Thank you so much for this video. I just made some white chocolate covered pretzel rods because of you. I used straight up white chocolate, no oil and not white candy and a ladle. Excellent results. Thanks again!
hi. I just finished dipping 60 rods for a fundraiser. Your video really helped me so much. I also put the chocolate and the double boiler in my sink and dipped them there. I didn't have the usual mess of chocolate all over my kitchen and the chocolate was a great consistency throughout.
I enjoyed the video. Its very warm hearted and welcoming. I enjoyed the side notes of (turning camera off now) lol joyful and fun to watch you make them. I am hoping to find the chocolate you have chosen to use. Those chips and the double pot is the best ive seen on any of these pretzel making videos. You did absolutely an amazing job at those! Less messy too!
Aww thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot that you took time. I’m certainly no pro but that was never the intention. I just started this kind of during Covid so I could teach my new daughter-in-law and her friends some very basic, cooking and baking fun!
Hi My son and I want to make some of these for Christmas. I've done them before but it was a really long time ago. I saw that you added shortening in one of your other videos. Do you do that after the chocolate melts or can you put some in the double pot while you're melting it? Also, can you use anything other than shortening to get that creamy texture? Thanks for making such cool videos!
Hi there! If the chocolate is fresh, when you buy it, the wafers and such… It should be fine in the double boiler while on low heat-- only is the last resort while I add a little bit of some sort of oil. The chocolate melts should be just fine. You’ll jump right back into it like riding a bike if you’ve done it in the past. This was one of the first videos I made and I know it was long and I feel really bad about that. But I figured if one dip could help somebody, jeepers that’s my goal. and gosh, thank you for your very kind words. I so appreciate you. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me and hopefully I’ll see them in time. In the meantime, merry Christmas to you and yours, have a blessed holiday!

@@susanbellport8838 thank you this was one of my very first videos, and I had no idea that I would make it for anybody other than some young ladies that I know. Thank you, Sue! You know what's crazy, I'm looking at videos using candy coating for pretzels. The next one was your video, and as soon as I see it, I recognize your face because I've seen you someplace before, but not on UA-cam, like out and about. UA-cam videos come from all over the USA, and all countires, but when you mentioned Rochester Rd., well, we're in northern Oakland County, north of Clarkston. THUMBS UP!!!
@@chantina9091 I just use store-bought stuff. I do prefer the Merkins Peter’s ultra is good and I started using that new one. I think that was in the video. I don’t like the candy caps that are sold at Michael’s or like Walmart though. I think they’re really sweet. Also, I don’t care for the almond bark, it’s not almond flavor. By the way, I have no idea why they named it that ha. It’s easier to work with and I know people who use it, but they just isn’t as delicious as using the merkins wurst for instance. I hope that answer was OK.
I would not recommend it. When you freeze chocolates, the buttercream can separate and it will look all white and swirly. Once they are dipped they stay fresh for a long long time. So after they're drying set I keep them in the original pretzel tub that they came in, careful not to overcrowd them so the sprinkles come off. But they really do stay fresh for a long time after that. Good luck! I'm sure you and yours will love them. Shirley
Hi sorry I’m just seeing this now! Actually the pretzels that I make I just give away as gifts. And this older video here? I was making a lot for my husband’s coworkers. I wish I had a better answer for you!
@@Aunt-ShirleyHello, I love your video! You are as cute and friendly as can be. I’ve been wanting to try this for years but was never confident. A few questions: 1. I only bought a regular bag of pretzel rods so I don’t have the container to put them back into like you do. How do I store them so the chocolate doesn’t discolor? Can I just bag them up like you did? 2. How long can they be stored and still taste fresh and not stale? 3. Can you use Nestles chocolate chips? Thank you!!
Hi there! I hope the following will answer your questions. Ideally, I suppose they should be put into something like a big Ziploc bag. But I really don’t even think it’s necessary. I’ve displayed them for company in a widemouth mason jar with a ribbon around it and that always looks so pretty Think of it like a Hershey bar sitting out. It really doesn’t need to be in the refrigerator, because the buttercream can separate, and you’ll get that white swirly look to your chocolates. So room temperature is fine! As far as using the little semi sweet chocolate morsels?, I suppose you could, but I haven’t done that. I’ve used those for making chocolate ganache for what I make a cake though. There’s been a few different times when I’ve had one of those oversized big Hershey bars, and I’ve chunk it up and it works lovely in the double boiler for dipping pretzels! After all it’s just chocolate anyway Well I hope that helped my dear. And thank you for tuning in this was one of my first videos I made. So it makes me feel good that someone liked it.❤
Noted! in the past I’ve use Merkins chocolate. And I get that from a local cake and candy shop here. There are those wafers. This time I bought a different kind,
No need, unless it's old chocolate or you want it thinner. I needed mine thinner for the recent Girl scout cookies I made. so I added some cocoanut oil. just never anything that has water. :) Good luck! (Sorry I didn't see this earlier!)
Neat. That’s one thing I never thought of. I guess I have enough chocolate on it that both sides are dipped first and then I shake it off enough that it doesn’t Scooch all over the place when I do laying down. I like everybody chiming in with different ideas! Everyone helping everyone. :-)
@@lynnefairchild7857 hi there. Good question! Actually about 3/4 around the sprinkles will be. So when I put them in to the baggies, I just slide them in pretty side up and all in a row.
I notice you’re not tempering your chocolate. Real chocolate need tempering, otherwise it will end up having discolored blotches or blooming. If your chocolate doesn’t require tempering, then I doubt it’s real chocolate, rather candy melts. Please clarify. They sure do look scrumptious though. Thank you for sharing
after checking, the brand that I bought was new to me, and I really didn’t think it was chocolate! It was from a local company, here called, Stover and Company. The candy melts were totally delicious, especially the dark chocolate, but upon looking, they really weren’t chocolate at all. They were the wafers! so you’re absolutely right real chocolate needs tempering, I just got excited because this brand said no tempering. Lesson learned! it was delicious though.
