Agreed….X was way younger than my generation but I respect what he was talking about and his talent. It’s a shame he never got to show us his transformation into being a good person and how open he was about his struggles and how he was trying to do better and was doing better and boom he was taken out. I know in my gut Drake has something to do with that! I watched that trial of Xxx and it made no sense. Those men were hired. I get that people wake up and go out to rob people but they happened to make that decision that day and happen to run into XXX when he had a bag full of money, straight from the bank, and they robbed him of the money. The chain. But they continued to shoot him. Right below the neck. Which Drake references in one of his songs; how the only time he shoots, sms, below the neck, xxx. Something along those lines and then the Astro world video that was so directly in our faces. And then his line about how “he would be alive if he held his tongue on that live”. And many other lines. “Do it for a Louis belt cause he don’t know nothing else”. Xxx had a Louis bag not belt but Drake knows what he doing with those lyrics. Drake is a throw a rock and hide your hand type of person. I hate them type of people. My grandma would warn me of those type of people. Damn shame.

I think some of the anger from Kendrick towards Drake stems from XXX. He was a fan of X and told people to listen to his music and brought him out on his tour to perform a couple songs. Drake does a couple genres of music but X did all genres of music and he had a big male following and female following and Drake’s fans are mostly women. Triplet flows are common going back to late 80s-early 90s southern hip hop. Having the exact same pattern, delivery, and word emphasis is weird though. The end rhyme is even the same. Especially weird when it’s shortly after X’s song blew in the mainstream.
Every artist wants their own style but I’ve hear an artist quote something like, “good artist create, great artist copy”.. something like that but basically meaning, it’s all been done before and many artist are fans of other artist.
