I remember my high school band teacher went over these with us and I never really payed attention since we didn’t really need the theory, but now that I’m learning bass I actually need it
I eat those lessons like "Wiener Schnitzel", can't get enough of it. TalkingBass.net is my menue. Very well teached and understandable even for german speaking like me.
You just made a very valid point at 7:00. It's been bugging me for a while. So in case when I'm playing a natural minor, the 5th degree scale as far as I know, relates to a phrygian mode which a minor mode. I was always confused as to why the harmony works in a way if the root is Am, the 5th degree is often a major chord being an E. Now what you just mentioned sort of confirms my suspicion why E is a major 5 if the root position is minor A. Is this the case? Thanks bass brother.
Hi mark nice lesson btw i would like to aske some questions: 1. Where do i can apply melodic minor or harmonic? 2. Can we convert natural minor with those scale/ Or dominant scale while phrasing? 3. Is there any melodic major or harmonic major scale? Thank you mark
Thanks for demystifying minors keys. Can I default to any one of the minors keys when jamming? e.g. if someone says a song/riff is in C minor, can I simply use the relative major scale (D Sharp Major) and play the notes in that scale? Or do I have to know whether it's a Harmonic or Melodic minor scale? Thanks again.
these are tha patterns:
1:40 natural minor scale
5:43 harmonic minor scale
7:39 melodic minor scale
3:54 understand relative minor/ major
Too much info to digest all at once. Great job! You know your stuff. I just cannot keep up.
I got the natural minor down but after that everything just went in one ear and out the other

I need to use these playing bassin an Irish band with a fiddler doing jigs and reels in various keys

Ratio between talking and showing is unballanced here and causes confusion. Consider that, mate.
