One small correction: The V8 Coupe was always the E92, the sedan was always the E90 and the Vert was the E93.

The M3 E46 GTR brings back so many memories from NFS Most Wanted 2005, easily the best NFS game till date.
I still love the old M3 model and here in Germany you can see them quite often ! I even saw one in such condition you would think it was produced yesterday ! Amazing car for real !

Slight correction- The E92 was not a refresh of the E90... The E90 was the 4 door, the E91 was the wagon, the E92 was the coupe, and the E93 was the convertible. The M3's availability in each body style changed per year (but it was never available as an E91 wagon) but it stayed pretty consistent throughout the run, aside from some tweaks to the iDrive system.

Yes!!! This is important to the story because it caused the split in model name, it's again so German that they have to change the model name based on what the engineers part numbers were for the chassis. E92 was actually the first 4 series

what racees demand: street legal cars modified for racing
what manufactures did every since: build race cars and make them street legal
There hasn't been a proper street legal race car in a long time. The last one I can think of is the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

@@Eagle_Beak Modern rally cars are nothing like old school rally cars. It used to be that a company built a car for rally, then made a street legal version. Now, they just take a model that already exists and mod the shit out of it until it's barely recognisable as the original car. Therefore, they don't really count anymore
@@filmandfirearms they built dedicated cars for group B because homologation rules were very loose. Apart from that, rally teams always used production cars simply because rules of Group A state so.

Great video! One minor thing, E90 is the sedan, E92 is the Coupe (also E91 is the wagon) the facelift does not affect the number, it's just a facelift or LCI as they call it.

thats literally every e90 m3, thats why people get confused. e9X M3s all use the same front end, doesn't matter if it's a coupe, sedan or vert.

One of the guys at my work has a '78 320i. Currently, it's bone stock, but he used to have an E36 M3 which was wrecked in a 4 car tandem when the guy in front of him spun out. He managed to salvage the engine and transmission, and he's going to put them in his 320i

I had a Z3M convertible in Azure Blue that was a blast to drive. Problem is they didn't upgrade the welds, or some of the frame work to handle the boost in horsepower compared to the standard Z3. I lucked out and my welds lasted. The guy I sold it to can worry about that.

Amazing video. Been following Donut for a while now. What I've found is that the more modern the M badge and AMG models become, the more comforts and electronics they add which increases maintenance costs. I feel like the BMWs of the 2000s struck a nice balance between the unsafe, slightly primitive older models and the overcomplicated and downright ugly latest models.
