This video just solidified my purchase of a Macbook M3 max 16" 36gb 1TB SSD, for video and music production!!!!! Str8t to the point! No chasers! Thank you..... I just subscribed!
I have a Mac now, my first one. It's the m3 max 16 core 40 core, 64 lgb memory and 2tb of storage. I edited a 4k video, it was 3:56 long. it took 38 seconds to export. Another video with multiple cameras including a 360, it was 30 minutes long, took 3:55 to export. My windows laptop with an 11 gen i9 and a 3060 GPU took 2 hours to export a 17 minute 4k gopro footage. whole time fans were on full blast. My m3 max? Did not hear the fans one time. This is a beast of a machine.
Thanks for sharing, I'm torn between buying it at BestBuy or waiting to hear what M4 are announced this October/November. I do long form content, being able to export 30 minutes fast at a time would be very helpful, it would change my life actually. Oh God am I talking myself into buying it today with this comment 🤣
Thank you so much for creating exactly the video I needed to make my decision! Battery life is crucial for me during my travels, and export speed isn't as big of a priority. I used to have a Dell XPS 14, which was great for traveling on my motorcycle because of its lighter weight, but the battery would only last 2-3 hours. After watching your video, I decided to go with the M3 Pro with the same specs you tested, and I'm really happy with it. I almost bought the Max, but I'm glad I found your video first. Thanks again for your helpful review! 🏁
Did you take into account that the Max has 2 video décoder engine instead of just one for the Pro ? So, exporting files will take roughly half the time for the Max than it takes for the Pro !
Had to get a new puter since the msi stealth charge cord faulted. Got the Mac Pro max 3 from Best Buy. Glad I did with the wedding edits I need for my photography business
Depends on the programs you use. I mainly do video editing in Final Cut Pro. Also use light room and photoshop. I’ve only seen my ram usage go up to 30 with all 3 open. I would have maxed it out if funding would allow but for what I do it works good for me.
I can tell you from a friend who has the M3 Max that it still sucks ass a playing video games compared to regular Windows 10 laptop. The macbook of course has never been a gaming machine, but it is evident their laptops are for work and video editing.
@@JRESHOW My theory is it isn't the CPU that is the issue but the GPU. After research I could not find what the GPU is they will not tell you other then how much memory it has. This makes me believe it is a proprietary GPU and it is designed solely around video editing and picture augmentation. It isn't large enough to deal with the heat it generates from the intense graphical requirements of gaming. With that said it isn't a bad thing. I have never known someone who uses a MacBook to play intense games. I'm sure it plays older games and basic games off the app store just fine. Bottom line the Macbook's customer base is not gamers which is not a big deal.
@@JRESHOW Two different worlds. I have a NVS 810 running in three of my employees computers because they use three monitors each. The job of that Nvidia card is to dual 3-6 monitors flawlessly and carry that graphical load all day long. It cannot play video games that aren't at least 7-8 years old. It wasn't built for that, and based on specs, user data, etc. the GPU in the Macbook Pro is specifically built for what youtube creators and photolovers want.
Straight into the point with real life scenarios. I’m tired of other videos just giving me more specs. Very good job.

hello ! i have a question. This mac is good for 3d like Blender ?
@@ablieu1690I have no clue, but it's a power house, so I assume so
@@toncatboy thanks ! have a nice day
hello how are you enjoying it? cause I wanna get same spec for same reason.
We forget to consider that even with this big of a difference , M3 Pro still outperforms its competitors immensely

It's absolutely revolutionary.

@@CatacombMan reports show there won't be much of a difference with the M4's. The big changes are coming with the M5. Go get one now if you need it
i9 13900k and 14900k are much better because of quick sync
How the difference is so much significant? i think i should go for M3 Max from my mac mini m1.

Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks
Best comparison video I’ve seen
my jaw just dropped😬 m3max outperforms m3pro significantly......

@@Bivouac20 you're absolutely right. The speed in exporting is highy related to amounts of decoder engine. almost forget about this .
Thank you ❤

Thoughts on the RAM size on the MAX - 36,48, 64? In what cases might I need more RAM?

Have you measured temperatures while exporting ? Thanks.
I haven’t. But I haven’t heard the max fan kick on yet either like I’ve heard others say..
@@JRESHOW I wonder whether running the M3 at a high temp would affect its life span.
Blender test please

You’d think if it can handle heavy workloads it would do good with gaming so good to know!
