    i was able to propagate and grow a couple of new jade trees. my issue is how do you get the trunk so thick? mine are thin and spindlely. i pruned them from a jade tree that is a vine, not a tree. does that have anything to do with the thin trunks i keep getting?

    My jade plant is shedding leaves and one stem looks rotten. I just watered once after 3 weeks . Should i replant it in new soil?

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  7 місяців тому

      Yes take it out of the pot check the roots for sign of rotting. You can cut all the rotting stems until you see clear green and whitish stem. Use a be clean pot and fresh soil.

    Hi there!! I’ve had a small Jade plant that started from a leaf from my sister and it’s over a year old and not very big. It does grow new leaves but so slow! I just up potted it per your how to make them grow faster video and noticed it’s root system is sooo sparse. Is that normal?

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  2 роки тому +1

      Hi I have mentioned in my propagation video that plants grown from leaves take long time to get to a good size plant. It’s better to start with a stem cutting.
      Jade plants don’t have very thick/ big root system. They have very thin roots but they should spread evenly in the pot overtime. Please be very careful with the watering since you moved it in a bigger pot. Make sure it’s dry before you water it. I hope it’s in full sun otherwise soil will take long time to dry.

    Do you just cut like a circle for the new leaf

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  Рік тому +1

      I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you asking about separating them from the leaf. You can gently pull it away from the leaf it’s barely attached and have good roots or you can just cut the leaf away from the plant without damaging the roots. Please check out my propagation video. I showed how do do it with scissors.

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  Рік тому

      Yes all of my pants. I mostly bottom water them. Its also easy to move the big one. It’s not necessarily. I have grown them directly into the ceramic pot but you have to make sure not to overwater them.

      @@bluedragon2824 you’re welcome! I always try to get them from local second hand stores as I believe in up cycling because lots of people donate them. When I can’t find any that I need I buy from big box stores when they have end of season sales. Facebook market place is also a good place to find pots at reasonable prices.

      So that it get sunlight coz I keep it covered. It becomes a little greenhouse and don’t have to mist it with water for a long time. Hey can be planted in a shallow pot as well so they can get sunlight.

    Tej why does the Jade plants leaves always drop off 😞

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  3 місяці тому

      It’s okay for some of the bottom and very old leaves to drop as the plan grows and get bigger. But if it’s frequently dropping leaves that means it being overwatered. If leaves are dry and crunchy that means plant not getting enough water. Over watered leaves will be start yellowing and little but they will be full of water just so you can tell the difference .

    Hi Taj...I bought a jade plants n after three week i tranfer it to other pot but i notice that my jade plant is drying and the leaves faĺl, than i check on the root, i found out that the root turn black and there no new roots growing, what should i do to save my jade plants tq.

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  2 роки тому

      If there is no root system, you have to prune it and propagate it. Please check out my propagation. Make sure you water your jade plants thoroughly and l then let it dry. If it’s too hot move it away from the window or if it’s outside. Please give me more information like it’s location, type of soil, fertilizer, pot size and kind. Also how often you water it. So I can assist you better.

    • @lindaambou8058
      @lindaambou8058 2 роки тому

      Hi..Tej..thanks for you reply, I live in Malaysia with only 1 season which is hot. for my jade plants, i use succulent mix, for the fertilizer i use osmocote slow release and my pot size is 20cm with easy drainage water at the bottom of it. my jade plants height is 20cm, once i repot it, i will wait one week than i start watering it went it dry.
      Do you think i done it correctly?

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  2 роки тому +1

      When I repot, I water it right away unless I watered it just before repotting. If leaves are soft and they don’t fall off until they dry, then plant is under watered. If leaves turned yellow and fell off then it’s a sign if roof rot or pest. If it still has roots yuh can pot it again to see if you can save the whole plant. I use regular potting mix with perlite for all my jade plants and water then when they are completely dry. Please check out all of jade videos on my channel. If you still have questions feel free to comment.

      Tq..Tej for the info, yah..one of my jade the leaves is thin and soft but doesn't fall mean under watered, the others one the leaves all fall but still green mean over watered right?
      Tej..if you report your jade plant did u add rocks with the soil or just the succulent soil and perlite?

    • @PlantingwithTej
      @PlantingwithTej  2 роки тому +1

      @@lindaambou8058 overwater leaves will turn little yellow as well before falling off. I don’t use succulent mix for my jade and I dint add rocks. Just 20 % perlite in the soil. I put rocks on top of the soil sometimes fir big Jade to make it stable.
