That is an incredibly beautiful shirt! You are such a phenomenal artist and I will never stop watching or not be so interested in all of your fantastic work. Thank you again for sharing. Have a wonderful day!
As always another beautiful piece! And thank you so much for sharing your insight I for the life of me couldn’t figure out how to get my mandalas to look like the one you did here thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I’ve had to practice this design for 3 weeks before I was able to share it with you. It’s pretty difficult but once you get it, it’s like riding a bike ☺️💙
Can I jus say thank you, as an inspiring tie dye artist here on big island, it be hard to find people willing to teach more complicating designs an what materials to use. Mahalo!🤙🏼
I’m a seamstress and I’m seriously thinking about starting a tie dye business instead of sewing thanks to this channel! The designs are gorgeous, thank you for making these videos! Love from Norway ❤️🇳🇴
That’s awesome! Thank you! I’ve seen people tie dye shirts and then cut them up and see different prices together to create a whole new shirt or dress ☺️ That would be awesome for you❤️
Yes, what Riah said! It would add an entirely new addition to your creative process. Tie Dyeing plain fabric to look like it has big cabbage roses, or some imaginary flowers, across it. This makes me wish that I could sew. My brain keeps having ideas that my hands can't handle, lol.
Nah dude. I watch this video once a year when I make my 4th of july shirts for my family and it may not look perfect, but you'll enjoy the outcome regardless. $20 kit from Walmart/hobby lobby and a cheap white shirt is all you have to lose
I’ve made ~50 tie dyes.. most with intent. I am no where close to this level of mastery.. could not replicate it, could not think of it organically. First mandala with twine is batching rn. Usually when I try these with rubber bands they turn out more of a bullseye, as it’s almost impossible to get the diagonal lines.
WoW WoW and WoW The only thing that would make this better would be able to hear you when you see it for the first time I miss that but wonderful color and pattern it has been fun watching you get to this point in your tie-dying thank you so much for sharing😁✌️
Haha yeah I miss doing that too! I wish I could get the first reaction on a voice over but it’s a little hard to get my real reaction when I’ve seen it lol. ☺️❤️🌈
@@RiahsTieDye Maybe when you do the reveal you could just keep your recorded reaction if you’re anything like me whenever I see something for the first time it’s either oh ah or dammit you could just leave out the dammit ones I don’t think you have any🤣😁✌️
Wow .... I keep watching your vids and saying wow that's the coolest thing I've seen ... no that is lol .... I really think this one wins so far tho .... that's simply amazing....didn't know that was possible 👍
I just found you on UA-cam after seeing your Instagram reels. Wow is all I can say! In real time besides the waiting times how long does it take you to get the tying and dye applied to a mandala piece? Is that the hardest design ? Phenomenal-all of your creations!!❤
Thank you and welcome! Yes these take the longest and I’ve spent as much as 10 hours on one of these pieces before. All condensed down into a 60 second reel😂💚
How do you get your saturation so good on your mandalas? I tried on a baby onesie and came close. Had the tying right. (For the most part. I think!) But maybe i tie my sinew to tight. 😕 But I'm close!
@@RiahsTieDye i did do it dry. I thought maybe to dry. But i think it was probably to tight. Everyone says it looks great. But I know different! Lol! Thanks Riah.
I wish you would get a close up when you tye off the design, I can't really see what you are doing, but the shirt is Fantastic ❤️ I want to order that in a 2x or 3x ?
I’ll definitely keep that in mind. If you want to order anything there’s a contact page on my website at www.riahstiedye.com where you can email me ☺️💙
When you open the shirt at the end, you don' t wear gloves? Do you rinse your shirt while its still tied up? Your shirts are amazing! You're inspirational! ❤
Riah, somehow I missed this video. Did you use thick water here? What difference is there between thick water and not thick water, when it comes to tie dye? This is beautiful by the way!
I did use thick water…thick water helps the colors stay put…sometimes it’s doesn’t depending on how wet the shirt is or if you have a spillover of another color but it’s definitely worth trying ☺️💚💙
It could be a variety of things but my first question would be to ask if you are dyeing these kinds of mandalas dry. They soak up the dye so much better and you really want them sopping wet before letting them sit for 24 hours. Hope this helps😊
Thank you! What kind of dye are you using? There’s quite a few factors it could be…if you are using fiber reactive dyes the fabric content should be mostly cotton if not all cotton. 100% cotton makes the brightest…if you are trying to dye polyester, all of that dye will wash out and you’ll be left with “stained” tie dye.
@@RiahsTieDye I use procion powder dye from dharma. I learned I wasn't using enough soda ash in my mix. I'll use more dye and soda next time, I'll eventually get my mix ratio right lol
Wow! Love how it looks like it's glowing.
Thank you so much! Me too! ☺️💛
Wow, the mandala and honeycomb almost look like they're glowing!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you like it! ☺️💙
Wow when it was washed and dried the colors really popped, I love how vibrant the mandala is

Your fold patience is astounding.
Thank you! I have been working on this design and practicing for 3 weeks and then boom, I got this gem ☺️💙💚💛
Wooow 3weeks R&D! Well I tell you it's truly appreciated. Is it hard to find inspiration? Or is it free flowing?
No it was more like trying to get the saturation I needed. I’m pretty good with inspiration.
One of my absolute favorite designs of yours! It looks so incredible and i LOVE the color choices.
Thank you! I love this one a lot too! But I did practice for what seems to be forever to make this lol.

What is the absolute smallest angle a shirt can be folded, so as to create the most intricate mandela pattern?
I’ve been able to do every 10 degrees but the center is hard to put together so I haven’t been able to go smaller than that.
