The purpose of the prophecies was to cover the period of time from Daniel himself in second exile unto C1st AD Messiah and the demise of the Jewish nation at the time of the end in 70 AD their third exile into the nations. Think about it the 4th Kingdom of iron and clay even back in Daniel 2 was Rome and cannot be purely historical to the BC Greek period because Rome came after Greece.
