I have a 2018 MDX sh-awd and I love that car so much. Something that big has no business being that good in the bends, it just stays so flat and I’m in love with it. For my next one I definitely want the Type S advance with the 3.0.
I agree. I just left the BMW M Driving School and had a full day of track time in all the new ///M cars. Going back into the MDX was not disappointing afterwards as far as the breaking and handling, which says a lot. I still miss my X3M, but the Acura has been good to us
It's been a great vehicle so far. It's our first Acura and we are really enjoying it. No issues other than a few random plastic squeak/rubbing noises in the center console that are annoying for a brand new car. Only happens when driving/vibrating
The 0-60 time is far less interesting than balance, handling and braking. Driving fast is more about not slowing down so much in the corners than accelerating out of them.
This was in S, but I let it shift itself. Happy to do it again with manual shifts on the paddles, but i doubt it would be any quicker. I also have a Dragy that I should measure the 0-60 with and 1/8 mile

@BtwilliasGarage, As in, dont compare this MDX type s... with a BMW X3 M competition. They are not in the same category, let alone performance levels.
Those are the two SUVs I personally had. It's a X3MC to make it an even further comparison and they happened to cost the same at the time as well (new Acura, used X3MC)
The Acura will still be on the road in 20 years, the X3 will be in a junkyard after the warranty period expires, so in that sense, it outperforms every BMW.
The way it pulls out from a corner stop is insane. sh-awd has come a long way

Needs a little more power for me to justify trading in my 2010.
I understand that. They offer tuning now through K Tuner and what not to turn the boost up. Voids warranty though
I hear ya, but this will last much longer than the Germans because of the conservative tune.
I timed it multiple times with my stopwatch, got pretty damn close with the timing and got 5.5 secs or better each time
Very cool. So you timed mine in the video? I can run some Dragy test if you are curious to see it on perfect flat ground
Ha yeah. It def wasn’t perfect but got close enough I think. Just got tired of folks saying it’s a 6.0 sec car. Far from it 👍🏼
@frankie.d1127 I'll get you some concrete evidence on that with an widely accepted method
why does it feel like the previous gen with vtec is just as fast?
The 0-60 time is far less interesting than balance, handling and braking. Driving fast is more about not slowing down so much in the corners than accelerating out of them.
Sounds like you may be better suited for my longer videos. I appreciate the comment and thoroughly agree. ua-cam.com/video/XNnHU8NNVUM/v-deo.html

I agree Noah
I am a 10%er, enjoy the sierra roads in mine. It's not like my vette but in sport+ it does a great job for an SUV
Get it, Dave! Love to hear it

Im wondering if instead of D you put it into S and manually shifted with the paddle shifters if you would have seen better performance from launch…?

Do you like the vehicle. I was thinking about getting one for my wife. I wish it made a little more power but looks fun enough.
Yeah we really like it. It's a great driver and a little fun when I drive it for a day

I think what he meant to say was, why didn’t they add another turbo to it. 😂
@jj_cruz because it's nit meant to be in the class above where it currently sits. It's priced in line with cars with similar numbers
