You have 1000 ideas for making and I have 3 ideas first how to make cheap and investment and marketing.i really enjoyed of your experience and expert and have full information (mechanical: electronic and cutting gemstone).you are best
Hi there Frank here did measured the master lap left too right but did you measure the forward and back measurement of master or the flex of the mast while putting light pressure on the quill representing cutting or polishing also vertical axis of mast too the horizontal plain of the master disk left right in out then mast up and down for vertical good luck , so far it's a nice job looking good from Geelong Victoria Australia a faceter
Hi Frank, thanks. Indeed, I didn't measure all possible deviations. However, moving the mast forward to backwards I did, though. And it looks similar to left/right. The mast definitely has a little flex, the lap on the outer diameter has, too. But that's something that I control very well during cutting. Greetings from Vienna, Austria
Could another head be retrofitted to this?... it looks like it could.... something like an ultratec v5 head? ............ either way, I'm totally impressed by your engineering of this machine
Congratulations for the project and the great videos, I would like to know the model of the German engine from Baumuller, if you can pass the link of the model and technical specification I would be grateful.
Thanks! The model of the Baumüller motor is GDM120 N, 24VDC, I=11,1A, n=1800 rpm, P=190W. - Not sure exactly which link to the specs works best for you. Here's a link to the PDF describing the series of Baumüller where this motor is in (German): www.baumueller.com/de/component/cck/?task=download&file=download_datei&id=353 . Alternatively use a search engine for other information.

Hi, I think I've been following your building process somewhere before. Everything seems very cool, great work! I would like to ask you what solution did you use for speed control? And is it possible to run the disk in both ways? I'm ok with building mechanical stuff, but so clumsy with electrics, so I'd like to have some simple solution :) Thanks so much!
Hello Gem Works! I have another question. As I have a faceting machine with analogue dial I would like to equip it with digital one, modify it. Which encoder sensor brand did you use?
A motor is only used for turning the lap 😉. The faceting angle is tracked with a rotary encoder sensor, which you easily find via google. Also when reaching the target angle, a simple touch sensor is indicating that. More details in my other videos! KR
Thanks a lot. Yes I did cut already some stones, e.g. instagram.com/p/ByHh7tAI5u1/ or other recent stones shown in my Instagram feed. I'm very happy with the machine!
@@ShapingSilver There's mostly no specific intended use. I just aim to get the nicest result out of a piece of rough. For sure I don't lock them away once cutting is done 🙂.

Thanks a lot Marco! It's a Baumüller GDM 120 N - 528/0750 Scheibenläufermotor (Pancake motor) 190W 1800rpm 24VDC. But attention, a new one is expensive! Keep your eyes open on second hand platforms, they are rare, but appear then and when. Cheers, Peter
@@mark1618phi Indeed I found one on ebay recently, but it can take a few weeks. I saw prices between EUR 100 and 200. The price of a new one i don't know, but I guess more than 500. good luck!

I love the disk motor choice
Thank you for all the work required to post these videos. If I ever decide to make a faceting machine, well, you know.

That is not an easy question. I'd say the range is between € 1.500 and € 5.000. Depending, if well and accurately constructed.
