I've re-watched this clip SO many times. I love this piece played on piano, much better than strings imo, and this performer is sublime. My father used to play this too - maybe not quite so well! - but this piece so beautifully played as in this clip, will always tug at my heartstrings - this is a beautiful video, thank you so much for sharing it with the world
The sound has a nice bright tone on the top. But I feel that the color change at 1:02 is completely missing, whereas most orchestras make sure to change the color. I feel that it is a small yet spectacular moment in a brief but meaningful interlude.

Good performance. I was also thinking about playing this transcription. But in this kind of piece it´s very difficult to imitate the orquestra. I don´t think the pianist should try it... It´s a completely different version and therefore something different must be done... keeping the soul of the music of course.

Good rendition, but in the end, this piece simply doesn't work on the piano. I've played this transcription many times, and always felt it lacking. It made me realize the heart of this piece is the crescendos and diminuendos on the strings, and you can't really mime that on the piano. You try with the tremolo, sure, but it doesn't sound right either. The same with the harp accompainment, that sound lovely in the orchestral version bur very stiff on the piano.
