I saw them earlier this month on the fifth. They blew me away because I only of them by their song from the sorcerers apprentice. I might have enjoyed them more than fallout boy
THE ENERGY. Something about bands from this era just brought a totally unattainable element on stage with them. For me, it's especially evident around 2:15 when the solo starts. Gives me chills every time.
Underrated? Everyone I know knows this band, and everyone I know knows about 'The Middle'. In their prime they were played on the radio a lot. They are not underrated. If you want an underrated band, look for something like Gun Club. This is not underrated by any stretch, this video alone has over a million views.
+XoxeroThePoet You're thinking unknown. I'd say these guys are underrated, and that's because people ONLY know them for The Middle, which, in my opinion, is a very weak song. They don't know the true talented masterminds behind songs like Sweetness and Bleed American, so they pass them off. I think underrated fits nicely.
i know like deni said the newer kids just like terrible music this is what i call talent a very good underrated band rock use to be the most popular thing ever now its just fading T.T
Idk maybe their hit "in the middle " had to do with it. I always associated it with the spread of gay. And I didn't like it. But I do like the rest of their songs
I have been watching Jimmy Eat World open for bands since 1993. They are from Mesa, AZ and I am from Phoenix. They were definitely more poppy in the beginning with Tim Linton as the original lead singer. Also I ❤️ the split 7" with Christie Front Drive from 1994.
This whole album is so nostalgic to me. It's one of my mom's favorite bands so she used to play this all the time in the car. Doesn't help that they're all bangers!
"soft serve just sugar on the asphalt i hurt i finally had the best cone salad you really know it's not for me" I think it's obviously clear that this song (based on the lyrics) tells the origin story of what led to jimmy eating the world, after he dropped his his ice cream scoops in the road on a hot day. and the salad line speaks for itself. only lyrics I've ever gotten tattooed on me. love this song so much!

These guys rock, from musicianship to stage presence, they really got it all. No idea about them personally, and that probably makes them even better haha! Kick ass video, hope to hear more from them over the years. Awesome.
I can’t believe this was like 20 years ago! seeing them live was awesome ! I saw them at Krazy Fest before this album and two more times when they opened for Weezer years later!
One big difference from this and newer live videos is in this you don't see a hundred glowing screens hovering above the crowd. I never got into filming shows I went/go to. Its hard to enjoy a show when you are watching it through a screen not to mention afterward the video is just a distorted shaky mess.
I prefer bands actually performing live(this video is a perfect example) & stopping a few times during songs to breathe or jam away than an artist using backing tracks the whole time or auto tune
Last night Tim Adkins came to billings mt and I met hin and the other 50 people there didn't. # cousin works there 👍 Jim your amazing and so is your band. I love jimmy eat world!
He's amazing live considering what he can do with his voice with a pretty average tone, as in his voice doesn't have the typical deep sounding rich tone from a lot of belters.
I'm not alone 'cause the TV's on, yeah I'm not crazy 'cause I take the right pills every day And rest, clean your conscience Clear your thoughts with Speyside with your grain Clean your conscience, clear your thoughts with Speyside Salt, sweat, sugar on the asphalt Our hearts littering the topsoil Tune in and we can get the last call Our lives, our coal Salt, sweat, sugar on the asphalt Our hearts littering the topsoil Sign up, the picket line or the parade Our lives I'm not alone 'cause the TV's on, yeah I'm not crazy 'cause I take the right pills every day And rest, clean your conscience Clear your thoughts with Speyside with your grain Clean your conscience, clear your thoughts with Speyside Salt, sweat, sugar on the asphalt Our hearts littering the topsoil Tune in and we can get the last call Our lives, our coal Salt, sweat, sugar on the asphalt Our-our hearts, yeah, littering the topsoil Sign up, the picket line or the parade Our lives Greed from my arm Won't they give it a rest now? sick!!!!!!! sounds amazing and phat live!! i wasnt huge on these guys, but i never hated what i heard on the radio etc.......hmm maybe ill DL their work!
First time I heard this song was around the time it released and they played it on this show 5 4 3 2 1, it was this all action sports show i would watch when I got home from school and then I'd go out skating. Good times.
I just went to see them yesterday, they started with this song.. No better way to start a show! They really are amazing!!! I hope that they wil be coming back to holland soon :)
Been a while snice i listen to them i forgot about them they are still good in the era of the band and music too i Remember listening to them on my ipod
@rockinDanman1123 because when they released the song in 2001, they changed the name from bleed american to salt sweat sugar to not offend anyone because of 9/11 but now it has his original name back :)
This is probably my favorite song of the 2000s. I think it sums up the decade perfectly. I remember the first song I ever downloaded on MP3 format and uploaded to my first Ipod was "Bleed American". I played that song about 28xs in one night while jumping on my bed. I listened to that song 200xs that year alone.

Just saw them play this live in 2024, their performances still haven't changed and they're still full of energy. Love it.
I saw them earlier this month on the fifth. They blew me away because I only of them by their song from the sorcerers apprentice. I might have enjoyed them more than fallout boy
This is one of those perfect rock songs that you'll just never forget

THE ENERGY. Something about bands from this era just brought a totally unattainable element on stage with them. For me, it's especially evident around 2:15 when the solo starts. Gives me chills every time.
+Dalton Guest And the cool part is they look just like normal guys!
Dalton Guest they left it all on the stage bro
Joy. Joy is the element. I think.
One thing that helps is playing with passion and aggression without too much distortion - so you can feel the humanity.
when i tried to learn the song on songsterr it didn’t say that there was a solo and i was like 😃❓
This is a highly underrated band...one of the best in their class/genre/era
Underrated? Everyone I know knows this band, and everyone I know knows about 'The Middle'. In their prime they were played on the radio a lot. They are not underrated.

Sweetness gets played on radio still quite a bit
Skoal91 "Quite a bit" is a big overstatement.
quite a bit for a song that was out in 2001
It's now 2022... and your music is still remembered.
This brings me back to 20 years ago...freshman in college listening to Jimmy Eat World on repeat. 💜
Are you me lol?
I had the same experience.
That means you are due for a colonoscopy
@@noahball3358 Bahaha!!!
It is incredible how Jim can sing the chorus and play the guitar at the same time.
They have real punk cred. I love how even though they went mainstream they still bust out that badass Drive Like Jehu style riffing.
DLJ's drummer produced Bleed American.
they sound the same live. damn
+Mysteries At Lochness learn to spell before you criticize someone dumbass
+halfsackdoes xboxone Most real bands do.
+Dallas House comedy Yeah it's amazing. The autotune is lacking here, and that's fantastic.
To the dude who said "most real bands do" no, not even close. It's extremely rare that a band sounds the same or just as good live as studio recording
Trip Skylark Tips n tricks, there's a reply button.
These lyrics have so much more power and meaning now that I'm double the age of 12 (around when I first heard it)
omg i thought nothing until I saw this comment was 7 years ago
Good band live. They sound excellent
More talent in this performance than most have in an entire career. Why does Jimmy Eat World get ignored so much?
Because kids these days love Justin bieber, Nikki minaj, and other garbages.
i know like deni said the newer kids just like terrible music this is what i call talent a very good underrated band rock use to be the most popular thing ever now its just fading T.T
Idk maybe their hit "in the middle " had to do with it. I always associated it with the spread of gay. And I didn't like it. But I do like the rest of their songs
@@ramoncontreras1726 of course it's widely accepted that 'gay' is spread by innappropriate audio-contact. You absolute roaster.
They are in the middle
Man this takes me back to times with skateboards, long summer nights and friends who aren’t with us anymore. Summer of 01’ was the best.
this song gets stuck in my head for DAYS every time i hear it!! I LOVE the lyrics!
Must admit, this song does more than just merely rock.
+HANGINGWANG As do all really great rock songs :)
Wut r u talkin bout. All this song does it rock and keep the pace fast and awesome!

Sounds rad live! The whole song is hella catchy and raw lyrics...
Jimmy eat world is about the most underrated and over-talented band on the planet. Wayyyyyyy ahead of their time
Just listened to the Bleed American album for the first time in forever. Really is no skip on it.
I remember listening to this when I was younger, probably around 11/12 and finding an unbelievable amount of comfort. Gotta love Jimmy Eat World
Painfully underrated band.
that guitar solo kicks ass

How this video doesn't have more views is shocking.... This song / album is the sound track of my youth
seriously! (I mean I was only like 10 when bleed America came out, but even I know this album is rock and roll history!)

He's amazing live considering what he can do with his voice with a pretty average tone, as in his voice doesn't have the typical deep sounding rich tone from a lot of belters.
All people back then had to actually sing due to no auto tune so every 90s or 80s artist sounds good live I think

none of those bands you named are emo. That is the problem. Emo is brand new, or sunny day real estate or american football.
I agree with you man none of those bands are Emo. I'd add the get up kids, taking back Sunday and std to that list 😊

The proper reason JEW sometimes gets labelled as emo is that they started out as an
