A freshly repainted NR 28 is arriving at EAST PERTH Terminal with the Indian Pacific passenger train

- NR 28 immaculate in Indian Pacific livery, is arriving at East Perth Terminal. Hauling 27 coaches and 1 motorail wagon, AMRZ 251, with just 2 vehicles!

This video, commences with view of Transwa regional coach arrivals at East Perth Terminal. Within the Public Transport Centre administration building.
Steam locomotive S549 'Bakewell' on static display, and maintained by Rail Heritage WA. This location at East Perth, once was the former site of Western Australia Government Perth's major steam locomotive depot.
Then showing the new 5 storey Metronet Public Transport Operations Control Centre building under construction. To accommodate the extra demand of Perth City's increasing network of suburban train services. The hoarding banner features, indidgenous artwork with logo 'Yoodininy Moort'. Meaning binding people.
B series 3 car set departing East Perth surbuban train station, for High Wycombe on the Airport Line. The station here, features lift and undercover overpass to East Perth Terminal.
Following sequences, cover arrival of the Indian Pacific with NR 28 looking smart and so clean. Minus any Nullabor dust and grime!
A PacNat ground crew person, who had arrived by vehicle, from Kewdale Depot. To assist in shunting role, with the Motorail vehicle wagon to the dock platform. This wagon remains here overnight.
And the two Station staff very efficently, removing the two vehicles from the wagon. With the car owners, handed the keys, after unloading. Easy as that!
Platform attendant on hand, to transport passengers in electric people mover to the main booking centre. Staff removing linen for laundry cleaning, etc.
And two window cleaners on the platform side. Not sure, when the trackside windows get cleaned? Here or back at PacNat's Kewdale Freight Terminal, where the train is stabled overnight.
Closing sequence is taken from the carpark at Meltham suburban train station. B series 3 car set for the Airport Line And A series 4 car set for Midland pass by, before the empty Indian Pacific turns up. Slowing down as it catches up to caution signal.
Maylands station with the Perth City skyline is last in view.
There's already talk about when the Ellenbrook Line becomes operational in 2025. Of how busy this double track section will be from Bayswater station into Perth City, passing East Perth Terminal.
And juggling train paths for the Indian Pacific train movements, if not running to timetable. Though admittedly Saturday arrivals at 3pm. And Sunday departures at 10am, make it easier, being off peak weekend times.

Finally, we see a decent loco on the Indian Pacific instead of the usual scruffy rag tag ones of past. Decent rain there WATS, very dry out this way, just 8mm for May and only 4mm for June so far. All that shunting for just two cars on the carrier, the NSW registered VW must have drove to Adelaide as no car carrier ex Sydney. Very interesting and thank you WATS.

Thanks Dave. Yeah I was hesitate to publish this one.. Being rather lengthy, but went with a story line theme, more so with the motorail unloading. Yeah that's a shame for Sydney boarding passengers...If wanting to take their car for a Western Australian touring trip. They have to drive to Adelaide. Looks like East Perth puts Sydney Terminal to shame with its single platform long enough to accommodate the IP, whereas in Sydney it has to be shunted over to 3x separate platforms.
Yes, I think that's incredible shunting moves, to get the Indian Pacific together in Sydney.
Alas, we are saddened to hear. That the Indian Pacific will no longer use East Perth Terminal next year, 2025.
Being relocated to arriving and departing from PacNat's Kewdsle Freight Terminal.
