You make wonderful choices Adrian! Love the Jazz!.....and the punk....and the country, and the reggae, and the classics!....thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
I love this idea. I picked up my J Mascis Squire Jazzmaster for its bell-like tones, hoping it would help me sound less like a cliche rock guitar player; I was thinking (in fact) "wouldn't it be lovely to make this guitar sound like a horn" (or to approach it as a horn instead of a shred machine or power chord generator). I would love to see more horn--oriented songs covered on guitar!!
Definitely love the jazz lessons, so please do keep these in your rotation! One of the many truly wonderful features of your channel and your Patreon is the variety of styles you share and teach, and your remarkable ear for things we might often miss, be it an artist we’ve overlooked, a song of a known artist that rarely gets examined, or a way of approaching the instrument that’s uniquely yours. Thank you so much for all you do!
I like the jazz, I don't connect with a lot of jazz emotionally but I really respect the musicianship. I really like the chord harmony songs, especially songs from other genres made more jazzy.
I've always wanted to learn that classic bebop jazzy line but never took the time to figure it out, and now I can after Billie's Bounce!!!! Thank you so much for the entire video!!!!! Now I can sound beboppy!!! Great practice for syncopated lines and counting rhythms that are unique. I appreciate you!
Thanks Adrian, I am up for more Jazz Guitar in this format. For me, based on what you said in this vid, it is a way to integrate more syncopation into our playing.
Hahaha... can´t believe this video came along a week after struggling with Billie's Bounce. I referenced the George Benson version which goes along a 100 MPH. Totally agree about jazz opening up new avenues that rock/Pop doesn't go down. Thnx for the vid Adrian.
I'm a big fan of jazz and I've been listening to Bird a lot more recently. I really like your channel - the Charlie Christian vids are superb! I wondered if you would consider a vid on the guitar solos in Charlie Parker tunes eg A Night In Tunisia or Yardbird Suite? I think the guitarist was Arv Garrison.✌️
Hi Adrian! Two things: First, congratulations on a quarter million subscribers! And second, you must be psychically linked to Eric Haugen once again--he's doing a jazz for rockers series over there. [Edit: oops, I see now that someone had already beat me to the Eric Haugen punch.]
I don’t think this Jazz lesson would help me. Sure it’s good to hear different melodies, but what is under the melody is important. I have been curious about chord substitution in Jazz. How do they determine what is in the substituted chord?
You mean bar 6 of Now's the Time? The note actually stays the same on the 1945 recording which is what I'm referencing - take a listen. I think on subsequent recordings and versions the note does sometimes go up a semitone giving you that #IV diminished sound, so by all means throw it in if you like.
You and Mr Haugen jazzing things up on the same day. It will be a jazzy weekend for me!
Eric Haugen has given a shout out to Adrian in other videos.
We need a collaboration video bringing Eric and Adrian together, please!!
@@abrigospardos Good opportunity if they do a Patreon broadcast, both will benefit! they deserve it
Seriously, two of the best guitar and music teachers out there, Eric and Adrian. Fantastic!
Eric and Adrian are transatlantic soul* brothers.
*And all the other genres.

Great job explaining this tune!
For the past few years I have got into listening to Electro Swing and I find playing along extremley challenging, I need to learn some jazz swing!

I like it when you post jazz stuff. Please keep it as a regular feature of you videos.
You are my favorite guitar channel, always a pleasure to listen to…
Thanks. A nice introduction to jazz guitar and Charlie Parker's music
Very underrated channel 👌 Brilliant work
I like your jazz stuff a lot! Thanks!

Wise man, this Adrian!🎸
Hope one day you do some Spacemen 3 would love a tutorial on Transparent Radiation
Is there anything you can't do? Amazing!
love this thank you!

More jazz!, I’m new to it and I’m addicted!!
Definitely not in my wheelhouse, and I would love to see more-your lessons are so patient and accessible.
One of the first songs I learned was scrapple from the apple. Love bird.
Steve Howe definitely applied this, Brilliant!!
While I am no jazz boffin, I love the fact that it's fun to play while challenging to learn.
Thanks! Great Lesson!
Thank you

Yes please! More Jazz. I’d love to see the chord progressions on guitar as well as harmony changes
Hi Adrian. Like your jazz stuff. More is welcome. Would like the Pdf. Best and thannks. Fran
I believe this song, Now's the Time, became, with words, a HUGE hit The Huckelbuck. (It's the Kay Starr version you heard on the Honeymooners)
I dislike most jazz, but there are some great parts & licks in this that can be incorporated into many styles. More please Adrian 🐜
Nice!!!
I absolutely would like jazz from time to time. Perhaps a simple jazz chord melody would make a good lesson.

Did this tune inspire "The Hucklebuck" by trumpeter Andy Gibson? To me, the main melody sounds almost identical in both songs.
Yes it did!
anyone got a recommendation for some a tad bit harder jazz-wise ? This was fun and looking for more stuff!
How about. Miles "So What,?" , with quartal chords?
More jazz and country lessons!
Now do Albert Ayler 🎺
And ,"St Thomas" by Sonny Rollins
It’s said that Duane Allman’s biggest influences were Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
pls do death trip
Like deployed 👍
😎🎙🎸✅️
Mixing jazz lines with added chords would be good.
Jazz: Music so bad you had to be on Heroin just to play it. I'll get my coat!
I don’t think this Jazz lesson would help me. Sure it’s good to hear different melodies, but what is under the melody is important.

Request: Eighties by Killing Joke
Giant steps ?
Jazz songs you need to know 😂
👍🏻
Gonna learn the second one. Be a good work out. Get me off my lazy butt.
Jazz plus jazz equals jazz.
Please check alip ba ta
Jazzmasters are for people that haven't tried a jaguar yet.
Haven’t tried a jaguar but I’ve tried ye mum😂😂😂😂😂hahahahaga
I’m sorry
Jaguars are very bright guitars. I would have loved a salmon pink Jaguar until I recently played one and it was far to bright for me.
That isn’t quite right. When it drops to the A, the repeated phrase goes to Bb not A.

The problem is that I despise saxophone.
then you haven't heard duke silver play
You're missing the point. I don't care who's playing it, and I don't care what they are playing. I hate the sound of the saxophone.
What about the sax-a-boom?
@@olafbigandglad How about A sack of phones?😄😀😃
I want to learn bebop lines but I’m still traumatised by THAT scene in ‘Pulp Fiction’. Sax is the sound of non-consent.
