I am enjoying seeing all your work. How about milling a flat spot on the dop sticks so the screws on you transfer tool hold them in place relative to each other?
Hey mate beautiful work as always; i was wondering whether you would be able to upload a video of your faceting machine as a whole i.e. how you set up the motor, ext. Currently building my own faceting machine and need to design how to mount the mast/head and build a design to house the motor ext. Would be highly appreciated if you could take the time to make a video for me :). Cheers
Hi Auslap, in my 20+ videos I showed already quite a lot of details of my faceting machine. However, I didn't shoot a video with an entire description of my machine yet, that is definitely a good idea. Unfortunately as I'm having already quite a backlog of my projects, it might still take some months until I get there. But thanks for your interest!
Wonderful work! I've been rewatching your videos for a while now. I want to make one too! To find a chuck like yours what do I look for ?? other than the electronics I think I can build one much cruder than yours. I just picked up a set of angle dials on eBay I'm hoping they are accurate as the price was cheep. So I'll have to build the quile around this cheep brass... Your the only one I can find that has attempted to build on your own Cudos to you! very elegant.
thanks a lot for the cudos. a chuck to hold the dop would e.g. be something like this: www.aliexpress.com/item/32806223380.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dDqovyX or this www.aliexpress.com/item/32863204696.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dpfsi0T . good luck!
@@GemWorks OOps! Did not know you had responded... Thanks so much! My machine is slowly coming along. I purchased a Harbour freight small drill press, removed the motor and the safety cover of the pully system. Replaced the motor with a DC from a treadmill and added a speed controller. I added some plastic to the top of the front pully to place the diamond disk and added a table that covers the pullies. I should still be able to use it as a drill + when faceting it is perfect height while sitting on a chair. It looks cool but god knows with vibration and wiggle room from the pulleys etc. In any case definitely not going to match your machine by fare but if all goes bad I'll use it to sharpen my chisels and plains Etc. Anyway hoping for the best and thanks for the info. and sharing!! PS Your design is by far the best example of the workings on youtube I can find let alone a very nice build.
Nicely done ;)
In 2 years from now i think we'll see you making a cnc faceter.
Keep it up.
Haha! You're so right. But I hope it won't take two years... I already have a design for a CNC cutter :-)
Thanks!
Gem Works
And hopefully you will share the process with us...! Cheers mate
Well done. Some nice tight close ups also, both on the rotation alignment and on the gem. Quite a few vids where you can barely see the facets. Cheers
Gute Idee wie immer super umgesetzt.
