This shirt is the prettiest diy tie dye I've seen omg this color is exactly what I'm looking for. Definitely want to try this and I wish it will turn out exactly like yours UPDATE: I tried this today and it looks pretty much like yours! I'm so happy, I really recommend this ⚡
@@QuynhHo Blueberry is not a stable dye, and there is no way to make it last. Its better for projects that dont need washing. Avocado is a beautiful soft pink dye.
@Cosmos Poppies You have to soak your fabric in alum before dying. Maybe check out "last minute laura" here on youtube, she has a bunch of very helpul tutorials! :)
@@QuynhHo it really is! However, for getting really rich colour, you should use much more onion skin than you used, and in order for eggs to get that colour, they are boiled alongside with skin. I know you were happy with the results (t shirt really turned out amazing), but this might come helpful in the future
@@melissatorres316 depends on the color you want. If you want opaque color, you should boil the shirt with the skins, but if you want it lighter, like her shirt, follow as she did it
Way cool. I want to do this with two colors - a light brown first, ( although that orangish color from onions is close enough), then a darker brown die tied as yours was to make splotches to look like desert camo colored T-Shirts.
Loved your video! You are beautiful and brave to try it for the first time on video. I thought it wouldn't come out tie-dyed also because you did not boil the material with the water and vinegar first before dyeing, and because you left it in the bowl so long. But it worked!!! I usually have so many onions. I'm gonna try this too. Thank you!!!
Thanks so much!! Yes! Please do try and let me know how it goes!! It’s such a fun and affordable way to die! I was very nervous the pattern would not come out as well haha! And you are very welcome! Can’t wait for you to have your own :)
Hi i I'm from India and from it i want dye stockings in quite brown colour according to my skin tone and think that it will work do u think that i should try and can u tell me it's colour get faded or not . Please reply me soon 😊
Hi! The color is not dark brown it’s a tan orange color like the video. I have washed it more then 20x and the color faded but it’s still there! Very good natural diy option! You should try it!
Hey i tried it today😍 and wooooww it turns out perfect! One Tip maybe: i rotate the shirt with a knife,so the batik print was tighter. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 wow i‘m so happy about the result! Thank you❤️❤️
It’s not going to be as strong of a color but mine still looks really good! Make sure to use a lot of onion skins if you want the stronger color and for it to last longer :)
Thank you! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m trying to the dye my Ariana grande sweetener shirt and sweater so it’ll be peach and this is so perfect!
I am trying it right now, I hope the colour doesn't fade that fast with washing it often; because that's what I'll do if it works out (cause I'll be wearing it often)
Omg! Looks amazing!!! My "food colouring" tie die was a fail! I'm gonna try this now. Can you please upload a tie die for white Jean's??? Thank you!!! Awesome video!!!!
Thank you!!! Good luck on your tie dye! Share with me on ig if you want! Would love to see ur result! 🧡 I don’t have any white jeans :( but if I get anything I’ll tie dye it! :) maybe even like a white shorts for summer haha
Hey so I’m planning to try this and I have a couple questions! 1. Do you pour the onion skin dye all over the t shirt or only on a few sectors? 2. Does pouring the dye all over the shirt make it not have the tie die effect? 3. Where do you need to let the dye sink in for 8 hours? Halfway in the dye? In a bag?
Hi! 1. Pour all over the T-Shirt. 2. No the twirling the tshirt and tying of the rubber bands will make the tie dye effect 3. Let the whole Tshirt sink in the dye for at least 2-4 hours. If the dye isn’t cover the whole Tshirt. Make sure to flip it over. After the shirt is all soaked, take the tshirt out the dye water and put into a bag :)
Really really late update but I did it, and it worked! I LOVE the shirt, and paid less than two bucks for the whole project! I haven't worn it much, but so far the colour is staying strong. Thanks for this!
Quynh Ho so the result is amazing! i’m so in love with the shirt. you can see it on my instagram story (@unicorndeni) now and i’ll definitely tag you in a future post 😍
So u left it like fully in the mixture or just the bottom of scrunched t-shirt was in it? It turned out really good so I want to do it exactly like u :)
I left it fully in the mixture. The onion water did not fill up all the way so I flipped it over every so hours to make sure both sides are even. I did take it out the mixture like 3 ish hours in I believe and just leave it alone to dye for 3 ish more hours.

me too haha!
How did it turn out?
Did it work !!!

Best part of the video how happy she looked spinning the shirt
Haha thanks 😄
Vinegar is the mordant for animal fibers (wool and silk). For plant fibers like cotton, you should use salt.
I used salt on my recent tie dye using blueberries but after washing it in the machine the color did faded 😔
@@QuynhHo Blueberry is not a stable dye, and there is no way to make it last. Its better for projects that dont need washing. Avocado is a beautiful soft pink dye.
Alum or iron are the best mordants. Alum is easy to find and store.

Do coffee tie dye next!!
Okay thanks for the recommendation!

Would this work for a good skin type of color (im doing some tie dye art and im lookin for a tanish skin color, would this work??)
This is more of a burnt orange ish color it can pass for tan but on the lighter side :)
@@QuynhHo Thank you!!
what happens if you use a combination of purple and brown onions?
I have never tried that before but I think it will still turn out orange. If you do try please let me know how it goes!!
Hi sis hope you will reply but please tell me can we use black clothes for the dye
Sadly.. not for this Onion Skin tie dye, no because it will not show.
Hey ...just wanna know something if we are using bleach powder how to make a correct extract from it..??? Like the ratio side ???
Hi! For this onion skin shirt you do not need bleach just onion skin! :)
@@QuynhHo aww soo sweet that you replied... i gotva bunch of question's can you help me out...?
Really interesting. The shirt came out good.
After you washed and dried it did it have the vinegar smell?
Z'Nycé London nope no vinegar smell :) if you’re worried you might be able to skip the vinegar
Good idea
Thank you!
do you have to let the liquid cool before dying?
Nope I just poured it on hot :)
This IS white vinegar ? I love this color thanks you !
Yes white vinegar! 👍😊
Love from London ❤️😌
Sending you love from Chicago💞💞💞
Some more tie dye with natural products please
I just uploaded a new video using another natural product! Check it out💜😊
Love it💜💜
Ty!💕
Can this method be used to dye synthetic fabrics like polyester and satin?
I don’t think so, but I have never tried. I would recommend cotton as the best material :)
Did the vinegar end up working?? Even though it stunk or is it not worth it?
It works :) but if you use a lot of onion skin. I don’t think you would need the vinegar
Looks great! How did you wash it? And did the dye fade when you did?
I hand washed it first and then after that I’ve been washing in in the washing machine. The color still stayed! Love it!
But if you put that whole t-shirt in the "onion water" then it is completely in that color, right?
If you tie the rubber bands tightly, it will create resistant and not dye the T-shirt completely :)
Do u reckon that Spanish red onion gonna work as well?
I’m not sure but I think all onion skins should work :)
Looks great!
Adem Chaushev Thanks! I really like the color
Did the colour end up washing out after you washed the t-shirt a few times ?
