The thing is she broke the rules and sang it in English during the dress rehearsal which caused a scandal, but only six countries demanded Poland to be disqualified (13 was needed for that to happen). I think this explains why Poland didn't win as some juries punished her by giving less or no points. It's been speculated that Edyta did this in order to prevent a Polish victory because Poland at the time probably would have struggled to afford hosting the contest. I haven't seen any evidence of this, though.
As she said, she got cold in windy Dublin. Apparently singing in Polish can tire the voice more than singing in English even without Polish rustling sounds. Becauce of that reason her team discussed with her that she should sing at rehearsal in English

Edyta had a throat infection during the contest so she hardly can speak. On second rehearsal she sang English version just to sing and not got her throat worse. This was forbidden so she could go cancelled. After final she couldn't speak. She was only able to sing this once time
