We got so many great goalies in MTL i didnt realised how good Patrick Roy was. Since we got ''the best goalie in the world'' Carey Price i see how good he was, Price isnt 1/3 of what Roy was. He was so constant, not a 3 years span like Thoedore or even Price, he did it year after year after year, plus the guy had so much dog in him. A real hockey player and a great goalie.

    • @MaxxerG

@Murphy Habs Lol. Price is actually a better goalie. You think Roy could play like this in today’s game? Look how slow these players are. Price is so technically sound. I fail to understand why people keep saying this was a great era in hockey. 1994 marked the beginning of the dead puck era and dominance of the neutral zone trap. Scoring would plummet that year and and continue to decline for the next decade. What was so great about that?

They say it was a great era mostly because it marked the last time we would see Gretzky and Lemieux dominate. The last of the 200 point giants. An achievement that can never happen again in hockey...unless goalie pads are drastically reduced and nets are enlarged? But that's just crazy talk.

Candy Pie is the most overrated ever (okay 2nd perhaps), that he year after year gets rated as "best in league" is a sad joke. He got too many playoffs with sub 90% with a VERY good MTL with very a good defense, and has for now 3 straight weak seasons (including a very very VERY bad one). But hey he will for sure gets top rate din the next season again and same shit with EA's NHL game, which he ALWAYS gets the best overall score of all! Candy Pie doesn't even have 0.00001% of winning mentality of Roy, but he got an Olympics Gold some of you'll for sure countering, but just check out the roster of that Canada team....the best defensive hockey team ever along with the MTL in 70's! Plus just check out how few shots he faced on that tournament, and in the finals he only got easy and weak long shots on him, since the D-mens (no the whole canadian team) of Canada stopped every Swedes from coming even "close" to him...he was barely sweaty after the game.... I has NEVER seen a goalie with such little sweat after a such big game! Just 0.01% of Hasek and Roy completely destroys Candy Pie.

@@ELWOPPO2010 ... First of all, you absolutely cannot be 100% sure that CanadiENs (not CanadiANs, man. Spelling...) would not have eliminated the Bruins if they had faced each other in 1993. For the simple fact that it didn't happen, they didn't face each other. Every series is independant from the years before and years after. In 1988, the Bruins finally eliminated the Habs even though they were unable to do so for 45 years before that year. Every series is unique and independant.
Same thing for the decade of 2000's : Habs won in 2002, 2004 and 2008... but Boston was able to win in 2009.
Or perhaps you're simply saying that the 1993 Habs weren't strong enough to beat the 1993 Bruins? I sure hope that's not what you're suggesting because Bruins, Nordiques and Habs all got more than 100 points during the regular season. All 3 teams were strong. BUT Bruins choked in the 1st round and got sssssssWEPT by the Sabres. and then the Habs ssssssssWEPT the same Sabres. And to top it all off, they won the Cup.
