Nice choice . Does it feel strained at high speed ? I wonder if 240 is the top speed or it is electronically limited ?
@@doublefault8850 On U.K. roads it’s tough to push it, but the throttle response is so good, it’s steady at high speeds and the back end sits pretty. It gets admiring looks from the old and young and makes me smile every time I get into it. It’s an incredible car for the money and has been faultless, beautiful and reliable for me.

Good to hear! I'm also in the UK and yeah - you're darn right about things being hard to push it on our roads. Years ago I had an RS Megane and whilst fun, I had to go out really late or really early to get any decent use out of it.
Anyway, this is my next car. I'm not sure when I'll manage to buy it (going through quite a lot in life at the moment) but certainly within the next 2 years or so I'd imagine.
@@pauljackson112 That’s really funny. I had an RS a few weeks ago all over my ass. The Alfa is on a two year lease. Brand new, 2.5k upfront and then £385 a month. All servicing, warranty, tyres and road tax free. I have paid zero extra in that time. It goes back in July and I am going to miss it, but need to get a smaller car to help my nephew learn to drive. Once that is done I’ll be back to Alfa. Leasing, rather than buy has worked out really well for me. Hope you manage to get one, for the money they are stunning.

Nice video. Waiting for the Veloce in UK it seems they will get RWD only, not four wheel drive..will it make a difference. I've driven the 2.2 Diesel (180) and the base 2.0 (200bhp)petrol Giulia the diesel had mor torque and felt faster than the petrol from initial acceleration, though top end was faster on the petrol. Not quite satisfied with both though they were lively and light to drive, so wanting something more powerful like the 280bhp petrol Veloce, hope it fills the gap!

No, what he said is that he can't think of a position for Lancia in the global market, because globally it's not as famous as it is in Italy or in Europe, so it doesn't worth the investment. Maybe in the future.
on the plus side the higher ups at FCA love the Lancia brand so maybe one day..
The ti isn't the same as the QV. I know, obviously right? But it not that simple. The engine is different yes, but the suspension, even with both having active feels incredibly different. I love my ti, but I married the QV. The QV is so much more planted. When speeding in the QV, it feels different. At the core. You feel safer whereas the ti feels like it's on its toes.
I would LOVE to have the QV but my girlfriend often wants to go skiing and I will need another FWD/AWD car for snowy conditions, so it's not an option for me unfortunately. Which is why I will probably go with the Veloce Ti and a second hand sports car like a Cayman S 987

Okay. Thanks for the reply. Hmm.. well, I don't think the Q4 is the reason for that unstability(maybe tires?), but on that subject, I really hope that both this 280hp petrol and the 210hp diesel comes in a RWD version as well, here in Europe.
The Q4 run 100% like a RWD as long as it does have enough grip. Under dry conditions RWD is the mode the car is in. Only if it loses grip it will involve the front wheels. I have driven the car in the range between 170 and 230 and I did not realize any instability or difference within this range / beyond 200. It was perfectly stable.
@@heinedenmark yoy can buy the regular diesel or petrol and tune it to 230HP and 310HP respectively. So RWD and a bit more powerful than the veloce.

+Sadri Badaboom i think the same... other Giulias didn't do that so lout. It is from 200km/h really noisy inside. The car is 2cm higher that other giulias because of 4x4. The handling and feeling at 240 is sometimes scary like.. the car wants to fly. But I still think for every day use in every Wetter conditions is this the best choice. Until 200 is no problem at all...

It can rev much higher. Most people that try it in manual mode hits the rev limiter at 6200, the first times they it. It's sadly got to do with emissions.
Lo 0-100 in proporzione è più veloce della Quadrifoglio. In nessun video ho riscontrato il 3,9 dichiarato dalla casa.

Non ti rispondo per fare polemica ma solo perchè leggo spesso questa critica
che riguarda tutte le case automobilistiche (per essere chiari).
Chi la fa non tiene conto di una cosa molto banale..
le prestazioni che le case dichiarano sono fatte nella migliore condizione possibile (come è ovvio che sia).
E visto che tra un 3.9 e un 4.1 la differenza è minima (per non dire infinitesimale) ecco spiegato perchè la gran parte delle volte non si raggiunge la velocità dichiarata dalla casa.
Ieri ho visto un video 0-250km/h della Quadrifoglio, dove finalmente si vedeva uno scatto uguale a ciò che dichiara la casa :)

It is in Germany, of course they SHOULD expect people coming with 300+ km/h ;)
Its not a matter of expectability, the one on the right lane has to make sure that he can switch to the left one.
If he looks to the mirror, and remains unsure about the speed of the car approaching at the left lane, the car on the right lane has to stay where it is.

This car is my personal disappointment. My current BMW 325i with the 3.0 machine is definitely faster than the Giulia, which makes me wonder how this is possible with just 160kw. I wanted it really bad, it looks gorgeous and with rear wheel drive it cannot be that bad. Also the QV shows what capabilities the cassis has. But, and this kills it for me 1) i hate all wheel drive. For me it just adds weight and influences the steering and i don't care for rain and snow because the awd won't keep you on the road when you drive too fast. 2) the engine revs like a diesel. An emotional machine like the Alfa, i just expect it to rev at least to 7000rpm. 3) Automatic only? Are you kidding me? Marchionne and Wester promised every model is available as a manual! So where are they or is this just another broken promise? 4) The sound is, poor. I know this is personal but if you ever heard a 4C you know how it could sound. I own a BMW inline six, which is very silent but yet engaging, rev happy and a very emotional sounding machine - at least to me. It also never tires you even after a 16hour drive.
Get the base car, rwd with a manual six and then get the engine reprogrammed for 280 bhp. It will be faster than the Q4, apart from any grip limited acceleration that is.
Well there are several catches to it. You loose guarantee fiddle with a brand new car. Even though i love Alfas but anyone knows, they fall apart and loosing your guarantee is definitely a bummer. Second, i tried to find some tuning but there seems to be nothing available. At least i couldn't find anything. Next thing you should do is to fix the exhaust. I also couldn't find anything convincing. In general it feels bad to modify a brand new car that is supposed to be good. They have all the things they need to create it, there is a working manual available (Quadrifogilo), they know how to create excellent exhausts (4C). It is all there, they just have to put the good parts together. The only thing i am not sure about is the engine, what where they thinking when they reduced it to a Diesel rev range.
I agree about the catches to it and that it seems a bit ridiculous that they dropped rwd and the manual on the Veloce. Unfortunately I think it is a sign of the times. Very few individuals will be purchasing these cars new nowadays, most will be fleet vehicles. The Veloce appears to me to be aimed at the affluent Scandinavian and Alpine market. These are markets where business reps need 4wd to make their winter appointments and can afford the extra leasing costs associated with the Veloce in order to have some more bragging rights. I think Alfa figures enthusiasts buying new will shell out for the Quadrofoglio and that the Veloce will be mainly a fleet or family vehicle, but I could be missing something.
In the UK Alfa's have never been a good new car purchase due to depreciation and reputation for reliability. I have a tuned 8 year old 159 however that has done 129k, runs great and has not had any major problems. The 159 is actually pretty reliable as long as servicing and part replacement is done by the book. If the Giulia follows this trend then it might be an excellent used purchase. As for tuning, there are some new write ups on Alfaowner about cars being remapped for Veloce spec. As far as I have read it is a simple ecu remap, no new parts required. I am guessing it will void warranty though.
