Love the Poseidon build you had going on this run . I think the most dangerous attack in Hades' first phase are those casts that have a giant range over the arena .
Hey Ben, first time checking out your non-Dofus channel! Hades is such an awesome game, looks like you play some other cool games here too. Anyway, figured I would listen to you in the background while I grind out kamas 😄. Cheers Ben!
Super awesome Nicky, so glad you decided to check out the channel! Hades has been absolutely phenomenal - haven't escaped yet, but I'm getting closer! ;-)
The fourth episode in one night? Wow! I'm curious - did you get an early start, or did you end up recording way into the night? Ashley Barret performs all the female vocals in Hades, including Eurydice's song. You've also heard her sing as Zia in Bastion and Red in Transistor, and she sings in Pyre too. Amusingly, Eurydice's spoken parts are performed by a different VA. You expressed a wish that you could get a slowdown ability for this run, but that's actually one of your two "Bloodstone lodged in an enemy" choices from the Mirror. Right now, you've got "Boiling Blood," which gives you a fantastic +50% damage for both your Attack and Special for any Bloodstone'd enemy; but you can swap that out for "Abyssal Blood," which reduces foes' speed and damage by 30%. Remember, you can spend a single key to completely reset the Mirror and get all your Darkness back. Deflect isn't a great choice for Theseus - though with really tight timing you _can_ deflect his spear back at him! It can be useful in Styx, as you can actually deflect the satyr's darts back at them (which poisons them!), though the timing is also pretty tight. Most usefully, you can deflect Hades' Skull Cast attack. When you're using the Poseidon sword, remember that it's really designed for a Cast-heavy build; its whole playstyle is to hit the enemy with some really big Casts (the Aspect itself buffs your Cast damage), use the Special to get the Bloodstones back, then do it again. You don't get any benefit using the Special itself as your main attack. The Nemesis sword also uses the Special as a means to an end: start with your Special to proc the extra crit chance, use your primary Attack for 3 seconds to do a bunch of damage, rinse and repeat. Of course, all of that is subject to the boons you end up getting, but you can use the gods' keepsakes to help shape your build. A few more tips for fighting Hades: - Consider getting a Hammer boon that helps against armor. While Hades himself isn't armored, all the little enemies he summons _are,_ and getting them off the field quickly can help a lot. - When the bombs explode, don't try to run _from_ the green rings but instead dash _through_ them. - The shield is probably the easiest weapon to beat Hades with. You shield yourself while you charge the Bull Rush, and as long as you're facing Hades you'll block _all_ of his attacks; and if you keep Bull Rushing him then not only will you be shielding most of the time but the long distance of the attack will get you in and out before he has a chance to retaliate. It can feel a little cheesy, but it also gives you breathing space to internalize his attacks. - The bow or the rail are also excellent, since they let you attack him at range, staying away from his most dangerous attacks. - Now that you're not having any trouble clearing the first three areas, definitely consider using the god keepsakes to get a build that works well with your chosen weapon. My first two escapes were with the shield and the bow, and based on what I've read I think that's a common pattern. Obviously, you do you! Don't get discouraged! You've got this I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to what happens next 😁
lol - it was a late night. It WAS the weekend, with not much going on the next day, so I was able to sleep in a bit, but yeah... 4 episodes, ended up being about 5ish hours of straight Hades gaming. It was EPIC, and I loved it - learned a lot, but definitely needed a break afterwards. Thanks so much for the list of tips, that's very helpful. I never thought about dashing through the ring, I kept trying to escape it...lol. I should definitely give the shield another chance too, especially since my previous run, I never tried 'blocking' with it, so I need to give that a go. There's a pretty good chance I get to boot up Hades again tonight, which I haven't played since Dec. 28th... so I might be a bit rusty at first, but don't be surprised if I get hooked for another 4-episode evening...lol. The game is fantastic. :-)
@@BenjamightGaming Man, two whole weeks?!?! I'm impressed you held off so long ... and I know you talked about having a big lead, but I didn't know it was _that_ big ... and you are going to be _so rusty!_ 🤣
@@RealNazrax It's Friday night, I just logged off work, and my whole evening is free... break out the WD40 baby, because this is about to get real! ;-)
you're gonna get him! Also the god keepsakes only work once, so you can just switch out to another keepsake in the in-between rooms. since poseidon was already in your god pool, poseidon is likely to show up again and yeah if you beat theseus before asterius he takes the god call with him but it is much harder to do bc you have asterius, theseus, and his god call to deal with. so people mostly just beat asterius first so the focus would be on theseus. and the fishing spot in the bone hydra room! haha
I dunno if you figured, were told, or have already noticed. But in Charons shop in the Temple of Styx (the final area); The "expensive" shop items give double the effect. Example the pom of power worth 150 gives 1 level to a boon. The ones worth 300 give 2 levels. The same rule more or less applies to everything in his final shop that has a higher price. Whether it be rarity of a boon or levels gained, or quantity of currency. Edit: Don't lose hope. Hades is a tough MF. He tests your knowledge of all mechanics from prior bosses and he hits like a truck/god. You're going through the same journey the rest of us did :D
Thank you PeeniPump for the tips and the encouragement. I did notice the double-worth, which was super awesome! Too bad that wasn't a feature I could have along the way. ;-)
You missed your first fishing spot! (At least in this episode) If you look in the bone hydra fight, you can see a glowing spot on the right in the lava, that's a fishing spot! There's no reason not to go for them when you see them and you might even get rewarded for it 😉
Greek gods bleed golden ichor, you must have noticed how some characters talk about Zagreus bleeding red like it's a weird thing. He's the only one who bleeds like a mortal. The Hera bow loads your cast into your attack when you press cast. It doesn't go off until you attack. The cast will do its thing when you fire, at the end of the bow attack. It's a little weird but it's really strong with Aphrodite's (or poseidon's) cast with very little effort. You can just pom it until it does ridiculous damage. One time i got lucky and my aphrodite cast got to level 13. I beat Hades so quickly i couldn't help but laugh like a maniac.
That's an interesting thought you point out Aptalsandvic... I hadn't considered that. I'm curious if the story will give me some details on why he bleeds red? Also, thanks for explaining the Hera bow, that's very helpful - definitely going to give that a try.

Yeah, me too... until I realized the 'push back' abilities I was counting on didn't work on Hades...lol.

If youre going to use Hera you should try to get the festive lob cast from dionysus! the burst damage is actually insane + it stun lock regular enemis
Appreciate the tip, thank you 1431, I'll have to remember that.
