Fixing the previous owner idiotic reverse light wiring job.how to fix a reverse light on a semi

My reverse light would only work by flipping a switch on the dash and sometimes it work when it feels like it. So i had to figure out how to wire the reverse light back to factory so when i put the transmission in reverse the light will come on.

You the man i just fixed mine. Thanks for your help. I also have my brake light doesn't come on when i push the brake, while my trailer brake light works' and truck tail lights, turn signals work fine. Any idea please ?

I would advise you to swap out your brake light fuse and ralay since those or cheap to replace. Trace and check all wires associated with your brake light for broken wires. Go up to your brake light switch with a test light. Start testing from the switch to the back of the truck where the lights are. If there are wire loom tubing, open them just enough to check the wires.before you do all this, take the trailer lights and put it on the truck to see if they work. You are sure to find the problem with one of these ideas above.

Thanks for the great video. What's the part number for that switch. I checked mine. It has 2 switches. One like yours and one with a connector in the top front on the transmission, it wasn't hooked to anything.

Which wire supplies power power to the reverse switch and how do you check for it please?

The best way to find the power wire is to use a multimeter or a test light on the light harness. Try with and without the vehicle in reverse to compare your test.
