You must definitely be the best bass instructor I have ever seen! Not everyone who is a talented performer has also the ability to teach properly. You my friend possess both! Thank you for so many great videos and information!!!
What do we do to deserve you, Mark? Goddamn is everything on this channel so amazing for learning, and it's not all intentionally confusing in the way that Scott's Bass stuff is. Just great quality lessons for free, we wholeheartedly appreciate you my dude!
Hey Joseph, I love Scott and his site, just a different approach. Scott is a great player and his depth of understanding equals anything I am hearing here (no shade on Mark)...let's just appreciate everyone who is trying to make us sound awesome!
Man these have been suuuuch amazing practice tools for me to increase speed, accuracy, and strength. After about 3 weeks I’ve started to get my finger and plectrum picking both up from about 80-85 BPM max to a comfortable 110BPM on the final exercise. Thanks so much for this free information!!
Hi Mark, I want to thank you for all your help in teaching me to play bass. Your instructions are not only informative, fun to practice, but also easy to understand. I look forward to your next lessons.
I follow other bass teachers too but I don't wana name them....they r selfish.........u r the only one whose lessons are readily available in tab notataion for free........thanks for not being selfish like them.....u r a true teacher for growing musicians u share ur knowledge..... thans mark all da way from darjeeling india.....keep up da good job.......
thank you so much! i`ve been mocking around so much with studying bass via the web - and you are the only one i know who makes it all so clear and simple. you are a treasure. keep making the world a better place!!
Excellent jam . Reminds me of a "Geezer Butler" riff from earlier "Black Sabbath" days . There is so much you can do with it . Thank you for taking the time .
Thanks for actually taking time to thoroughly explain everything! Also I wouldn’t have considered letting the snare breathe until you mentioned it, and you’re right, the music as a whole sounds much better that way.
Thanks Mark. A true gent. Selfless, generous, enthusiastic and to top it all off a great do it it in chunks teacher. You don't do a whole lot of waffle either, straight to the point. Your an inspiration.
wow man ..been playing bass since i was 13 i am 54 now ...and still learning new stuff ...and you my friend have helped my playing a lot ...even my band mates are like dude you got better whats up ?? thank you for all the videos you have been a great help ...
hi, i am trying to find to find some "drums backing track" to train on it at home(i possible of various rythms, funk, pop, rock). May be that i can use on FL Studio and change the bpm. Are there some website where i can download them?
I specially love the little inputs you give in music theory which i find super interesting. Please keep that up, it helps me understand why songs are built in a specific kind of way and how songs work much better. I love it, thanks!
Just signed on and doing my homework. New bass purchase next Friday, then practice, practice practice. Been a long time but now have the time so no excuses. Lookin forward to utilizing the info you’ve made easy to understand. Like I said, it’s been awhile. Cheers.
This video is golden! Great teaching technique! I really appreciate the zoom ins on the guitar. Really helpful how you take the sweet long times to repeat every note. This is definitely a great learning tool.
Wow, this video was uploaded 6 years ago and it's still popular. My guess is it will still be popular 60 years from now, because it's one of the best bass lessons ever.
looove these videos, thank you so much for explaining everything so clearly. i've been playing bass for quite some time and your lessons are really filling in the gaps of my playing!
Hello Mark I would like to appreciated your lesson.. you make a sophisticated sound line to be so simple and easy to learn..you are one of the best bass teacher I found. Thanks again for this video..
Thank you for all your lessons. I have enjoyed most online teachers for something unique but as a beginner bass player it seems that I have learned the most constructive and cohesive from you. Maybe a Scott thing ;-)
U remind me of my old teacher I learn't everything off him from A to Z but haven't played for about 10yrs. just bought new Ibanez SR300 & i'll be teachinfg my-self again but just want to refresh my-self enough to play a few songs again & run the neck like I use to so to make playing easy for me haven't quiet worked out how to download ur work yet give me time LOL ! But in the time I'll be following u to learn most things again !
I'll throw in my two cents here just because kids forget sometimes that PENTAtonic means 5 notes, and the blues scale w/b5 or blue note, become a HEXAtonic meaning 6 notes. So basically it's the same scale with the added blue note or flat (b5).Good teacher.Loved your lesson on Bass chords, very well explained.
NIce job, nice bass, and it's wonderful to see somebody emphasize the importance of right hand technique. It's so important to alternate fingers even when it feels unnatrual at first in order to get speed. You see so many bass players that just do like they feel on the right hand but it's a hinderance to reaching really great speed and articulation.
Hi, I see you play different bass guitars and the sound of this one is quite different than the sound of your jazz bass. What type of bass would you choose for what style of music ? Thanks.
Laid in bed thinking I couldn't do that in a million years. Now tea time and I can do it! You do great tutorials fella. Thanks, a fellow W Yorks bloke :) Incidentally, have you always had Simms pups on that bass?
Looks like an Ibanez SR. Not sure if Prestige, Premium or Standard. I believe you can find all the available models and subcategories here. www.ibanez.com/products/u_eb_pre17.php?year=2017&cat_id=2&series_id=51
Hi Mark! Love your videos but having trouble hearing your bass. Anyway to mic your amp or direct feed the signal? Hard to hear your playing. Especially low notes and when your talking and/ or counting during play. Thank you for the lessons!
Are you watching on a mobile device or laptop? If so, you're always going to have a problem hearing bass properly when other things are going on (just try transcribing a bassline from a mobile phone and you'll see what I mean). I have to be careful not to mix too much for phones and the like because the bass will be completely overpowering on headphones and normal speakers. As it stands, the mix sounds perfect through studio monitors.
You must definitely be the best bass instructor I have ever seen! Not everyone who is a talented performer has also the ability to teach properly. You my friend possess both! Thank you for so many great videos and information!!!
I agree 💯
You're the absolute best bass teacher online Mark
You're a great teacher, dude. Thanks a lot for being so genourous with your time and knowledge.

"Letting the snare breath." It's those little gems that I wouldn't have considered. Thanks!

Best bass instructor on net period.
You are an excellent teacher and an amazing player, the two don’t exclusively got together. Thank you so much 👍🏿👍🏿👏🏿👏🏿
thank you so much! i`ve been mocking around so much with studying bass via the web - and you are the only one i know who makes it all so clear and simple. you are a treasure. keep making the world a better place!!
Excellent jam . Reminds me of a "Geezer Butler" riff from earlier "Black Sabbath" days . There is so much you can do with it . Thank you for taking the time .
Iron man? A minor riff of the bass line is literally a minor pentatonic with two added notes (one blue)

Great job man. You are really teaching how to play instead of showing how good you are to play( as it often happen with tutos).
Ghislain Gautier Cheers. As you might have noticed...I don't give a toss about showing off.

Great stuff Talking Bass Dude. Thanks
I am learning lots of things from you.
This is really good! Thanks
Awesome! Thank you.
I don't normally like humbuckers on a bass but this is a nice meaty tone.
