Look I know EA has been known to make extremely dumbass-level terrible mistakes, but this takes the cake. Like they should actually be shamed consistently for cancelling this game. Call me hyperbolic and melodramatic, but it’s just mind blowing that they would cancel this.

A Mandalorian game was an extremely safe bet long before the Disney Plus show. People have been asking for a Manadalorian game for decades. Don't try to wrap your head too much around it though EA execs often just make really dumb decisions. From Battlefield 4 to Battlefield 2047 there's plenty of avoidable failures and dumb decisions. I just feel bad for the devs. Potentially year(s) of their work will never see the light of day

Idk if you saw the leaks about the percentage of profits Insomniac/Sony has to pay Marvel/Disney for the Wolverine game. And think of how much bigger star wars is compared to wolverine

Why isn't there a big team of developers at Lucasfilm to make all Star Wars games? Why license it anywhere else at all when they could just do it all themselves? Or do both?

It's hard to stay happy about the Battlefront Classic with all the sorrow surrounding it with other Star Wars game to be honest. That mando game was a serious letdown that they canceled it for example. I don't get why the lack of effort and quitting mentality EA has for this product. A lot of these new game cancelations just makes me rea miss the old days of Lucasarts games really since they pumped out a crazy amount of Star Wars games almost every year up until Lucasarts got dissolved and EA got the Star Wars game license. After hearing about the cancelation of the FPS Mandalorian game from Respawn I act went back to the OG Mandalorian game Star Wars Bounty Hunter for the PS2 with Jango Fett.
As for me i think the reason why EA Canceled the fps game is due to how hurt they are seeing the classic battlefront having more attention and pre orders. Thats my opinion that being said it is sad to see so much potential star wars games axed due to poor decision makings and horrible trends and whatever excuses they can come up with.

Tbh it sounds maybe kinda valid that they cancelled the Mandalorian game. Don't get me wrong i'd love nothing more than playing a Jango Fett/Boba Fett style bounty hunter and to play as that fantasy as they are my favorite characters but it just didn't have enough in it, what they could have done is done a "Deathloop style game" with the mechanics in that (not going to spoil it for you but if you have XBOX gamepass you can get it off that and just do a single play through (it's the Bethesda game in orange with the Black guy on the front)). I'm not going to give anything away on that game but say they should have assassins in it like in Deathloop but with more assassins. I'm not giving details because i don't want to spoil the game, it's a great game and i want you to check it out and at least in my country you can get a trial of xbox gamepass and download the game off the gamepass for literally a single dollar for 14 days. Play Deathloop and enjoy it, and the "assassin gameplay/mechanic" you will know when you experience it, if they did something like that with "multiple assassins" in it it would be a much better in the "Mandalorian game". If you have played Deathloop and know about the mechanic, you will know just how on edge you are when that assassin comes in. Do yourself a massive favour like i did and look up nothing about the game that spoils it, just look up some positive scores or metacritic score (i think it got 89 on metacritic) and enjoy!
Star Wars isn't very popular at the moment. Not surprised at all they cancelled it. Bad films. Mediocre TV series... Blame Lucasfilm for making poor content, not EA for not taking a huge risk. Roll on Battlefront Classic. Back when Lucasfilm made Star Wars films.

I do not think this game would have been good. Not open world with arcade jetpack gameplay. Also not a fan of the Mandolorian either. When I think of a Star Wars game I think of Stormtroopers, Clones, Anakin, Palpatine, Luke, etc. Not some crazy cheesy commericial Disney-space-John-Wick.
I love star wars and the mandalorian was ok. But I cannot see how a mandalorian game would be a financial success. It sounds like it would be a mix of rdr2, rust, and starfield with star wars characters(and not even ones we know or will remember in a year). I have no idea how you've confused an FPS game with "linear single player levels" with RDR2, Rust, or Starfield. This game would've been the exact opposite of an RPG or wide open action game. Complaining that the game wouldn't have had any characters we know or will care about is strange since we don't know who the characters would've been aside from a Mandalorian who isn't Din. Not to mention some of the most popular and beloved Star Wars characters are ones that only appeared in video games (Kyle Katarn, Delta Squad, Revan, Dash Rendar, Starkiller, Cal Kestis, need I go on?). Lastly, The Mandalorian wasn't just a hit for Star Wars it was a straight up cultural phenomenon. Its hard to get exact numbers since streaming stuff is weird, but it was clearly a massive success for them (otherwise they wouldn't have developed multiple spinoffs and movies). EA cancelling a Mandalorian game when that game would've almost definitely come out around the time the Mando movies were going to is pure incompetence, there is 0% chance that game wouldn't have been a huge success.
Im at 3:24 and I need to say, it sounded like a game for me I would have put hour after hour after hour into it. It actually kind of reminds me of helldivers 2, you have your base where you operate from and choose the bounty (in helldivers its the mission you chose), land on the planet, locate and kill your bounty(in helldivers it would be of course the mission but we also have bounty type missions where you have to take out stronger enemies).
EA: "Well you see, we at Electronic Arts believe that a Mandalorian bounty hunter-type game was a financial risk to us as a company, due to the high probability that it would've been something actually good. You see, such an outcome would result in us having raised the bar, which is bad for our bottom line, because it results in us having to actually apply some effort in our game-making standards. So as such, we have regretfully (LOL) chosen to discontinue development on this future title." I cant prove this is EA's operating method, I just know that it's true.
If this game got canceled, except a way more niche game like the strategy one to get canceled too. Except if they find out the perfect model for players to sink in some money. But like EA already stated, they dislike that Disney gets a cut.
Although I want and will throw EA under the us… Disney should also be to blame. With the Insomniac leak we saw that Disney look at gaming as an infinite money glitch. They would have 100% expected 10 million copies sold, something that singleplayer FPS games don’t get with a new IP. There is a reason why PS5 was bundled with Spiderman 2. Sell both together, discount the PS5 and give the game full price on paper to give a good report to Disney to continue working with the IP.

We need a proper studio to come in and gives us all these games we’ve been literally waiting to just throw our money at. I’d love an open world SW game. I hope you realize not everyone likes online PvP multiplayer. Helldivers 2 is online co-op & it's incredible. And I'm someone who loves playing against AI bots so please don't forget offline multiplayer players also.
According to EA execs, the reason "Immortals of Aveum" failed was that "trying to release a single-player first person shooter in 2023 was an awful idea". Google it and you'll confirm what I'm saying. So my guess is that the morons actually thought a mandalorian game would not be profitable because they probably compared it to their shitty game... JUST BECAUSE both were FPS games. This is just conjecture on my part, but still...

Why was it a Mandalorian game FPS to begin with, that is my question. It should have been a force-user centric FPS. The flagship of this franchise has always been the force users and a huge swath of us do not care what Jon Favraeu and Disney want regardless of how talented Favraeu is. You can throw a rock out there and find a prolific, big name director that would make good use of this IP.
That’s not necessarily good news for the KOTOR remake. If Embracer moved development from Aspyr to Saber, Embracer seems to have the rights to the remake. Saber might not be able to take it with them under their new ownership.
It's a "financial risk" because a single player story-focused game does not lend itself to have every aspect of it be monetized up the ass, yeah the game might initially sell a lot but EA wants both game sales AND monetization revenue, you people don't understand that the main priority of game companies nowadays is squeezing as much money as they can from the consumer and a "one and done" purchase is simply no longer enough for them.

I've a feeling this is more to do with the percentage that Disney takes on these games and EA wanting to focus on their own IP's than the game not have the potential to do well. I think there's a high chance Jedi 3 will be the last Star Wars game we'll see from an EA studio for a while

I love star wars and the mandalorian was ok. But I cannot see how a mandalorian game would be a financial success. It sounds like it would be a mix of rdr2, rust, and starfield with star wars characters(and not even ones we know or will remember in a year). The mandalorian show as it was - was way less of a success than most critics gave it credit for(even tho it was still good). So I actually agree with them on that

I have no idea how you've confused an FPS game with "linear single player levels" with RDR2, Rust, or Starfield. This game would've been the exact opposite of an RPG or wide open action game. Complaining that the game wouldn't have had any characters we know or will care about is strange since we don't know who the characters would've been aside from a Mandalorian who isn't Din. Not to mention some of the most popular and beloved Star Wars characters are ones that only appeared in video games (Kyle Katarn, Delta Squad, Revan, Dash Rendar, Starkiller, Cal Kestis, need I go on?). Lastly, The Mandalorian wasn't just a hit for Star Wars it was a straight up cultural phenomenon. Its hard to get exact numbers since streaming stuff is weird, but it was clearly a massive success for them (otherwise they wouldn't have developed multiple spinoffs and movies). EA cancelling a Mandalorian game when that game would've almost definitely come out around the time the Mando movies were going to is pure incompetence, there is 0% chance that game wouldn't have been a huge success.

Im at 3:24 and I need to say, it sounded like a game for me I would have put hour after hour after hour into it. It actually kind of reminds me of helldivers 2, you have your base where you operate from and choose the bounty (in helldivers its the mission you chose), land on the planet, locate and kill your bounty(in helldivers it would be of course the mission but we also have bounty type missions where you have to take out stronger enemies).

With the Insomniac leak we saw that Disney look at gaming as an infinite money glitch.
They would have 100% expected 10 million copies sold, something that singleplayer FPS games don’t get with a new IP.
There is a reason why PS5 was bundled with Spiderman 2. Sell both together, discount the PS5 and give the game full price on paper to give a good report to Disney to continue working with the IP.
That would have been a dream of a game. Seems like EA are just completely out of touch with the Star Wans fan base. We need a proper studio to come in and gives us all these games we’ve been literally waiting to just throw our money at. I’d love an open world SW game. Imagine something like Skyrim in the SW universe. A battle royale like pubg within the SW universe would be amazing too, not to mention battlefront 3. These people are literally so idiotic and wasting away on the SW license.

According to EA execs, the reason "Immortals of Aveum" failed was that "trying to release a single-player first person shooter in 2023 was an awful idea". Google it and you'll confirm what I'm saying. So my guess is that the morons actually thought a mandalorian game would not be profitable because they probably compared it to their shitty game... JUST BECAUSE both were FPS games. This is just conjecture on my part, but still...

Why was it a Mandalorian game FPS to begin with, that is my question. It should have been a force-user centric FPS. The flagship of this franchise has always been the force users and a huge swath of us do not care what Jon Favraeu and Disney want regardless of how talented Favraeu is. You can throw a rock out there and find a prolific, big name director that would make good use of this IP.
That’s not necessarily good news for the KOTOR remake. If Embracer moved development from Aspyr to Saber, Embracer seems to have the rights to the remake. Saber might not be able to take it with them under their new ownership.
It's a "financial risk" because a single player story-focused game does not lend itself to have every aspect of it be monetized up the ass, yeah the game might initially sell a lot but EA wants both game sales AND monetization revenue, you people don't understand that the main priority of game companies nowadays is squeezing as much money as they can from the consumer and a "one and done" purchase is simply no longer enough for them.

I've a feeling this is more to do with the percentage that Disney takes on these games and EA wanting to focus on their own IP's than the game not have the potential to do well. I think there's a high chance Jedi 3 will be the last Star Wars game we'll see from an EA studio for a while
Man I've always wanted a mandalorian/bounty hunter game since I was a kid to know on two occasions it was so close just sucks. I'd take a remake of star wars bounty hunter at this point.
