Hi dear Sim pilot, how nice you took this Airbus bird for a ride! Was involved with this aircraft from the very beginning before it operated at my airline. This aircraft was a revolution in cockpit management and automation in the cockpit. This was the first step towards what is the A320 series and so on. In those days, early 80's there was a big discussion if this kind of aircraft could be flown by a two man crew. Specially supported by the Boeing lobby! :) This aircraft is a perfect example if the intermediate step between the conventional old school aircraft and where we are now with the airbus aircraft we are we right now. This aircraft deserves a well deserved place in history, it was the step to modern aircraft management of today!
Thanks for your kinds words George and also for your insight into this aircraft! I totally agree, it is a big piece of the history of modern airliners in many ways.
By 1980's standards that is an EXTREMELY clean and intuitive flight deck to be honest , yes there are more buttons than the A320 but really the layout is similar and it has that Airbus design philosophy where all of the layout makes sense !
I have the Inibuilds A310 for X-Plane 11 and it is one of the best planes I have flown. Hope the MSFS version is also good, looking forward to it! Compared to the A320, switches are on different locations and autopilot modes are a little different, also the FMC. But anyone who has the Fenix 320 will be able to make a rapid transition.
Surprisingly modern flight deck. Compared to other aircraft flying around in that period it is quite clean. Nice to see the "extinguish the white" UX design existed back then. In engineering, only a few things are so refined and have a clear design path as the Airbus 3xx series.
It's great to have new planes to look forward to while we wait patiently for the unparalleled, long-awaited FBW A380 (which will break the internet)! Lol
Many thanks for this video to prepare us for the long awaited A310. I play on Xbox at the moment and we've had a shortage of liners to the platform. I really am looking forward to this. Fingers crossed.
Thanks so much for this great video! I've flown the A300 heaps of times in XP11, but moved to MSFS a year or so ago, so I haven't been in the older Airbus for some time, this is a great revision lesson!
Thank you so much for this video. I was watching the A300 stream that you did to in preparation for the A310, but this is much shorter and refined, taking less time out of my day.
What a geat idea to give us an overview before it becomes available in a couple of days time! I'm really looking forward to the A310, as mentioned below, it's a really great mix of old and new technology, many hours of fun ahead with this baby! I only ever flew on two A310's, Frankfurt via Hannover to Toronto and back with Hapag-Lloyd, but saw so many over the years at Frankfurt in particular, so looking forward to the talented livery makers coming out with some great oldies!
Thanks for the checkout! I'm looking forward to finally having something suitable for North Atlantic crossings. I'm a 737 driver by trade, so this all seems pretty intuitive to me... fun to see the evolutionary link between legacy and modern airliners!
Thanks for the video. You can definitely see the ancestry of this aircraft in the A320 - plus a couple of things that are more like the 737...speaks to the age of the design of that aircraft! I'm certainly looking forward to getting to know the A310 in a few days, I've never flown it in any sim. Hard to believe it's coming for free!
The A320 is not the descendant of the A310. A310 is the ancestor of the A330/A340 and... A320 first Airbus single-aisle aircraft. In fact I am quite surprised by the similarities with modern Airbus. Airbus is/was really very advanced/innovative for its time.
@@charlieromeo3991 In terms of aircraft size sure, but in terms of systems/Airbus philosophy the ancestry is there for the entire modern airbus family.
Really looking forward to this edition, the level of detail is quite amazing. If the expectations realize i hope to see you drive it regularly, seems to be a nice switch up. Great to see the logic devopment taken place between the generations, impressive. ¡Espero que estas bien! 💙
I love this aircraft. The cockpit is like the equivalent of one of those analog/digital watch faces. It's such a cool era of airliners. I really hope the MSFS equivalent will live up to the XPlane version!
Can't wait to learn this beast, I started with the a32nx, then learned the wt cj4 and pmdg 737. This is such a nice middle ground between those small jets and the forthcoming a380, 777, and 747.
Thank you sooo much for doing this video! I can't wait to take it for a flight on Thursday or whenever SU11 is supposed to drop xD I also can't wait to hear your take on it soon xD
This does indeed look good. I'll certainly fly this from Friday onwards, BUT, I wait for the A300 B4 200 which my company operated. I guess much the same systems and perhaps performance, albeit a little bigger and heavier. Hope you eventually analyse that one too when it arrives in 2023...thanks for the video..
Very nice intro video to A310. The more videos I watch on this plane the more furious I get as my system crashes halfway through loading a flight!!! All other aircrafts work well including the helicopters. The 310 consistently crashes msfs! I downloaded it again from market place with same results. Can you think of a solution? Highly appreciate your feedback mate
The best plane in flight simulation! It's a shame it didn't get the proper attention when it was only available for Xplane. A couple of months ago I was one of the only people flying it on VATSIM, now the hype is soo big!
I absolutely can't wait for the update! Maily waiting for the A310, Beaver, Lindberg's Ryan Monoplane, and ofcourse the Hughes flying boat with 8 fucking Engines!!! What date is the update releasing?
Thank you so much for the video, it’s fantastic! I do have a question. At 6:09, you turn on the batteries, and you said that the green lines indicate that they are “being charged up.” At this point, it doesn’t appear that the external power is on or the APU is on, so how are they being charged? My uneducated guess would be that the batteries would have a negative amperage, and that they would be powering equipment at the expense of their own charge, until they can receive a charge from the APU, external power, or an engine generator.

Remember ,this came out at the same time as the B757/767 twins. So if you compare it to them you see 80s cutting edge technology here :)
Boeing had a different cockpit layout with each aircraft, horrible. Airbus stayed very much close to its concept since the A300. Amazing, yes!

Heck, I'd even be happy when PMDG's 747 comes out. I just want a high quality jumbo jet in MSFS. 😩
Glass cockpits are fun and all but I've always been a stickler for analog dials.
This is a good mixture of the two.
A310 in old Air Jamaica livery... Beautiful!
This is very helpful - I hope to see you do a signature 320 sim pilot review of the new bird in MSFS
