Nice thorough job. Fingers crossed the transaxle gives you some reasonable service as you move the project along! 👍

The copper spray is the best... especially for exhaust gaskets. Maybe a G50 someday?

I'm going to link this to the r/cars subreddit on reddit hopefully people will check it out. Good job again.

Love your progress. I use a plastic razor blade to clean off old gaskets - no risk of scratching :). I am not sure the 915 is hurt badly - but time will tell

Good idea with plastic razors! This gasket was very tough even with a stainless brush and Xylene. Time will tell. Hopefully not too LOUDLY!!!

Awesome Dylan! Let me know if I can point you to a helpful video. With the exception of interior, many bases are covered here.

Ok, good. I did the same on a 912 that I’m working. Thanks. I’m following you but for some reason I missed that episode. Congratulations on your project.

Similar to an L-1011 or Mark 9 racing transaxle.

As in it leaks, ha ha? These are pretty good units.

@@GarageTimeAutoResto frankly we didn’t have to put gaskets in them due to the tolerances. What I noticed was how the gears were stacked on the end pod and the fact that the shifter Oring can last forever.

Don't touch anything while you are inside there!

You have organic vapor cartridges for your respirator?
Otherwise your not protected. Organic vapor cartridges have a shelf life also. They should not be used past that date. If used briefly in a low concentration atmosphere you may be able to extend their useable life if you can store them in an air tight container (with fresh air). Otherwise consider them a single use item.
You may already know this but many don’t. I’ve had guys pull out month or two old cartridges, still on their uncleared respirator. (Give me contact info for your next of kin). Others with particulate or even hepa filter cartridges without a thought as to what they were trying to protect themselves against. Although they had all been trained.

Yes, they are vapor cartridges and I do keep them in a tightly sealed bag, but you bring up a good point to change them often. I will do that again just to be safe. Thanks!
