    So many bad comments but also completely normal when it comes to satisfying Bloc Party fans. They have released 6 studio albums of which at least four are great but they are all different and (some) fans and lots of critics are so annoyed because it's unpredictable! Instead, it's so liberating and great to hear and witness this kind of band, who just go on and do whatever they feel instead of copying Silent Alarm indefinitely - 'cause what a total bore that would have been. The new album is great!

      Fans being fans. If they did 5 copies of Silent Alarm, they would say "omg! Why they always sound the same?! Can't they be more creative?"

    I haven't kept up with BP, have a copy of SA gathering dust from the desert remains of my garden being dug up by the dogs and blown into the back/music room, liked Kele's solo dance stuff...and quite liked this. Don't know what all the fuss is about in the comments, though it does remind me of comment sections under more recent Queens of the Stone Age tracks from fans that just wanted Songs for the Deaf ad-infinitum and/or were moaning that it's not the same without Nick Oliveri. Bands change, both line-ups and sound. I'd rather things evolved. The old material is still out there if that's the only era of this band that you were into. I played a Pixies track from the 6MF before this one. Now *_that_* was meh. This got me wanting to hear more new BP stuff. That made me wistful that time and therefore age catches us all eventually...

    A lot of hate on here, makes me wonder if people were ever true fans to begin with? You’re forgetting the original lineup recorded Mercury, One Month Off, Zephyrus lol. This is much better than that period.

      Intimacy was their best album simply because of how much of a U-turn it was on their first two records. Weekend in the City was incredible and Four was decent. What has followed has been dross after dross. Used to be one of my favourite bands, and this isn't just nostalgia talking but they've been absolute dog shit since Matt left.

    I love Bloc Party. Love them. Enjoy every album for one reason or another. This performance is lackluster at best. Justin couldn't make it back in country but I doubt that would've made a difference. Louis' vocals are poor. The only positive I take from this is the solo from Russell. There is no energy in the collective band or the room. This makes me sad.

    •  2 роки тому

      I tend to agree with pretty much everything on your comment. Specially about Justin and the lack of energy of the performance as a whole. Still love them, though....go figure...

      I'm a casual fan, so haven't really kept up with the band after Kele went off and did his solo dance stuff (which I really like).
      I really wanted to like this but...hearing that 2 of the original band are gone, it makes so much sense why I don't. I wish the drummer would just drum, because her vocal additions are just embarrassing.

      @@DrT0705 If you take only this as a reference for the new upcoming album and the addition of Justin and Louise to the writing, I don't think it helps at all. You should look over the full footage on Iplayer or on Alexi's Garcia Yt Channel to check the other new songs. I think this one is the weakest example of the new material.

      @@eatass5627 I'm not a giant fan of anything on Silent Alarm. Those songs have some good melodies but feel like proof of concept for something bigger IMO. Something bigger that they never quite achieved, again I think Hunting For Witches is by far the best song they've ever done. I also love the chorus The Love Within, but cannot otherwise listen to that song due to the electro-Church Organ from Hell.

  • @goodbadalexcat726
    @goodbadalexcat726 2 роки тому +7

    Oh Lord, how boring. Rhythm and arrangements are primitive and completely devoid of any vibe and ingenuity, some kind of transcendent despondency and melancholy emanates from the song.
    How painful it is to see your favorite bands dry up and get old, and you yourself are not getting any younger.

    • @armadill00
      @armadill00 2 роки тому

      I think without the creative drumming of Matt tong and the old bassist licks they’ve become devoid of ideas. They made both garage rock work in there first two albums and then the the third and fourth were great alternative albums. It’s sad what’s happened to them.
