i Just purchased a siimlar van today, doesn't crank and owner says its a piston failure, so i am trying to see as much as possible on what to diagnose, this video is very helpful. thank you
Surprisingly, the compression test came up low on all cylinders, slightly worse on cyl 2 but not enough to strip on its own. I read low fuel pressure while cranking and found a damaged injector nozzle on cyl 2. These 2 factors along with the smoke while cranking lead me to decide on stripping it down.

What what was the problem as you didnt say for sure ?
Did you find any one thing that was preventing it from starting and at least running badly?
Was it difficult to remove the injectors? What's the best way to do it?
So what was the result of the compression test ? To lead to strip down.. where there any fault codes stored?
