I'm about to blow your guys minds. Notice how at the beginning, the back of his jacked has a 1 on it? I never noticed before, but it actually changes with how many times he repeats the scenario. at 1:08 it has a 2, and at 2:39 it has a 3 on it. I've watched this video for like 10 years now and just now noticed this.
I remember that morning in 2004, when I woke up, turned on the tv and discovered this band and this song, that’s really changed me forever and now I’m 32 and still loving this song ❤
Hearing stories like this from people who had the “American teenage years” especially in the early 2000s is cool to hear. Hope you’re doin well well bro
I completely forgot about this band until tonight. I haven’t thought about it in like 10 years. It’s crazy how much of a different feeling I get when I listen to songs like this, and it’s not even a feeling I necessarily desire, it’s just a noticeably different feeling. A nostalgic feeling, a feeling of remembrance, of a different time. It’s crazy to think how much time has passed from when this song came out
hey man as an old fuck i just wana make you aware....that shit dont stop. almost everything you love will someday be twinged with feeling and meaning. but its good. i promise. usually anyway lol. enjoy it man
I recommend going down memory lane of all the forgotten things from your youth. It’s a bit sad, but definitely fun to relive your life through songs, movies, and pop culture from then
How this isn’t used in movies and commercials boggles my brain. This is truly one of the best songs of our generation and the words just make me feel pains of nostalgia and hope to “find you now things would get better, we can leave this town and run forever. I know somewhere, somehow we’ll be together! Let your waves crash down on me and take me away, yeah!”
For all the people saying they wish they were teenagers when this music was big, or that they'd known about it when it was: There's nothing to stop you picking up a guitar, screeching at the top of your lungs till you can sing, and writing lyrics to pave an even longer path for some of the greatest music out there!
Lord Moflombi This music is what i lived for...still do...we need this music...this shit they call music these days is a sad excuse...where are all you fuckers that wanna make music...the true artists...that want to write about your heartbreak and your true love...well said my friend...well said
TyronBash, punk rock was the mainstream music style in the early 2000's that rivaled pop artists like Brittany, N'Sync, BSB, etc. and gave a lot of people a great alternative music genre. Punk rock (even popular punk rock) was much better than pop and I'm very thankful for songs like this.

At The Disco or All-American Rejects xD I'm 23 and haven't heard most of these songs in over 5 years, but I still remember every single word.

It’s amazing to see that everyone in the comments is born in the late 80s and early 90s, reminiscing over their teenage years when they listened to these songs at the time they came out. I’m 2006 born, and having dug all the way down the pop punk rabbithole for a huge amount of time now, I have this sort of pride to be able to say in the future, that just like you guys 20 years ago, I’ll also have passionately listened to this music in my teenage years, nowadays, kind of carrying a heritage from the last generation. Even though I myself have trouble see it, there’s a whole bunch of guys like me out there. 2000s pop punk is still alive, people. It’s even reminiscing, nowadays. I also weirdly have some kind of melancolic attraction to this period, feeling you were so lucky to live during that time. Even though I don’t fully know what it was like back then, I wish so bad I could’ve been a teen at the turn of the century, skating to blink, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, and all the pop punk crowd. The simple suburban atmosphere feels warm and reassuring, when the American Dream was still alive. All that to say, I think I feel you guys.
I would like to say that I was born in 1998, and from China, I met YC when I was in primary school, they are not very popular in China. I can only say that I am very lucky, extremely, absolutely.
Being born 98 I still can feel it but I wish was born late 80s high school in the 90s would been so fucking dope or even just high school in the mid 00s
I can't agree more with you! This song is absolutely amazing and definitely one of my favorites. The melody is so catchy and the lyrics are so meaningful. Every time I listen to it, I feel so uplifted and inspired. It's no wonder that this song is loved by so many people around the world. I'm so glad that you appreciate the greatness of this song too. Let's keep enjoying it together!

Long story. I have a brother 6 years older than me and when I was 7 this song came on the radio while we were driving. I had only heard it once before on MTV so I didn’t know the verse but I remembered the chorus easily. I was mumbling through the verse my brother was like “Don’t sing the song if you don’t know the lyrics” all smug like and that exact moment the chorus hit. I got right in his face with the biggest smile I’d ever had and yelled “IF I COULD FIND YOU NOW THINGS WOULD GET BETTER!!!” and proceeded to sing the whole chorus. The satisfaction I felt that day I still remember randomly sometimes. One of my first ups on big bro. Also lucky my mom was there so I had witnesses 😎
I remember when this song was popular, every Sunday as a kid at 12 after church I’d rush to the tv and turn on on MTV in hopes of catching “Hey ya” by Outkast and this wonderful song. One of the songs that opened my eyes to music as a young kid that never really payed attention to music or the feeling it can give you. I’m so happy this song exists so I can always come back and feel the nostalgia of being this age again.
"When lookin up at the same night sky. I keep pretending the sun will not rise. Well be together for one more night somewhere, somehow" Still hits me to this day in all the feels. Damn I miss my high school sweetheart days. 🥲

@Senyora Santibañez yeah but realistically you had to be born in the 80s or early 90s generation of kids to appreciate the teenage music at the time (2000s)

When this song was broadcast on MTV, it was in HD 1080p. A Professional camera has a resolution of 1080p (HD). Only on UA-cam it was 480p in 2009. But the cameras from 2003 when this video was recorded were not made for UA-cam, because UA-cam did not yet exist. But in this time you just have a resolution of 1080p (HD).

Cherry St is in Neptune Beach. In the 70s I was growing up on Ocean Blvd near the 15th St ramp to the beach. This song takes me back in so many ways. I'm feeling 14 instead of 64.
Did u go to Fletcher?
I was looking for the lyrics. Didn't find 'em. So here you go emos:
There's a place off Ocean Avenue
Where I used to sit and talk with you
We were both 16 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night
There's a place on the corner of Cherry Street
We would walk on the beach in our bare feet
We were both 18 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
There's a piece of you that's here with me
It's everywhere I go, it's everything I see
When I sleep, I dream and it gets me by
I can make believe that you're here tonight
That you're here tonight
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
I remember the look in your eyes
When I told you that this was goodbye
You were begging me not tonight
Not here, not now
We're looking up at the same night sky
And keep pretending the sun will not rise
Be together for one more night
Somewhere, somehow
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

life was simpler then when we weren't constantly connected
I know that feeling, we all are in the same shit😅. Just enjoy listening like you used to, that feels much better
You are so right. It's like that movie that just came out on Netflix from Tom Cruise " Live Die Repeat." I never would have made that connection.

The drummer is top tier! Those entries are still unbelievable today as they were 20 years ago!

For all the people saying they wish they were teenagers when this music was big, or that they'd known about it when it was:
There's nothing to stop you picking up a guitar, screeching at the top of your lungs till you can sing, and writing lyrics to pave an even longer path for some of the greatest music out there!

Words cant describe how good this song is
My sophomore year of high school this was the #1 song in the country. I had the lyrics of this song posted on my AOL Instant Messager profile.
That's adorable. I did the same, except for posting lyrics on my Live Journal, lol.

Indeed. I'm the same age as you and I identify with everything you say :]
This is the comment I was looking for.
Being born 98 I still can feel it but I wish was born late 80s high school in the 90s would been so fucking dope or even just high school in the mid 00s
