    Remember when Meg was a challenge? Feels like a distant memory at this point, hunh? You're breezing through Tartarus and Asphodel now. Elysium is always a bit slow just because of the enemy types, but look how good you've gotten! I'm so proud of you Ben!

      Thank you Kyle, I really appreciate that. Yesterday I thought I would watch the start of some other playthroughs, just to see how I was doing... you know... see if I was taking a stupid amount of time adjusting or if I was on-par. I saw a few 6 to 8 hour vlog type videos, where the person hadn't even passed Meg or reach Bone Hydra yet. I was like "What!?" That definitely gave me a boost of confidence in my performance. Now I just need to figure out that pesky Hades character. ;-)

    The fishing rod is great - you'll definitely want to pick it up once you have another diamond!
    I wouldn't say that Doom is "bad," merely that it's situational - as are most of the boons that proc an effect or a status without also giving you a % increase. I'd be very happy to get Doom on my Bow's primary or on my Shield's special, though I wouldn't want it on my Fists' primary or my Bow's special. Conversely, I'd hate to have Lightning on my Bow's primary, but I'd love to have it on my Fists.
    Demeter's boons are an interesting case, as she has _both_ a % increase and a _stackable_ status effect (in fact, hers are the only such boons). Common level 1 gives +40% to your primary or +60% to your special, which is about in the middle of the pack, but it also gives you a stackable debuff. Chill on the Bow's primary? Meh, you'll never have more than one or two stacks at a time. Chill on the Fist's primary, putting 5 stacks onto an enemy with your standard quick combo? Absolutely devastating.
    Long Knuckles on the Fists is just so OP - I love runs with that effect!
    If you actually take the time to get the Shattered Shackle to its highest rank, it gives +100% damage to your attacks that don't have a boon! While you can often get over +100% with your Specials (e.g. level 2 Aphrodite or level 3 Poseidon or Athena) or Casts (level 2 or 3 for most gods), it's _very_ difficult to get your primary over +100%, so you can run with the Shackle for a high-damage-no-effects attack. Of course, that also means you're dedicating your Keepsake slot for the entire run and don't get the Tooth or other cool stuff.
    Now that you've got 2 Death Defiances (DD), the math between the Spiked Collar and the Lucky Tooth becomes interesting. The Collar gives you +50 health, and each DD gives you 50% max health, meaning that the Collar gives you an extra +25 each time a DD kicks in. With 2 DDs, that means the Collar gives you 50+25+25=100 extra health (same as the Tooth), and if you purchase a 3rd DD, then the Collar would actually be worth 50+25+25+25=125 health. Since the Collar increases how much health you can hold - allowing you to heal up higher - it'll often be a better choice than the Tooth. Of course, that depends on how many DDs you actually have. If you get to Styx with fewer than 2 DDs left, the Tooth may be a better choice.
    The couple of times you've found Patroclus, you've chosen the attack bonus and then gotten melted in the following rooms. His HydraLite Gold can help ensure you reach the boss with high health and may be worthwhile even if you have full health at Patroclus.
    Anyway, this looks like it's a good run - looking forward to seeing if it becomes The Run where you punch out REDACTED 😁

      Appreciate the tips here for both the DD's & the Demeter boons. I actually have an episode coming up where I really contemplate the very subject you're talking about with the DDs, and with how it effects the Damage Reduction bonus (I think it requires 40% or lower) - glad to know I was on to something there.

    • @RealNazrax
      @RealNazrax 19 днів тому

      @@BenjamightGaming Hmm, I don't think I ever considered how DDs and Damage Reduction would combine. Let's see ... with some back-of-the-napkin math, if you have 200 base damage, then DR would kick in at 80 health. Assuming 10% DR, that saves you 8 health per life, so if you have 2 DDs at the Tooth, you'll save a max of 32 health (1 original life + 3 extras). If you instead take the Collar, that's 250 health, with DR kicking in at 100, saving 10 health per life. You'll have a total of 3 lives, so you save a max of 30 health. With a base of 300 health, you'd save 48 with the Tooth and 42 with the Collar; but with 100 base health you'd save 16 with the Tooth and 18 with the Collar.
      I think?
      Either way, the difference is less than the smallest attack in the game, so probably not worth worrying about, but fun to think about! 😁

      In your opinion, which is the better choice with Eurydice? Upgraded level or rarity? I've never been able to tell the difference myself.

    • @RealNazrax
      @RealNazrax 17 днів тому +1

      @@Turkeyfoot1990 I talked about this in my comments to the last video, but I'll paste the relevant section here:
      The main difference between Rarity (aka Quality) and Level is that Level has diminishing returns while Rarity doesn't. Going from Common to Rare will bump a Boon by roughly the same amount as going from Level 1 to Level 2, no matter how many levels the Boon already has. If you've got a bunch of low-level boons, getting 4 random level-ups is probably better; if you've only got a couple of high-level boons, then increasing the Rarity will get you further. Also, some Boons can have higher Rarities but aren't eligible for increased Levels.

    Really recommend buying that fishing rod , will help you more than you think .
    Lady Demeter is my favorite Olympian , and she is also the last to show up , after you went to the surface once . Her boons are really fun to use . You managed to turn the closest range weapon into a long range one .

      I end up purchasing the fishing rod in an upcoming episode... but I have not figured out what to do with it yet...lol.

      @@BenjamightGaming Now that you have the rod, you'll get occasional opportunities to go fishing. There are two tells that a chamber contains a fishing spot. Visually, you'll see a glowing spot in the water with a light coming straight up out of it. Audibly, when you pick up the room's reward (or, for rooms with no reward, as soon as you enter the chamber) you'll hear a distinctive "DING" sound. Find the glow and interact with it to start fishing. Interact a second time at "the right moment" to catch the fish! You'll be able to make use of your fish once you're back at the House.
      As with so many other things, fishing has both a visual and an audible cue. Personally, I actually found it easier to close my eyes and focus purely on the audible cue, but figure out what works best for you!

    i think maybe you should hang on to the floor boss rewards first if you don't know what they're for yet because you might really come to regret it! just like when you traded the titan's blood for gems, one of the most common rewards in the game 😭
    And once you're used to the bosses and dont use your lucky tooth much anymore, Eurydice's and Patroclus's keepsakes are my go-tos. don't forget to check them out!

    I had that jittery bug you had at the start of the vid. (I found that turning off Vsync fixes it).
    Now for something very relevant. What's with the rooster statue you have in the back of your room? :D

    • @BenjamightGaming
      @BenjamightGaming  17 днів тому

      Thanks PeeniPump, that's actually what I did to correct it too - the reboot didn't fix it...lol.
      As for the giant rooster, THIS is reason - just to make a person wonder...lol. It was my Christmas gift from my wife in 2023 - I told her I always wanted one thinking they were super fun. Once I got it, I decided instead of putting it in the front yard (like you're supposed to), I'd put it in my UA-cam background so the whole world could see it. :-)
