Nooooo! That sucks! But I'm sure you'll rebuild it even better than before. I hope you and Tarok are OK.
Athos, I hope you and your dog were not hurt. You have a lot of resilience and knowledge to rebuild to make it safer next time. Be well, stay warm, stay safe!
Being a builder for 30 years, I've always had others try to tell me that I 'over-design' projects.
It sucks when things don't work out.
But, living to learn from the experience....
Provides the opportunity to learn from the experience & build it differently.
I like the ideas that went into this project.
Maybe the posts & tarps making up the roof should be longer...?
Or, they need to be supported from the underside.
Good luck, Athos.
Stay warm & dry.
(Because, if you don't, you'll have bigger problems.)
One moment, & one day at a time.
You're a smart guy.
You'll figure it out.
Oh no! Where you in it when that happened? ...I loved that fireplace...sleeping outside is one of the best things ever!!
Oooh mother nature has her way, always. 😊 you have an amazing resilient spirit, Athos. Good things happen to people like you. *hugs* 💥💯
👌❤ You do live a hard life but you do such an amazing job 🙂😘
I'm glad you weren't hurt! It's so wet there, building underground is going to be very challenging. I liked the fireplace! It doesn't seem like you have many stones to build with, so you need to use a lot of clay or mud and soft wood. I'd love to see you be able to build something dry and safe that's also warm in the cold months. It's very difficult, I applaud the effort!
I hope the best for you this winter, and appreciate you sharing the realities of survival.
Me and my wife love your videos! We appreciate when you show the process from bare forest floor to the efficient masterpieces you create, the way you manipulate mud and grass for building materials, and your amazing skill and precision with your axe and other tools.
I also can't believe your endurance and strength and work ethic. How do you sustain health of your muscles with such strenuous activity?
The fact that watching your videos could save our lives in the worst case scenario blows my mind. The fact that you do this only to educate and with no financial gain is even more admirable. Keep making your videos because we love and learn from them, or don't and enjoy your life. I support you either way.
Athos you should build a log 🪵🪓🪚 cabin above ground.
Your Nomadic, Self-Reliance and Hard work has impressed all of us !!! ❤ 🍀 🌞
Thankfully you and Tarok are OK. I can see the wheels are already turning in your head with the solution to fix this to be better. You are an amazing builder. Please stay safe and warm. Looking forward to the next video. ❤
Oh s..... ! Hoppe you had no injury...
Hello @athos
Thanks for the showing your shelter not in all its glory. That brings us back to reality that building a shelter is not only fun and pleasure in the end.
I advise you for your video editing, when you do environmental cut scenes, to mute their individual sound and add a long nature sound sample you’ve previously recorded instead. This will prevent the unpleasant sound effect between each scene cut.
Lol, Athos!! You are funny! What a rich and abundant life you live! Even a Master Builder keeps learning and improving his skills. Much love! ❤
Never give up! I am learning that trauma doesn't have to defeat you. Thanks for sharing the bad with the good!
le vent souffle chez nous aussi ! et il fait froid! bon courage!
Thật tuyệt vời người anh em ❤
This is a concern I had as well unfortunately.
Holes in the ground, as nice as they sound, are structurally unsound unless you basically build a house in the hole then bury over it. You need stable floor and walls, supports, reinforced walls, some way to seal them against excess moisture, and some way to drain out any water that does find its way in when it rains.
Hoping you werent inside when structural stability came down; you'll spring back, you have the ingenuity and passion, but this is definitely one of the harder lessons to go through.
The lichen is beautiful this winter here in Maine. I got so much wispy Old Mans Beard from fallen old trees! The world is crazy and lovely! 💪💚❄️
Look forward to your solution
I'm here for the dog.
What a shame! But that happens when you build underground, its where the water goes. Hope its stops raining soon
Challenges happen while you are busy making other plans...🙄
Stole that saying from someone who stole it from someone else 😂
Have no doubts that Athos will rebuild with a creative design 😉👍
On with the show eh...?😉
😎✌👍❤🖖
Hello from Russia👍💪
Hopefully those logs didn't land on you or Tarok when they fell. The side walls around the bed seem ready to collapse. Is there another shelter you can move to for the time being?
+Будьте осторожны
Stay above ground Athos, safety is only an illusion we give ourselves so we can leave the house each day.lf someone is really looking they will find you, be it heat se eking equipment, or dogs. Chill out and enjoy your nature, build somemore wizard castles😂❤,go find some gold 💰and please be careful!!!Glad you & Tarok didn't get hurt!!❤❤🎉💪🐺🍗🥩🤗👌👍✌️🧙♂️🛖
No need to call yourself a tramp!
I wondered how it would handle moisture.
😢
Mother Nature can be so difficult to deal with. Just when you think you are going to fare well and be prepared for her weather assaults, she can find a way to spoil things for you. She causes you to rethink how you had things setup for yourself. I hope that you're able to take what you have, and manage to reconstruct a habitable and safe dwelling place.... again.
I will rebuild it soon ! Thank you !
@@ATHOSOutdoorProspector Be careful and take your time. I know it's going to take a lot of hard work to redo. May God watch over you and help you with the strength to do it.✝️🙏
@@TripleXXXLady-im5it Thank you very much for your comment, I'll try to be careful and do things right next time.
@@ATHOSOutdoorProspector You're welcome Athos. I looked it up, and your name is of Greek origin, and it stands for courage and wisdom. It suits you perfectly!! My name is Katrina. It's of Dutch origin. I'm part Dutch and German, and born in the USA, in the mountains of Louisville, Kentucky. My name means Angel. I'm hoping and praying that you're having something to stay warm and dry in until you can rebuild it. I know that you're going to try your best to do everything right, and that's all any of us can try to do. Know that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers, and care as you're working to get things redone for you and your dog's wellbeing.✝️😌🙏❤️
Yeah dunno man, looks like you just built yourself a big bucket that will always be wet. Hillside would be better
Thank you very much for your comment 🙏
Ugggggggg 😢

You just need to learn a little from the Russian military to build underground shelters. even during the war in 1941-1945 against the Nazis, our military was able to create underground fortified shelters - the walls from the inside should be sheathed with either boards or plywood, or made of a log cabin.
