I have two autistic children that refuse to go to the hairdressers, your videos make it possible for me to give them nice hair styles rather that a bad cut with no style. So thank you.
What Paul says is absolutely spot on! Every single time I have gone to hairdressers in the last few years I have come out absolutely hating it!! It's been the complete opposite if what I asked for and that is down to the hairdressers, they have driven me to cutting my own hair!!
I have thick curly hair. I gave up salons 😮years ago. Hairdressers don't listen. And they only know how to cut by a formula they learned in beauty school Thanks to you i can cut my own hair. Changed my life.
To the message at the beginning, I appreciate these videos. I have severe anxiety. When the pandemic restrictions started, I began cutting my hair at home and I'm so grateful to be able to learn how to.
I'm a new licensed cosmetologist, I also just got hired at a barber shop. Sure, it is mostly men and boys who come in. But women come in to get their hair cut too. The place I work at. They really don't want hair cuts that go over a certain time frame. So for me, seeing tricks like this, how you simplify them and show how to achieve them in just a few steps. Makes a huge difference. Paul, please keep teaching.
I've gotten my hair cut professionally about 5 times in my life. Every time I'd go, I would need to fix it myself. These videos help me immensely. Thanks!
You are a God! I totally agree Paul if a hairdresser feels threatened by your tutorials they should make sure they have the skills to keep their clients because they obviously have never experienced the horrors of paying good hard earned money on a disastrous hair cut style or colour.💗
I'm in Cosmo school and I'm learning SO MUCH MORE about how the hair lays and what over direction really does in 3 videos than I have in 5 months of school ❤❤❤
I'm currently a nurse and wanting to start over with a career doing hair...I love your videos and learning a lot! Would love to see more videos like this and even more basics for beginners
I can't understand why they won't let nurses work part time. Maybe you'd like to do one day as a nurse and 3 as a hairdresser and have the rest off... They would have waaay more nurses if they allowed this, even if they allowed it every few years. Thank you so much for the work you did as a nurse and I hope whatever path you choose now it makes you happy, because you deserve it.
I am not a cosmetologist but have cut mine own hair for years. I just really enjoy watching your approach to this process & the beautiful results gained from it ~

YES! I'm only about 1 minute in and I agree with you wholeheartedly. "If people want to cut their own hair at home they will." I've been cutting my own hair, my husband's hair and my daughter's hair at home for YEARS. I have no formal training and I'm not a hairdresser/cosmetologist. I'm just now looking into tutorials and videos on how I can do a better job. I'm already doing it anyways... LOVE your videos. I love learning new things about areas I know nothing or very little about.
OMG this is the exact haircut I wanted last time! But my hairdresser really struggled with it and left the back way to long... At least I could send her this video and boom! Thank you 💓
Love these sooooo much! I can do my daughters’ hair AND MY OWN now with some education behind me! You’re right-I’m going to do our hair at home even if I don’t know what I’m doing-which I’ve done for years. Now I can do a super amazing job with compliments all around. Thank you soooo much and keep it up no matter how much baloney you get from people who want to gatekeep and make it way more complicated than it has to be.
Thank you so much for your content💜 i have cut my own hair for over 10yrs and you put it perfectly - if someone is cutting their own hair instead of going to the hairdressers, it's on them. 🤣 thanks again!
You're a genius! I'm new here. I've been cutting my own hair since I was 15 because hair stylists in my old neighborhood, ALWAYS messed my hair up. I took a few cosmetology classes in H.S, so I took the basics with me. I shaved my head for a short pixie, about 3 years ago and it came out pretty good. I used the method you did to blend. Its refreshing to see someone of your expertise using a similar technique, but making it look so much easier! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for these videos! I have thick, wavy/curly hair. Sad to say, most stylists over style and over cut my hair. I usually end up having to balance length in sides, or adding more layers in back! I have boldly cut my hair, in many styles since 1973. Long, short, layered, or bobs, etc. For this cut, I do two cuts. The first one is all hair pulled back, very low on the neck, straight down, to get the proper length in back. The second pony is higher up, likes this one…I go 2-3” inches and separate hair from the first cut. This makes it easier for me (single person, who lives alone) to get the proper length in back. After each cut, I texturize the ends. The bottom one after pulling up second pony… then second pony is textured while still in pony. Often, I use the thinning scissors on the very ends about 1” back to texturize. I very rarely have weird chunks to clean up. And wearing as a wavy/curly Bob, it hides any errors! Thank you for showing us its OK to cut at home!
I had hair past the middle of my back and a "professional" hairdresser really did a number on it and I came out with a shaved pixie. Growing out a pixie is a nightmare that I was not prepared for. I used your two pony wolf cut and did it yesterday. It's funny because I started cutting my sister's hair when I was 8 back in the 80s using that technique lol Oh my goodness! After you cut the pony off is how the hairdresser left mine but it was extremely uneven and butchered! I have pictures beside a practice mannequin as a meme now lol
Wish I saw this clip when I decided to give myself a graduated Bob during early covid time. Disaster is the best word to explain the outcome😭. Thank you for doing what you do.
I'm a license stylist and love learning EASIER techniques because I still question Myself and overthink everything, not as bad as I used to but after years doing hair I'm still hard on myself! SMH so thank you for your videos 🥰 I love the three ponytails A-line bob technique you did I'm doing it on my daughter as I'm typing this. I will post the pics when I'm done.
thank you so much these serve me well with my clients with hair replacements.... thank you😘😘😘😘😘its a blessing i found you these ladies i just got them from one of my co worker that just retire and these is what she use to do on them . i'm more of a free style and lots of layers on long hair because my clientele is from a younger generation. thank you
Yo me he cortado el pelo toda la vida pero a mi manera.Ahora me has salvado la vida porque el resultado es fantástico con tus técnicas.Muchas gracias 👍
Been cutting my own hair for the past 10 years with a pair of thinning sears. It turns out "nice" every time, but it doesn't have that smooth volume in the back. I'm sooo trying this 🤞🏻
If you wanted the length slightly longer than this, would it make more sense to add a second ponytail underneath this one and cut in between at your desired length, or to just slide this ponytail straight down from where it is to the correct length? Or does this technique just not work for a slightly longer length of this cut? I have to say, I'm incredibly intrigued! I love the simplicity of this technique, it isn't complicated and only requires thorough blending, it's quite fast to complete, and you can predict the process more accurately, but being inexperienced with this technique, I don't know how making alterations to it would effect the result. I can't wait to give it a try sometime though, thanks for sharing!
Another brilliant video and I totally agree that this method is a good and quick example of what is going on ,I would have loved this when I started out ❤
This is like Pivot Point method. Is that how you were trained? Hard to find a stylist that understands this technique. I usually have to do adjustments on mine after a cut, lol. Our instructor also had us save floor clippings. We had to make color boards with 72 swatches of hair for color and color correction as part of our education. I have always been thankful for my instructor. She was a certified color tech for a very well known hair color brand, and very good at it
Thank you for your video its very helpful for me as begginers managing my mini salon at home..ongoing learning cutting of hair...your techniques was very easy and simple to follow...
For some of us…it’s hard to find a safe salon. I have a wheat allergy and celiacs, and both conditions keep me away from them because so many sprays, shampoos, etc have wheat germ in them or other wheat ingredients. Even if they are not being used on me they are still in the air and on touchable surfaces. Breathing it in not good for me as well the touching of it. I get hives and breathing attacks. I don’t do elaborate haircuts like this but I do cut my own. It’s fun to watch a good stylist that can show their work in very easy to understand concepts. Nice job!
I'm a customer but your absolutely correct everyone I let try to cut my hair in a layered bob seems to know really know how to do it because they make it seem to complicated and it's really not .
I just discovered your channel, you really know how to give instructions in a very easy way, and I am really thankful and appreciate your hard work and talent, have a question though, does this technique work on curly hair? Last time I cut my hair myself it was a disaster

I wish you cut my hair in Houston like that . That is perfect… I moved from New Jersey in New Jersey the hair styles are perfect. Over here I went in two years 10 different salon to cut my hair like that. I am so disappointed. The beauty salon in here they can not cut bob styles .
That's right....my hairdresser is an antivaxer. Can't go there right now. I will definitely get back as soon as I can find one that cut curly hair. An animal of it's own. Thanks. I was already using two pigtails and combing the front section into a pony tail and cutting it to the tip of my nose. So I found your three pigtail cut. I only had to blend very little on the top corners. I knew my way was wrong but better than Bush woman curly hair. This is definitely a desperation hair cut. But ....anyone worried......really cannot do hair.
