These are exactly all the reasons I love playa! I feel so much safer here than back home in Canada. Would have never thought that before moving here. Thanks for the great content guys!

I live in Playa as well. I wish I ran into you for the interview. I absolutely love it. The summer heat is the one thing I dislike.

I'm a immigrant here from USA 🇺🇸. 1. Locals that works in real estate and foreigners also that work in that job field making everything expensive by raising the prices for no reason to make more money, then it hurt the other locals cost of living there. 2, the streets flood so easily when it rains. 3, people don't want to learn the language and culture and still bring the country they coming from here. 4, the good is, the beach is about 20 minutes the furthest from anywhere in playa. 5. Playa del Carmen is 45 minutes from cancun amd tulum, a ferry to cozumel. 6. The food not the best, because missing lot of the culture of it. 7. 5th Ave is a tourist trap. But it is fun here, be your own happiness, mind your own business. 8. I wish they would used actual more locals away from the 5th ave. 9. Playa economy is mostly from tourist, but doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful. 10. It's so hot from May to end of October, that humidity is not joke. That will make your electricity bill very high and there's no central air.

I thought this was the people from Mexico. People who are native to Playa del Carmen. Ask that population how they feel. That is who I would like to hear from.

Hello Maria, how are you? Thank you for your comment and for watching our video.
We interviewed several Mexicans and also some foreigners in order to get different perspectives. In total, we interviewed 6 different people from Mexico that have been living in Playa from 3 years to 25 years.
The purpose of this video was to ask residents who moved here from other cities in Mexico or other countries, what they love or don't love about Playa and to know a little about their story. This video was meant to help those people thinking of moving here, by listening to those that have already moved and have been here for some time 😀 Thanks again for your comment and we hope you enjoy our upcoming videos. Take care 🙏

I'm from Europe, staying here for a few months, but wouldn't want to live here actually. I'm disappointed because videos like this made me think I wanna move here, that's why I came to check it out, well lesson learned. Not everything in these videos are as rosey as advertised!! Things I like: Sunny hot weather, Beach, Nature - Wild animals, plants everywhere, tropical fruits, seafood etc. What I don't like: Trash everywhere on the streets, dogshit, broken glass, rotting moldy stuff, used mattresses, all sorts of things.. It stinks horribly and possibly a health hazard. + I find that half of the people are super kind and welcoming, the other half is quiet rude even almost aggressive, even though I'm kind and speak spanish etc. Thats my experience, very disappointing. The locals have many many cats and dogs, skinny, starving and dirty, kept in horrible conditions, the tourists are feeding them mostly, but local people don't care. Also prices are more expensive than in Europe so not true that its sooo affortable as many expats boast about. Lastly the NOISE, the insane loud mexican music blasting everywhere all the time constantly nonstop, unbearable even through closed windows, not normal. I suppose being loud is part of their culture, so I would have to accept that. But the smell and sight of trash everywhere.. These people live in Paradise and don't appreciate it. Sad.

Playa del Carmen is a party town, what you’re looking for is Merida or puerto Escondido

FIVE MONTHS in... love it. the area, the people, mexican and immigrant.. my only complaint is the humidty, being a texan that says a lot. as for safety ill be more worried abou the cops and federales robbing you walking home at night.

We're so happy you love it here! The humidity does get quite hot in the summer but we are blessed with gorgeous cooler weather in the winter. Makes it all worth it.

Did you prop the little man up on a stool for the intro? he looks taller than you now, did he suddenly grow 10 inches? ... haha, I might come visit Playa del Crimen this winter season, I live in San Diego, California, yes way more expensive but Mexico sounds like too much trouble, then the cartels are extorting the mom and pop shops in playa del carmen, what's next? Mexico is a socialist country as well, leaning left more and more and they've expropriated property before and kicked out foreigners, who is to say they won't do it again with gentrification and migration patterns. Big risk, I would say rent for at least 3 years, South East Asia is WAY CHEAPER than Mexico for the same bang or more: Bangkok, Eastern Europe, Thailand, etc, Mexico costs several times more because its close to the US, this causes mass price inflation! Playa del Crimen is overrated! it gets 100 degrees feeling in 100 percent humidity in the summer there plus the hurricanes, mold and crime, its not that great ... that's what I think of Playa del Crimen btw.
