How amazing it was that the rider managed to persuade the horse to get on with it, and the horse found the right pace to rejoin the field and then move to the front for the win!

That was an awesome horse race for spectators. It had everything. Riders lost at an early jump. Horse balks at the water and lost??? Then the patience to not panic and to slowly recover from the balk. The horse easily strides through the 2nd water. Then the push at the finish. You couldn't complain about watching that one.

This was a cross country chase and have some of the most difficult fences to jump. The biggest National Hunt meeting of the year in the UK at Cheltenham in march has a cross country chase that leaves the track and has two curcuits inside on these specialty fences. It is still a huge race and the horses have to be extremly versatile. You may not have noticed it in the days racing as it is often printed as Xcountry which would mean nothing to most people. First time I’ve seen this kind of race and it remarkable how that horse came all the way back from their to win. In fact to remarkable for my liking because that horse should have been blown trying to catch up from their, yet it had more in the tank at the end than the rest. I’ve seen some horses pull off amazing things like the famous Red Rum three times winner and twice runner up in the hardest race ever, so I would definitely test that horse to find out how that was achieved.
Also there was a German horse that was with Brendan Powell called toughness danon,he used to give the field 15 seconds start, and he ended up winning by about 20 L was crazy, but when it started with the field it ended up getting hammered, how does that work out,it was actually in the German derby so it did have a lot of ability
Where is "here"? There is one such race in GB, at Cheltenham in November; another in the Czech republic, and yet another similar one in US (Maryland, I believe, though I might be wrong about that?)
The horse that came in second didn’t have to be whipped at all. The poor horse who was able to miraculously make up the lost ground when he balked did win. But he was whipped all the way down the stretch. It actually looked like the jockey hit out at that second place horse and jockey. Did that ever come up? It literally look like he was hitting the other jockey. Poor horses,
near the end of the 1800's (end of the century) there was a racing mare born in Hungary who was really ugly...sway backed, spotty mane and tail. When she was 6 mos old and weaned, gypsys broke into the racing stables and stole one horse....the ugly foal. When they were caught, the race horse owner said ''i'll let you go if you answer one question....why did you steal HER?!?'' The Roma replied""because she is the greatest of them all"" The owner shook his head but put her into training to race....she was named ""Kincsem'" ( can't spell) which means ""Treasure"" He didn't bother to attend her first race....she won, going away. Afterwards she never lost....54 races, 54 wins. She came close to losing a couple of times....she would let the other horses get way ahead of her and then blast past them. Once she stopped part way through a race for a bit of grass. When she was in a match race with the then Prince (Queen Victoria's son) Edward's horse , she fell asleep. After a LOT of shoving and kicking, the starter finally sent off Prince Edward's horse...shortly after, Kincsem woke up. "Looking slightly flustered"" the article said, she started after him...and won that race as well. Ppl offered the owner the equivalent of millions of dollars for her, but her owner never sold her...""if i did'' he said ''the ppl of Hungary would come after me""
That’s a good example of it’s not over ‘til it’s over.

Hitting/whipping a horse, forcing a horse to do something it does not want or need to do is not good horsemanship.
