in human history.
Sabaton also has a History UA-cam channel that goes over the background of their songs and inspirations. Including this one about the Christmas Truce. Ao if you're ever curious about the stories that inspire these songs, you should totally check it out.
Welcome to Sabaton! Absolutely a true story. Not everyone is a WW1 buff. I am & I've learned a ton from Sabaton. Great music mixed w/history. Sabaton isn't just WW1, but they've done a ton for a conflict largely forgotten & passed over. It'll sound strange, but when my daughter was little, I used to read her the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914. There really is a good message in it. Keep going down the Sabaton rabbit hole. Even if WW1 isn't your thing, they hv plenty of other content. But, their WW1 stuff is great. You'll learn a ton & rock out at the same time. It's bn time well spent for me. Oh, my daughter also loves Sabaton!
Pianist Joakim: “I would like to have a great outro, something with an operatic voice”. Hannes the drummer (the guy that was hit by the grenade), married to Floor Jansen: “maybe I know someone who….”
Floor from nightwish; did the credit vocals Shes married to the Drummer of Sabaton (he's the one who was knocked unconscious by the hand gar. The song is on an real historical event in world war one.
Here's a fun one for ya. My cousin is a history teacher and a Sabaton fan. She use their videos and music in her classes. They make for easily digested icebreakers and introductions for chapters and events she teach them about. For myself, I collect uniforms and I have helped her out a lot through the years by lending uniforms and kit for her classes to study. I'm also an avid hiker so I've even taken some of her more "zealous" students out on marches/excursions as an extra coriculum.
This is a famous true story from WW1. Sabaton did it justice - so good! Floor Jansen singing the outro is also a plus! Check out the full version of the animated video for their song Night Witches. Such a cool story I never knew before this.
Thanks for this great and spot on reaction. You can do more reaction to Sabaton. You probably got that moqt of their songs describes true event from different wars... Bismarck should be your next reaction through official music video. Enjoy. Ciao.
I have a tenuous connection to this story. My grandfather enlisted in the British army in 1913 and was among the first British soldiers to arrive in France in August 1914. I have his discharge papers that provide the dates of his enlistment, service in France and discharge. While the rest of his story has been lost, he may well have been part of this truce. The story I heard from my father (his son) was that the German soldiers started singing Christmas carols and the British soldiers replied by singing the same carols, only in English. According to legend, a young English officer then climbed out of his trench and the truce was on. Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet my grandfather as he died before I was born. If you want to continue on the Floor/Sabaton/Nightwish Christmas train, check out Floor singing "O Holy Night" in Finnish at Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas), at a Finnish event where metal bands come together to put on a charity concert. ua-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/v-deo.html Floor is about six months pregnant at the time and Finnish speakers have said that "Raskasta Joulua" has a double meaning of "Heavy Christmas" and "Pregnant Christmas". It would be a nice follow on to this video.
I strongly recommend that you watch Sabaton's videos all the way to the end and pay close attention until it is over. Not only are almost all their songs about historical events, but they also like to hide some easter-eggs in some of them - typically near the end. This one is no exception, but you seem to have missed it by not paying full attention to the credits. The end-credit vocals were done by none other than the Valkyrie Queen herself - the singer of Nightwish, Floor Jansen - who happens to be married to Sabaton's drummer. Just as Chriestmas is about being with your loved ones, so did he in this by having his wife join in to add her incredible vocals to it. the music of both these bands - Sabaton and Nightwish are rabbit-holes unto themselves - enjoy your journey.
Definitely check out more Sabaton yes this did actually happen my husbands grandad was in the trenches he never spoke about the war. Have a look at 1916, The Last Stand Unkillable Soldier.
sabaton even has their own History Channel - Sabaton History Channel". Where the band together with a well known historian are speaking about the event. Sabatons songs are ALWAYS history based....and they are just amazing!!! Ohh! By the way. Even if not the leadsinger in Sabaton . Tommy Johansson ,the lead guitarrist has released an amazing Christmas album . with his own band Majestica - Go check out! :-)
Like others have written, it did happen, and it went silent almost on every trench line in western front, and there are stories about a football game, but in Germany for example and england almost every woman wrote a letter to the highest commander even to the king and the German kaiser and asked for a Christmas truce. Even my grandfather (on my mother's side) talked about it and he was born in 1917 but he had heard about it and learned about it. Sadly they did forbid such avens to happen again and they didn't have it on the eastern front not like they did on the western front
Allways make sure to watch all their videos to the very end. If you've done that you would have seen that its Floor singing in the end. ...She was mentioned in the credits. Btw always do that with Sabaton videos. Often exiting things reveal in the end.... . :)
You're in for a treat! Sabaton always give 100%. The guitarist playing the solo, Tommy Johansson, runs his own yt channel. Last December he posted a Christmas cover every day 1-24. You will not be disappointed.
"One thing that brings us all together." Nowadays, that is harder to pinpoint, but on the French-German line in 1914, the Christmas Truce reminded both sides that they were all Christians, and that is what brought them together.
Hi guys love watching your reactions… as it’s Christmas and would fit in your mandate… I see you reacted to Motörhead 1916 which is fantastic.. but just letting you know sabaton also did a version of this song.. which is also great.. and if you watch till the end gives more insight as to how many died in the battle of the Somme.. not our proudest moment but just to give some clarity.. the British army lost 57, 000 soldiers in one day!!! Anyway.. keep up the good work and good luck in your ventures going forward 👍
That Lemmy quote is from page 292/3 of his autobiog. White Line Fever. Don't know whether these folks allow links, so... Ceri Rees Motorhead 1916 with film from the Somme. Opening footage is Lancs fusiliers before attacking at Beaumont Hamel. Sheffield City Pals and Accrington Pals attacked 2 miles north near Serre. Common link. They were all massacred.
Great and thanks for this… 👍🏆 Try also: 1916 and the live version of: En Livstid I Krig (from Gothenburg) - but put the caption/subtitles on (it’s in Swedish and very meaningful)🏆
one interesting thing to note is in the first verse the line goes," we are all friends" but in the third verse the line changes to," we were all friends" showing how they had to go back to their trenches to continue the battle after this moment.
Sabaton's music is always about history. They never take a side and tell the stories of courage, honor, humanity, and dignity. Of their other music video "mini-movies" that hit just as hard, there is the collaboration with Yarnhub for "No Bullets Fly, "Night Witches", "The Lady of the Dark" and "The First Soldier", as well as their videos for "Bismark", "Defense of Moscow", "Screaming Eagles", "Steel Commanders", and their cover of Motorhead's "1916". You'll need tissues for "1916", it's an emotional sucker punch.
Hey guys. Just saying, this song should be at the top of the music list for anyone who considers Christmas a somber holiday, one worth examining everything we should be grateful for, and examining if how we know we should act has matched our actions throughout the previous year. It is things like these that give hope even in the most hellish of warzones, where despite the darkness and horror, the light and hope of humanity isn't extinguished. Because we should always remember our history. Lest we forget. Have a safe and happy holidays to you both. 🍻
If you're going to do reflection over christmas... There should be followed by the song that they released next... Soldier of Heaven, from the same time. I actually use that to see if someone is really listening, or just enjoying the music.
Thank you for a great reaction!!! I really think you should check out more from Sabaton. They create incredible music and lyrics to historical events. It`s their thing.
This was a very real event, so much that years after, soldiers were told if it had happened again there would be disciplinary action. It was a beautiful moment in history.
Thank you for your reaction. It's always funny to see others reactions to a band/song that is known to oneself. I'm shure you will have many more good suprises dicovering swedish metal bands (and there's a lot them). Sabaton is one of the greats, Tommy Johansson in the band has his own channel : www.youtube.com/@ReinXeed where he put out a new cover every friday(!) busy guy. Any way I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year! Greetings from Sweden. 💙💛
I am a British Army Veteran, who served Her Majesty for many years. Now 72 years old. But, I am still in uniform as an Education Officer at a Military Museum. Where we have a Great War Trench built We re enact and show school kids what our Comrades went through. With the Ration that were issued to weapons that were used. We bring our own experience of conflict into the lesson. Kids really enjoy it.
Just keep em coming, history lessons without taking sides. You'll love this journey.Just remember to run all their videos to the very end.Tons of needed facts and stuff is hidden there.Great reaction guys and Happy Holidays ❤
I'm glad you've got introduced to Sabaton. I like their music and their lyrcis, which are based on historical events. You should also react to Tommy Johansson who is a member of Sabaton (their guitarist). He has a great voice and his own YT channel where he releases new covers every Friday. He turns popular songs into metal music. His cover of Steelheart's "She's gone" or ABBA's "The winner takes it all" would be a good start, but all his covers are great.
Yeay! When you reacted to VoicePlay for the first time, I got to comment a welcome to you two, to the VoicePlay world. Now I get to write you a new welcome as you by this video enters my other main favourite music world. For me it's either Sabaton/Tommy Johansson AND/OR VoicePlay/Geoff Castellucci, with a couple artists like Bass Gang and The Hound&Fox in between. Tommy Johansson is the guitarist you saw here. Like Geoff he has his solo channel you most definitely need to explore as well. Tommy has lots of Christmas music on his channel and a glorious voice. If Geoff goes low, Tommy goes high. This video was filmed during Covid when most filmwork was shut down. Thus giving Sabaton the use of available resources.
If you think you've heard a war story you never been introduced to, Sabaton is about to become your best resource. Not only do they tell true stories most of us have never heard, they have a second channel (Sabaton History) that provides the details of each songs backstory. And they do tend to focus on the untild stories of war that aren't taught in History class. Also, a bit bummed that you didn't see the credit for the vocalist for the end credits, none other than Hannes' wife... FLOOR JANSEN! I'll forgive you since there was so much to take in during your introduction to Sabaton. Cheers, Happy Holidays, and I can't wait for your next Sabaton video, may I suggest "No Bullets Fly" a story taht was kept secret for over 40 years.
The sabaton rabbit hole, someone mentioned earlier. Always joyful to see yet another set of people falling into it. If it's something Sabaton does above anything else, it's spreading key moments of history across the world, in a way that people can actually digest. One should not underestimate the importance of what they do. They manage to boil down highly important events and package in a highly powerful message that makes the listeners want to take the time to learn more about it. There are numbers of memes of the band with the words "The worlds greatest history teachers" and they actually won an award put out by the "Swedish Skeptics Association" (An association focused on getting science and education out to the public) as the educators of the year in 2022. While the aspect of knowledge about of history is, of course, important one should not look past the humanitarian part of the stories they tell. They focus very much on what we can do as humans, both good and bad. The song "No bullets fly" (you need to check the animated story version) is another very good example of what can be done if we set aside differences and choose to be humans. While 1916 (a Motörhead cover) talks about bravery and sacrifice, it still shows what happens when humanity as a whole forgets that we are all human. There are of course songs with a little less serious vibe to them as well and deserve a listen. Their live performances are top notch. I got to see them in Stockholm in April this year and it was an emotional rollercoaster of fun shenanigans on stage mixed with the seriousness of songs like this one. Wellcome to the Sabaton rabbit hole. Looking forward to more of your reactions to their songs.
i saw this video so much times since it came out and every time floor starts singing tears are flowing... this video and finally her voice is such an epic artwork. and yes.. LEST WE FORGET. thx for your wondefrul reaction. 🖤🖤🖤 merry christmas to all of you
Loved your reaction. See everyone has said it was a real thing. As a matter of interest the piece that was being played on the piano throughout the song is Carol of the Bells. Sabaton is amazing, most of thier music is based around historical events. My 2 favorites being Bismarck and No Bullets Fly, both worth checking out. Heard in your reaction you've listened to Nightwish, Floor from Nightwish is married to Hannes the drummer from Sabaton.
I don't think Sabaton were taught about the Christmas Truce in school - I wasn't in my Swedish school - but, also like me, they are interested in history so they found out about it reading about WWI. The interactions between the soldiers worried the military leaders that thought it could have a negative effect on war morale, so they made sure it didn't happen again in the years that followed.
My first visit to your channel! This is my favorite Sabaton song. Good reaction! May I add my suggestion, to the many that came before, for you to check out Tommy Johansson's (their guitarist) channel! Since it's Christmas a great one to start with is "O Helga Natt" the Swedish version of "O Holy Night". He does both the English and Swedish versions but the Swedish version has such an unexpected epic ending that just needs to be heard to be believed! For a non-Christmas suggestion try "She's Gone" (Steelheart cover)! Thanks! ❤
Great reaction. You should watch the animated story by Yarnhub and Sabaton on Christmas Truce not necessarily as a reaction just for your own enjoyment. Also if you watch Christmas movies check out the 2005 movie Joyeux Noel about the 1914 Christmas Truce. Sabaton are masters of making people proud to be the citizen of a country they don't actually belong to.
All the other comments covered the basics. I just wanted to add that Sabaton and their record label don't do copyright strikes, which might be good to know (he said wanting more Sabaton reactions) :)
In WW1 being on no man's land in daytime was essentially a death sentence. They took huge risks by meeting there, just a minor miscalculation could have ended killing them all. This is also reflected on the video. On the subsequent years the generals ordered continuous artillery strikes over the no man's land to prevent this from happening again.
Please do more.. Every song is historical, and will make you cry and keeps those soldiers that died during battle in our minds and to see the true horror of war. No one wants to fight. Governments want to Fight. People are the casualties in all things Governmental. Heck, the current conflicts in the world where hundreds of thousands have already died in the last 2 years is so useless with no reason. Saddens me so much.
Im Canadian. We didnt have a truce. We killed the Hun on Christmas. A very good, very very good, few minutes is tge sainsberry commercial Christmas truce. This event was a once in history event. Everything happened for people to come together on Christmas on tge western front. The officers weren't happy but... the nco's run Everything so... this will never happen again in human history. And this beautiful moment should never ever be forgot.
Youre gonna get exactly what you expect :D This might be their most orchestrated song, but they know how to write hooks and solos thats sound grand and epic and the emotion that the singers voice is conveying is a signum for them.

Yes, this did happen. Sabaton is known for its historical accuracy and majestic ballads. 1916 is another of their songs based on events during WWI, written by Motörhead. You need to listen all the way to the ending of their videos to gain more insight into the events.

Most songs have it’s background explained in sabaton’s history channel. They don’t pick sides just tell history as it happened.
Even the part where they hear distant combat while still playing their game was true. This truce was not across the whole front, just some sections of trenches.

Most of the over 100,000 participants couldn't bring themselves to shoot at their newfound friends and were relocated to other parts of the line.
What an amazing story! Thank you for sharing additional info with us 🙏
Sabaton has a sabaton history channel that educated o.

If you wanna cry your eyes out… watch ” No Bullets Fly ” animated version with Sabaton.. THATS a banger of a song and soooo emotional .. trust me !!
Yes
Agree, and it's also a christmas time story.
You mean "No Bullets Fly"
Yes sorry.. No bullets fly of course
Does anyone know if that song or music video have heart?
Just in case nobody's mentioned yet: Floor Jansen was the female voice singing in the end credits. Hannes, the drummer of Sabaton, is Floor's husband
At least they let all the end credits roll...
The military leaders were so disturbed by this that they stopped it from happening for the rest of WWI.
Interesting tidbit, Joakim wrote this as a waltz.
hey alan
The actual cross, complete with the inscription "Lest We Forget", stands on a memorial site in a forested area just outside Ypres, Belgium.
The fact that this actually happened is testament that miracles do happen because this was a Christmas miracle!!!
I second that, the Göteborg show is epic
He sings about a real event that happened in 1914. There is also a movie. It's called Merry Christmas, filmed in 2005. (Joyeux Noël)
Sabaton have their own history channel here on youtube if you want to learn more about this story.
If you Like Christmas music, then majestica (band) the Christmas Carol (Album) is a must have. Beautiful Metal Christmas Album perfect 😜
FYI, Hannes, the first guy out of the trench, is Sabaton's drummer and Floor's husband. And it's Floor that is singing over the closing titles.
Sabaton is a fantastic band, teaching you about history while giving us amazing music to listen to. And I love that they tell true stories.
"This is the first time we're hearing about sabaton"
*evil laugh* welcome to the sabaton rabbit hole!
Tear up everytime I heard this song
This is a famous true story from WW1. Sabaton did it justice - so good! Floor Jansen singing the outro is also a plus!
Check out the full version of the animated video for their song Night Witches. Such a cool story I never knew before this.
The one and only Floor Jansen splendid at the end with an epic outro.
Thanks for this great and spot on reaction. You can do more reaction to Sabaton. You probably got that moqt of their songs describes true event from different wars... Bismarck should be your next reaction through official music video. Enjoy. Ciao.
The vocalist for the ending credits is Floor Jansen from nightwish!!! 😊 (She's married to the drummer of sabaton)
Good chance they come to the US in 2024, I have been to many many concerts, theirs was right up there as the best I have ever seen.
Look up Sabaton History. They explain the history of what the song is about and about the song itself
Sabaton❤❤❤Amazing
"No bullets fly" animated next?
Thanks for a great reaction! 👍
Love Floor at the end. ❤
If this was taught in schools, modern troops would know war stops when they choose to stop it.
sabaton even has their own History Channel - Sabaton History Channel".
Amazing Song, amazing Video, amazing Floor
Like others have written, it did happen, and it went silent almost on every trench line in western front, and there are stories about a football game, but in Germany for example and england almost every woman wrote a letter to the highest commander even to the king and the German kaiser and
asked for a Christmas truce.
Often exiting things reveal in the end.... . :)
15:19 The video ends. We always watch until the end. We just weren't paying close enough attention. We never cut a video off short though.
You're in for a treat! Sabaton always give 100%.
The guitarist playing the solo, Tommy Johansson, runs his own yt channel. Last December he posted a Christmas cover every day 1-24. You will not be disappointed.
If you liked that song, you should try Sabaton 1916, if that song doesnt give you tears in your eyes nothing does.
"One thing that brings us all together." Nowadays, that is harder to pinpoint, but on the French-German line in 1914, the Christmas Truce reminded both sides that they were all Christians, and that is what brought them together.
What a lovely, heartfelt reaction! Another great song about this event is the folk tune, "Christmas in the Trenches."
P.S. Yeah, Sabaton did a great tribute to Lemmy.
Great and thanks for this… 👍🏆
Try also: 1916 and the live version of: En Livstid I Krig (from Gothenburg) - but put the caption/subtitles on (it’s in Swedish and very meaningful)🏆
The voice you hear during the closing credits is a "6th" member of Sabaton by marriage. Sabaton has special guests from time to time.
Awesome reaction. Thank you for giving a chance to Sabaton in your channel. Please, more Sabaton, happy holidays from NYC.
if i remember correctly this truce only happened once, and it was a Canadian that broke it . Back then us Canadians were vicious .
I can't imagine how hard it would have been to go back to fighting each other after meeting face to face and befriending each other...
This group teaches history through their music. A great group to go down a rabbit hole with.
I've listened to this a million times and i cry every time. 😊❤
Floor Jansen sings the ending credits and she is married to Sabatons drummer
All Sabaton songs are true and very historical. 😊❤
one interesting thing to note is in the first verse the line goes," we are all friends" but in the third verse the line changes to," we were all friends" showing how they had to go back to their trenches to continue the battle after this moment.
Dive in. You will not be disappointed ! 😉 🤘🤘🤘
Merry Christmas. Forever.
As a combat vet. The thing I learned about combat. The hardest thing to keep alive. Is your humanity. Especially after losing buddies.
I’m a combat vet and I couldn’t agree more!!
Beyond Beautifully Epic ❤️🔥
Sabaton is a great band, sure there are songs that I like more than others but they are all great songs.
Thank you for a great reaction!!! I really think you should check out more from Sabaton. They create incredible music and lyrics to historical events. It`s their thing.
This was a very real event, so much that years after, soldiers were told if it had happened again there would be disciplinary action. It was a beautiful moment in history.
Floor Jansen of Nightwish is singing in the rolling credits. She is married to Sabaton drummer, Hannes.
Real music, so important. Great reaction my friends !
LOVE SABATON!!!! then add rock and guitars their videos are by far the best on par with something falling in reverse so reaking amazing.
Thus giving Sabaton the use of available resources.
also the vocals at the end are floor jansen from nightwish as she is married to sabatons drummer
Perfect introduction! Every song of theirs is epic!! I'm here for the journey.
There was a very good movie made about the truce. It’s called “ Joyeux Noel “. You will require subtitles.
Amazing song and band.
Powerful reaction.
Made me a subscriber to your channel❤
Another song where to enemies become friends is Sabaton's animated video "No Bullets Fly"
Thanks! ❤
20:56 sense you have heard nightwish before, did you hear that the end credits where song by Floor Jansen who is married to Hannes in sabaton 😊
love this ive requested this a few time with people but holy crap enjoy the sabaton rabbit whole and enjoy the tears
Youre gonna get exactly what you expect :D This might be their most orchestrated song, but they know how to write hooks and solos thats sound grand and epic and the emotion that the singers voice is conveying is a signum for them.
but you missed Floor’s vocals at the end with all the credits 😊 … trivia … she is married to Sabaton’s drummer 😊
