Hey there, i wanted to comment on the 8 track. Cat Stephens converted to Islam and dropped off the face of the earth for awhile. There are lots of classic car owner people that put 8 tracks in their cars to be able to play those old tapes. Hope you find a use for them or can sell them. The old radio is worth doing some research on, but the vacuum tubes can be worth 100s of dollars since they are rare and necessary for making these old units work again. Good luck figuring out what to do with the cabin.@@GoodLivingAlaska
My great grandmother's radio ❤❤❤ we attempted to repair it but they no longer make the tubes for it. I remember it was the only thing in her home for entertainment. No TV. Loved that radio 📻
That radio takes me back to my childhood. The glow from the dial was so comforting. I used to sit in front of it with my brother, ear close to the speaker, listening to see if our school would be closed because of snow! Such good memories. Also, use to listen to Cat stevens all the time. You may find a collector that would be interested in them but, I wouldn't expect much. Great finds.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! So glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back good memories, especially about a school being closed 😊!
The old radio is 1940's ish vintage and the can in it is the antennae. The old radios like that had to have an external antennae in order to realize it's best reception. That appears to be an early attempt at keeping it all contained within the cabinet and not have to run wires outside to an antennae. We had one similar to that when I was growing up made by Sears and it sounded fantastic. All tubes of course since there were no commercial transistors at that point. That would come another ten years or so down the line. If you can get it to work it will surprise you how good it will sound on stations that are reasonably close by. The tuning was not as precise on those old sets as todays, but for the stronger stations they just sounded great.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks so much for sharing with us 😊! That's really interesting! We would love to try to get it working again 😊.

Console radios are not as popular to collectors due to their larger size, even though they are a more premium radio. Smaller table top radios are currently the most popular. As is, the radio is worth about $50. Fully electrically restored, along with a cabinet restoration, with the correct knobs, the radio would be worth about $350.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing all of this information with us! We really appreciate you taking the time 😊! That's so cool you restore antique radios! That's good to know that most parts are available and can be replaced.
If you had that radio here where I live, I'd fix it for you. I even have knobs for it. Bit I guess we're about 2,000 miles south of you or even more. The big can in the bottom was a special antenna that would allow you to pick up stations from far away without an outdoor antenna. I suspect it was an amplified antenna also. Your cassettes are actually 8-track tapes. They were popular just before the audio cassette came out. We still have a stereo system with an 8-track, but don't use the 8-track. No, I'm not that old, but my Dad had a Radio-TV repair shop where I learned about these things.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing all of this with us 😊! That's cool about your Dad having a shop! I bet you learned a lot! Too bad we are not closer. Would have been nice to have you take a look at it and fix it up 😊!
I am not a fan of demoing a property, but, I think your best bet is to tear it all down and start from scratch, It is just too cobbled together. You'd spend more money trying to bring it up to snuff than just building something decent.
My parents had an old radio just like that one,mom and Dad would listen to county n western all the time on sundays, but also listening to the weather especially when the weather was changing..yep back in the 60s...66 now!

@@GoodLivingAlaskaI used to watch my grandfather mend radios like that back in the 1950s and 1960s. It looks to me like you have a complete radio there. The tubes (those metal cylinders sticking up) may no longer work, but I noticed they have their serial numbers intact. There are specialist retailers who can supply those via the mail. If you take the model number and search online you can find the repair manual to show you how to replace the wiring and tubes. With a bit of research and work, you should be able to get it working. No special tools needed, just flat-head screw drivers and a fine guage soldering iron.
The radio is a twin of the one we had when I was a kid in the late 40's and early 50's, before television. Listened to many Westerns, Mysteries, the Breakfast Hour and more.
I grew up with 8 track tapes. A family of 9, big old station wagon and beach boys playing on the 8 track as we drive over the hill to Santa Cruz Beach thru our summers. I don’t know about your particular radio but my late husband use to buy the smaller SOlid State radios and tinker with until they worked. It was often just a blown fuse. There’s something about listening to those old SS radios. Be safe and stay warm.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! Sounds like awesome memories! That's good to know about the fuse! You, too 😊!
Our old camper/bus conversion had an 8 track tape player. Some of the 8 track tapes are worth a bit, some not so much. But they are different from regular cassette tapes. Look them up online and see if any of them are worth anything. You have a lot of work to do there, but it is an awesome place. I must say I would love to have a place like yours in Alaska. Great video again. Have a blessed week.
Oh my goodness you’re going to have a beautiful view from upstairs when it’s all fixed! That radio is an Antique! You’re going to have a beautiful life together in Alaska! Those cassettes may be worth money. I wish my husband could see them up close.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing and for the kind words 😊! The view upstairs was definitely a favorite and will be nice when fixed 😊
Eight track tapes came out in the mid70s. Cassette tapes came out long before that. The selling point for the eight track tape was that it ran in a continuous loop and you never had to rewind it. They were great to listen to, but they were infamous for becoming tangled up and ruined. As for any technology gone by the wayside there is a small group of collectors out there. Cat Stevens, tea for the Tillerman… I have on vinyl and CD. Epic album you should check out.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate you sharing the information 😊! That's great you didn't have to rewind it, but could see where it could become tangled. I will definitely have to look him up 😊!
Are you sure it wasn’t before that? I had enough sense to know things by the mid 70’s and I can barely remember them! All I can remember is cassette tapes and vinyl records.
My Mom had 100s of 8 tract tapes when I was young. Her Favorite were Rod Stewart and Roy Head. Fun memories. We enjoyed watching the video and the oreo smores looked good. I had never heard of those.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing about your mom! Glad it was fun memories 😊! Definitely recommend trying an Oreo smore!
Love the floor console radio! That's an art deco style. It became less popular after WW2. This one was probably made in the late 30's to early 40's. MY grandpa has his own tv/radio/stereo repair shop. He loved working on those old tube consoles. The missing knobs are super hard to find. I noticed a yellowed piece of paper on the upper left corner when you turned it around. It should have a model number on it. It maybe GE Model L -915W.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing all this great information with us 😊! That's so cool your grandpa had his own shop! Will definitely take a look at that paper for the model number 😊!
Really enjoying can’t wait till you are doing it up. Makes me feel old we had one of those 8tracks was amazing.doubt if they are worth much nothing is these days.love the family thank you .❤

The zip-loc bag in the Airstream was coax cable for a CB radio ball mount. It has 2 eyelets on 1 end and a PL-259 connector on the other to screw onto the back of a CB radio, or ham radio.
70s and early 80s 8 tracks...omg i had an 8 track player in my 67 gto...man i miss those days. Omgosh i sound like my Pops😂 Great find and once again- ebay! My Dad had a bunch of old 8 tracks my brother sold them for a good bit after our Dad passed.
Oh wow, 8 track tapes, amazing find. Might be worth something to a collector if they work. Cat Stevens does the song Cats In The Cradle I think. I think the Airstream has potential! Great video!

That big upright radio is an old tube AM radio. Not worth a ton of money but you could sell that to someone who restores them. Might be a little tough to find in Alaska, though. Obviously may not even work, given the abandoned nature of that place. It looks all original, though never seen anything like that big cylinder thing at the bottom in the back. I did notice the electrical cord was the original 2-prong style, which should be replaced if you were to end up using it. As-is, it's a fire hazard, you really want a grounded 3 wire cord for safety. I used to have one really similar to that, I recognized it immediately when you opened the door. Mine was by "Motorola", my dad used to listen to it as a kid (Flash Gordon, Lone Ranger type of radio serials). I ended up selling it to someone who restores them. It was cool decoration and an interesting conversation piece, but I'm of the opinion it should be restored and actually used/enjoyed by someone who is into them. There is a market for restored/working radios like that. Those "cassettes" you found are 8-tracks. I used to go out to my dad's truck and listen to ABBA on 8-track. This was back in the 70s.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Really appreciate you sharing all of your knowledge with us about the radio 😊! That's cool you had a similar one! Would be nice to restore it, but yes might be hard to find someone in Alaska.
cats in the cradle (cat stevens) depending on shape his 8 track tapes are worth between $30 up to $200,00 dollars. so check on all the 8 track tapes i played them in my car in the 70's
Gosh! You are one brave man! I was nervous watching you on the ladder but, upstairs was freaking me out! The land is valuable and, you can think about whether you want to tear it down and rebuild, while it is wintery. It's a project, anyways. Living up there will be wonderful on weekends. You are such an explorer. I was laughing when you found the old radio. What guy wouldn't be! Another project! Having fun? Mocha is happy to come along. Good thing you remembered your snowblower. The Airstream is a good asset. Good luck on the tree cutting! I gotta keep watching.😅 VHS cassette!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! So glad you enjoyed the video! It was a little scary going up the ladder to second floor. Didn't know what to expect! Mocha loves going on these adventures 😊!
Definitely put money into the Airstream . Defintely, dont put money into that cabin. It just looks moldy, poorly built, and a fire hazard. I suppose a water tank would be the way to there. That water looks deadly. The property itself is picturesque and will provide a nice home for a cozy little cabin, especially around Christmas.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! So glad you enjoyed the video ! It was fun looking through and finding stuff! Happy Holidays to you, too 😊!
Thank you for sharing your adventures in looking through the stuff on your new property. It's always fun exploring. Your property is beautiful. You could do so much with it for your family. I'm thinking log cabin two story but that's your dream to what you want to put on it. Have fun and enjoy it all. Your young and full of energy to do a lot. The old radio is nice but not worth much these days. Here I see them being offered around $40 or so not working. It would make a nice piece of furniture to turn into something usuable.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Glad you enjoyed the video! It was fun looking through stuff! Thanks for all your suggestions 😊! It's going to take a lot of work, but worth it! Would be fun to make the radio into furniture if it doesn't work.
I believe the round thing in the bottom of the radio is an antenna. No way to know if it will work except to try it. It will take a while for it to warm up and turn on if it works. Don't plug it in until you replace the knobs. Those old radios fed power to the metal chassis when they were plugged in. This was before the days when plugs were polarized so the chassis could be connected to the hot side of the line or the ground side depending on which side of the plug is up. No way to know so you need some sort of knob that don't conduct to electricity. This also means that the metal in the back of the radio could give you a shock if you touch it when the radio is plugged in. Those tapes are 8 track tapes popular in the late1960s or early 1970's. They tended to stretch and brake so there were unreliable. They also had tracking accuracy issues causing cross talk. They were replaced by compact cassettes in the mid 1970's as noise reduction improved because they were more reliable.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing all of this useful information 😊! It's all very interesting! Others are saying it's an antenna.
Thanks so much for being a part of our journey 😊! We are so glad you are enjoying us and thanks so much for the sweet comments about our little family and best wishes 😊!

Another awesome video. must be very cold. It is very hot here in Penrith. It is has been above 35°C= 95°F. We had a temperature of 42°C= 107.6°F two days ago. We have our air conditioners on. I do not enjoy Australian Summer. I am blessed that we have the air conditioners. I am not sure what to think about the cabin. It looks old and shabby, not safe. If it was me, I would tear it down and build a better cabin. My thoughts only. I support you no matter what you both decide. The airstream has a lot of potential. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Thanks for watching another one of our adventures 😊! It is pretty cold, but wow where you are is pretty hot! We lived in Texas, which is very hot in the Summer, too! Thanks for your suggestions and same to you 😊!
13:38 Ahhh..., c'mon! That hurts! Someone who has never seen an 8-track cassette tape?! I must be getting really old! If you don't want them, send them to me. I still have my Panasonic 8-track player from back in the day! They're coming back, you wait and see! 😂 13:54 The 1970s!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing with us 😊! We need to look more into how old the airstream is and if we can see about finding a player 😊.
First think you should do is install a house wrap to protect the exterior walls and then install exterior wall panels which will also help with insulation in order to keep the cabin warm. Perhaps install a propane heater. You can find how to on UA-cam. "Martin" heaters seem to be an excellent choice. Good luck with the maintenance.
That Radio you found upstairs $$$ Those 8tracks used to be the best for a car , as potholes didn't affect the player Cat Steven's most famous songs was "Cats in the Cradle"
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! Will definitely look into the radio. That's cool about the potholes! I am familiar with that song 😊!
We all had 8- tracks in the seventies followed by cassette tapes. The radio is from the twenties or thirties. WWII era and all could be worth some thing I know the trailer is a collectable and often sought by people to restore. Same with that radio. People used to meet at the house of some one that had one and sit and watch the radio. My mother passed six years ago at the age of 95 and grew up during the depression and remembered all these things from childhood.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing your story about the radio and glad your Mom had good memories 😊! That's very interesting! Will have to look more into restoring both of them.

Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing all of this with us 😊! That's cool about your Dad having a shop! I bet you learned a lot! Too bad we are not closer. Would have been nice to have you take a look at it and fix it up 😊!
airstream are worth a lot of money even in the shape yours is in because they can be restored
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing your information with us 😊!
I am not a fan of demoing a property, but, I think your best bet is to tear it all down and start from scratch, It is just too cobbled together. You'd spend more money trying to bring it up to snuff than just building something decent.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate you sharing your suggestions 😊! It is a weird layout!
My parents had an old radio just like that one,mom and Dad would listen to county n western all the time on sundays, but also listening to the weather especially when the weather was changing..yep back in the 60s...66 now!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate you sharing 😊! Sounds like good times!
I'm old enough to remember those eight-track tapes and I had a few myself.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊!
Can't wait to see what you all do with that cabin it could be fixed up and be beautiful

Air Stream!! Worth Money!! 8 Track Tapes as well😊😊 Great Finds!! Congrats 😊
Thanks for watching and joining us on your adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing and for the best wishes 😊!
Yep 8 tracks. We have an original hifi system with a player and some my wife got at a thrift store. Ours still works. They came before cassettes came out.
Glad you got up too safely! Looks like fun.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! That's awesome you have an original player! Might have to look for one. Thanks and it was good to finally see the upstairs.
Thanks for taking us along for the visit. 😊 This property is so beautiful. Hope you can get something for the 8-tracks.
And I must say your dog is just super cute!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! So glad you like the video and the property 😊! Aww thanks! We think Mocha is pretty cute, too 😊!
That old radio... if nothing else, keep it and re-style it into a something! It is really groovy looking😍
Looking forward to seeing what y'all do with your new land YAY👍
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! That's a really good idea if we can't get it to work!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! Sounds like great memories 😊!
You, too 😊!
8 tracks are worth a bunch and cat Steven's is famous big time
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate you sharing your information 😊! Had no idea they were worth a lot!
I love this! BTW, Those are 8 track tapes from the 70's!! The airstream is worth the renovation! KEEP IT! use it for a guest house!!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊! A guest house is a cool idea!
Thanks for watching and appreciate your kind words 😊! Hoping you can have a place, too 😊! Thanks for sharing and will definitely look them up!
A lot of potential in that property. Good luck🇺🇸🥰
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! We think so, too, just a lot of work!
This looks like a old 1930's or late 30"s model radio awesome
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! We will have to do some research on it!
Those are called 8 tracks...I have the Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman in vinyl. I got it back in 1970. And I still treasure it.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing and will have to look him up 😊!
I do believe the radio in the upper floor you were asking about is an 8 track player. That would explain the 8 tracks you found in the air stream. 😊
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Yes, it would! We need to look more into it.
@@GoodLivingAlaska your welcome
Good luck with your new journey
Really enjoying can’t wait till you are doing it up. Makes me feel old we had one of those 8tracks was amazing.doubt if they are worth much nothing is these days.love the family thank you .❤
8-Tracks. I remember them well. Today, worth nothing. Cat Stevens was very popular in the days. I had records, then upgraded to CD, and still have the same somewhere in the pile.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Makes us happy that you are enjoying our videos. Thanks for the sweet compliment about our family 😊!
The radio and the airstream are worth a good penny. I miss Alaska.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! Will need to do more research on it! It is one of those places you fall in love with and miss 😊!

I still have an 8 track player and a case full of tapes (mostly country). Good find and cabin.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊! It was definitely a fun find!
The zip-loc bag in the Airstream was coax cable for a CB radio ball mount. It has 2 eyelets on 1 end and a PL-259 connector on the other to screw onto the back of a CB radio, or ham radio.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate you sharing all of your information with us 😊!

Old tube type radio, the thing in the bottom is the antenna. May have to replace some of the tubes. But should work
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Appreciate the information and good to know about the tubes!
Wow!! Ant For Sure , Hold On To It!!😊
Definitely put money into the Airstream . Defintely, dont put money into that cabin. It just looks moldy, poorly built, and a fire hazard.
I suppose a water tank would be the way to there. That water looks deadly.

1976 I was buying brand new 8 tracks
The airstream is NOT junk. It could be an awesome reno
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for your suggestion 😊!
8 track tapes (late 70s) were to music like what Beta tapes (mid-80s) were to movies 😳 ..totally just dated myself 😂

Those 8 track tapes are worth something . That radio is priceless !
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Will definitely have to look the tapes up and the radio would be nice working and redone 😊!

That's a great album, their probably all to brittle to play. That Airstream is a great camper, that one is probably 40 -50 years old.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing with us 😊! We need to look more into how old the airstream is and if we can see about finding a player 😊.

Eight tracks are the tapes, and the radio is an antique style one of good quality for when it was made.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing 😊!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing your suggestions with us 😊! Good ideas and will definitely look into it 😊!
I felt old when the 8 track was talked about, they were the thing in the late 70’s
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Hope it brought back good memories 😊!
That Radio you found upstairs $$$
Those 8tracks used to be the best for a car , as potholes didn't affect the player
Cat Steven's most famous songs was "Cats in the Cradle"
Yes they are
