I vote for putting the Fan behind the radiator in the middle of the radiator.
That 1in move of the fender brackets did the trick. The front end looks to line up very good. and it looked a lot better with nice gaps. Job well done Dave, spot on.
fan goes at the top of the rad where the coolant is the hottest.Chevys have rad cradle that sits ib shell and supports front sheet metal on a frame crossmember.
Dave it all looks great… You’re a patient man who thinks thing out. Us Chevy guys have to realize there’s more involved than an easier car…. We also get to laugh at Ford guys who go crazy when you remind them they put a GM engine in THEIR Ford…
Especially appreciated your inner door safety brace that I’d never thought about-
Thank much
Oh my, you are such an optimist when you first open the garage door, but then reality sets in...
Dave you need a rad cradle to attach your radiator and it fits your grille shell
Hey Dave, I was just watching DD Speed Shop and he was talking rear ends and said he has 3 or 4 extra pumpkins. If I was you I'd get in touch with him and I'm sure that he would trade you one of his higher geared pumpkins for yours seeing he plays with high horse power cars and can use a 456 gear setup and is into burn outs. He's into trading and You may be able to get a pumpkin for the price of shipping and It wouldn't hurt to ask. Good luck - Later
Thanks Dave watching you encourage me to keep working on my 37 Chevy master. I do most of work also.
Place your fan at the top on engine side of radiator, hot water enters radiator at top.
I'm glad to see you happy Dave seem like you're much happier when you got projects I'm the same way some of your videos you seem pretty down I get it glad to see you got something going thanks for the videos I really like them
That should work, sure is a lot of dents and prangs in the cardboard. I believe the remnants of our polar vortex are headed your way, it's finally gonna warm up tomorrow a little.
BRACKETS GOODY I LOVE BRACKETS.......!
The panels are fitting well , good work 👍
I dig your car it is the bomb. I so much want a coup but I am losing hope that will ever happen. Thank you for your honest assessment of the cost of owning a car as such that was an awesome video. I enjoyed watching you struggle through this one. that is what I feel I do whenever I am working on my vehicles. It's still nothing but positive. I can't wait for the ride with it cooling the way it should. Should be great.
Great video 👍
I agree Dave..fan behind the radiator. I made a shroud around the radiator and never had a cooling problem!
The hot water comes in at the top, fan should be at the top. The fender gaps look good.
Heat rises plus hot water comes it at top.
nice looking ride
Great job with the sheet metal alignment.
Pure luck, but thanks.
Nice Brackets!
hey Dave that worked out nice there are some dual fans that are very thin and you can set them up to run at different temps so 1 is main and the other is for when you push it to hard lol you wouldn't do that though
while it's apart if you have an old inner tube you can cut it up to go between the fender and the body on both sides and it will cut down on some more rattles
Dave you need the radiator support that fits inside your grille. I'm sure I remember you mentioning on your last video that Ted sent one to you. Dig around in the garage a bit and see if you can find it.
It was designed for a very old radiator. My new one doesn't fit.
That's strange. Usually manufacturers build to fit existing openings . Have seen other cars with rad installed in cradle. Make sure you stiffen up grill, rad gets heavy when filled and when you hit bumps grill will twist. Good time to install fender welting and webbing to stop squeaking. Like the brackets LOL
Coming out great otherwise!!!!!ive seen slim fans connected to a piece of aluminum also inside the engine bay would be same size as radiator and possibly 2fans slimline for better fit!!!!dont be in a rush can’t drive it in all that snow anyway!!! Well you could but would you want to!!!??????
I missed the CLEAN BENCH, Happy Brat now art we....
Dave I set my fan in front of the radiator works great. I'm running a 99 Ls 4.8 out of a 99 Silverado, 4 speed Le60e and a 99 S10 rear end.
Hey Dave. The gaps are really looking good. I wish that I did what you did with your Radiator. PROTECT IT WITH SOMETHING. I ended up dinging my rad. I don't know if it leaks or not yet.😧 Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
I probably wouldn't have covered it if Glen hadn't told me to. So, saved by my new hot rod friends again, lol.
Dave. Are you familiar with DD Speedshop? He lives in Canada (I believe in the eastern part) and does a lot of 55 to 57 stuff, builds race type cars. He might have a rear end with gears more suitable for your requirements.
I’m doing the same rebuild on my ‘35 Master coach… looks like you’re missing the original inner surround shroud that allows the radiator to slide into-
I have to dissect my original radiator out of that heavy shroud that also supports the grille shell - bolts to the sides- I’m going to rubber mount my new aluminum radiator to prevent stress crack failure.
Sixth!
My 39 Chevy has a thick gauge u shaped core which bolts to the crossmember and supports the grill shell, fender brackets etc., I think a full radiator may be too heavy for sheet metal brackets
Yeah, I'll probably fab up some kind of support
Need to run an Alumimum expansion tank you are going to have a big air pocket
The front sheet metal looked so good in the mockup Dave ! Is that fan meant to be a pusher or a puller, I would go by that to start with. Look forward to seeing how you sort it.
Didnt Ted give you a mount cradle for that grille shell, im sure you said it's behind the door at the back of the garage behind all the tools and stuff.
Yes, but it doesn't fit.
Thats a shame, looks like you have it sussed out though 😊
You got a better sized radiator.. I'm happy for you Dave!
Is there webbing kit in between the fender pieces too? Its good to see her coming along though..
Dave contact the radiator company they may have a slim fan or know where you can find it!!!!?????
Do they sell a dual fan that'll fit your whole radiator and not being very sick so you have plenty of room
Is turny bit a Scottish technical term
I thought it was universal.
you would save yourself some grief if you used the radiator core support...you said you have it in the corner of your garage
Now that you have a larger radiator would a mechanical fan work now?
Also, do you plan to add A/C? Might need room for the condenser.
Just curious, why not use the water pump mounted fan?
Because I'm just stupid enough to lose a hand to one, lol
@@ScottRods At least the mechanical fan doesn't jump to full speed when ever it feels like it! 8^)
@@artpam Efficiency is not my middle name, lol
8:35 No I didn't Dave glen didn't make you do it lol well not this one
Put to small fans on from speedway motors , not that japan junk
Don't have Speedway in Canada.
