The 2019 traditional song that didn't qualify was a mistake by one of juries, the points given were different than points the jury wanted to give and Poland was eliminated by very small margin, if everything would be in order Poland would have qualified from 10th place

The most recent pop song that won in Eurovision is from 2023 and a lot of people would argue that it's average... There were other pop songs in 2018 and in 2015, so 3 "pure" pop song in the last 10 editions. I don't think it's a lot. About the politics, in the last 10 editions I can only see one song that won because of the political situation and it was Ukraine in 2022 but the song was not even bad.
