Guys I liked your content, very informative. My family and I had bad experience in Playa last year close to the Ferry Terminal right on the beginning of the 10th Ave. We had planned to spend some money like usually does We were at the store looking for souvenirs and buy some of them everything was so expensive. It wasn’t the first time in Cancún and I saw alarmed how was prices. After that we decided to walk down street and our surprise was how the souvenirs were lowering and lowering the prices. Yes, I have a tip to void loosing money. When paying vendors or any bill in cash ( Mexican pesos). Make sure to count the money, bill by bill in front of them. If you hand them a bunch of bills is very likely they will says " excuse but you are short by $ 200 or $300 pesos or even more. They are very experienced in hiding the cash as soon as you hand it to them.
Hola amigo *Cezar*, this is an amazing tip! The people mainly at the 5th have certain business practices that do not make me feel so proud, but this is a great tip to be shared. Thank you again for watching and commenting amigo 🙏🫶
True, you can definitely find more authentic parts of Playa if you move away from the tourist zone 🙂 However, the city is still built around tourism, meaning that tens of thousands of Mexicans come to Playa from all over the country to work in all the hotels and theme parks. Because of this, a lot of Playas unique cultural identity is blurred because of the influence from so many other states in the country 🫣🇲🇽
@@patrickandrews5166 Hi Patrick, are you still in PDC? I am a senior citizen, I plan on visiting soon. If I like PDC, I may end up looking for an apt .
My tip is actually about not visiting but about "Leaving Playa del Carmen": do not forget that you can use ADO bus station Alterna to go back to Cancun airport. The two stations are quite well apart and it may happen that Alterna is more convenient for you to depart. Why to depart only? Buses from Cancun do not arrive or stop there. Another point to remember is that at Alterna they mostly speak Spanish only.
Definitely ADO alterna is our preferred option as it’s quieter sometimes 🤭. Definitely, using ADO is the best option to commute and going back to the airport rather than taking taxis that are always ready to scam tourists most of the time 🫠. Thanks for watching and sharing this info. 🙏🏼

@@ForTheRoadTravels Hola! September (in PDC and Tulum) was hot, hot, hot. (Maybe I should have waited until October/November or later.) On the other hand, it was much more relaxing to be in Quintana Roo during the low season with fewer tourists. Also, the much dreaded sargassum was not an issue at any of the beaches I went to. I am already planning my next trip to PDC (in a few months)! Until then, I will just have to entertain myself by watching all of your excellent vlogs about QR (and other topics) all over again. 🙂

Nice video guys and very helpful. What about parking in the several beaches with your car? Are they scams there? Pay for parking or is it public? Any advise? Thanks.
Hola amig@, We highly suggest using car parks as you could park on some streets with white line nevertheless there are some areas where there are park meters and are not quite visible. There are a few car parks with about 10-20 MXN per hour 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hola *Jonathan*, 🙌 Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we truly appreciate it, amigo, we send you all the great vibes and thank you for your support 🤩🤗
Akumal... I fell in love with Akumal bay and got to swim with turtles rays an adolescent octopus and some interesting fish!! It was also beaitifully clear that the under water sea grass looked amazing!!!
Hola Amig@, Thank you very much for your comment and for watching our video. Even though we did not have a great experience in Akumal at the beach area, specially for the amount of sargassum was at that time. But we really love the charm of the town. Thank you again for commenting, sending you all the great vibes. 🙏🫶
Is better to exchange the USD into pesos, as typically establishments will take USD at lower rates, and prices are 99% of the time displayed in MXN. You can still pay in USD of course we love USD because when we exchange into pesos money goes further. We hope this info helps 🙏
Aw, thank you so much amigo *Alberto*, awesome we are glad you guys had an amazing time in PDC, and we hope you guys can come back soon and explore even further 🥰🤩. Thank you so much for your well wishes in our business 🙏🙏🙏. Saludos amigo!!
How about Campeche or Progresso ? Better than PDC ? Obviously a lot of people go to Merida, is good ? I prefer being close to the beaches but I like to have big stores like Costco, Walmart etc nearby
Adding the tip to your bill is illegal in Mexico,i always ask if they do before i eat or drink anywhere,if they do just walk out.The police don;t do anything if you complain...
Hola *Pedro* 🙌 Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. We have another option which is Banco Azteca (part of the Elektra Store) nevertheless this store has only 3 branches in PDC and it's typically packed and the waiting times are crazy, the reason why we suggested San Jorge as our main option in this video 🤗. but thank you very much for letting us know amigo.
@@pedror.m2865 We love that you can get a better exchange rate but if your are on vacations it's kind of a waste of time, unless you're for a long period 🤩🫶
Hey Neil 🥰 As far as we can tell, there is no way for the government to penalise you for failing to pay, just yet. It seems like you can just leave the country without paying right now, but I'm not sure if this will affect you for future visits 🥲 We'd recommend just paying at any of the Visitax kiosks located in the airport just to avoid any potential problems or fines later on 🙏

If you don’t mind, how much would a person need to bring on average for food for 5 days in Playa Del Carmen? We are thinking of getting and airbnb instead of an all inclusive this time
Awesome this is the best way to explore the city instead confining in a hotel only. Well, this will depend on what are you looking for if you are going to eat at street stands or local restaurants you will be expecting to pay around USD 16 per person this does not include alcoholic drinks. If you want to check restaurantes at the 5th Avenue, around USD $30. If you were to travel by yourself eating like a local per day USD 60 per day. Eating at some restaurants at the 5th or nearby areas we would say USD $100. Keeping in mind that adding alcoholic drinks will rise up the amount of your bill! Correction to your video. Playa del Carmen WAS authentic Mexico until tourism changed everything. It was such a great Mexican village 20 years ago before all the greedy scammers came. The change was around 2010. I miss the real Playa! It was a great secret until the word got out, unfortunately.
PDC seems like a place that is acting to be a fun place but it’s inflated and scammy..I don’t know how I feel about going somewhere where I constantly have to be worried about crooked police, scammers, inflated prices, and taxi drivers and vendors who charge too much
Absolutely, as in any tourist place you will experience some of these things, but the reason why we made these types of *_videos_* so people can experience the place without being scammed. Anyway, thank you for watching and commenting.
I visited pdc a few days ago , if your prone to be exploited you probably will anywhere in the world. If your a bit more street smart and vigilant you'd have a better time.
Ive been to Playa. Yes there are aggressive street vendors however I never felt unsafe. I just ignored the vendors. The can pick gringos and europeans out of the crowd
Yes, of course the only downside is that you will need a car if you want to go to PDC downtown, as the distances can be a bit far from the main gate which is close to the fifth avenue. Taxis just for a short drive might want to charge you premium prices. We hope this explanation helps. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏🏼🫶
I was there last summer with my whole family and plain simple no body like it,totally over rate it and over expensive,do not go to playa del Carmen actually you really need to know there is no beach at playa del Carmen the city is built all the way to the edge of the ocean you can’t even walk on the beach also there is no access to the ocean I know it don’t make sense but that is what you will find!!
Hola *Ed* , Thank you for watching and commenting, We're sorry you guys didn't have a great experience, PDC in fact is very expensive if you compare it with other places in Mexico, but if you explore a bit the local areas we bet you can get better prices. Erosion of the beach is a thing that affects all the shores, a few days ago we went to the beach and there was a good portion of the beach, also depends on which beach you visit. We hope you can have the chance to explore more options in the State, so you can get a better experience. Saludos and thanks again for watching 🙏
I lived here for 2 years got robbed by a truck full of cops walking home drunk one night !! Definitely avoid hiring a car at all costs !! IMO of course ….gringos are a massive target 🎯 for extortion to just be careful but enjoy 😉🙌🏆✌️✊

Wish I would have seen this video BEFORE I booked my Airbnb, as the place I'm staying is in Villas Del Sol 😅. Unfortunately I'm on a very limited budget and this was one of the only places I could find that had the availability I needed, and although I don't mind the distance from everything since I'm am quite used to walking, the area does seem quite sketchy especially at night. That said, I try to plan my trips so I can get back to the apartment before it gets (too) late.
Hola amigo 👋👋 Aw, we're sorry to hear that. Villas del Sol has had a bad reputation due to the increase in crime rates. However, this also depends on which area of VDS. I have my older brother living there, and they haven't experienced anything bad, luckily. We might say VDS has one of the routes with the most units (big buses and combis) for public transportation, so you should not lack that. We wish you the best on your trip and hope you get the most out of it. Thank you for watching and leaving your comment; we truly appreciate it.

Geovannys brother also lives there and says the same thing - you just have to know which areas within Villas del Sol to avoid 🙏
Hola friends, thxx for your nice upload . Love to watch it. We got a great time last sept. in PlayaCar. Stay in viva Azteca was super. So nice people and location. The beach was so fine. And also the sea 🌊

My 9 year old and I have taken 5 classes each with Chichén Itza language school. Its a family run school. It felt like the best one for us. More friendly to kids. I think there are 5 or 6 language schools in Playa. 😊
@colleeng7274 that’s awesome we will take a look on that school 🙏🏼. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼❤️
Nice video guys and very helpful. What about parking in the several beaches with your car? Are they scams there? Pay for parking or is it public? Any advise? Thanks.
Hola amig@,
We highly suggest using car parks as you could park on some streets with white line nevertheless there are some areas where there are park meters and are not quite visible. There are a few car parks with about 10-20 MXN per hour 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great video and very informative! Thanks again! 💯

Hola Amig@,
Thank you very much for your comment and for watching our video.
Even though we did not have a great experience in Akumal at the beach area, specially for the amount of sargassum was at that time. But we really love the charm of the town. Thank you again for commenting, sending you all the great vibes. 🙏🫶
So pesos is better than bringing usd? I swear I'm not ignorant but just in my experience in DR / Aruba they like usd.
Is better to exchange the USD into pesos, as typically establishments will take USD at lower rates, and prices are 99% of the time displayed in MXN. You can still pay in USD of course we love USD because when we exchange into pesos money goes further. We hope this info helps 🙏
You guys were spot on! We visited playa del Carmen last month for a week and it was

Yes, this is an excellent point 🙌 Some restaurants love to do this, and unfortunately the cops are likely not going to care 🤭

Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. Hey Neil 🥰 As far as we can tell, there is no way for the government to penalise you for failing to pay, just yet. How does the city monitor the sunscreen? Is it ok to use reef safe sunscreen?
Hola Annie 🫶, thank *you* so much for watching and for your question 🤗.
There is no way the city is monitoring it, however, some of the parks will only allow the usage of reef-safe sunscreen, we strongly suggest the usage of UPF shirts but reef-safe sunscreen at the beaches would help as well.

We hope this info helps you for your travel plans.

Radio Taxi is no longer servicing PDC😢
Really? Where did you get that info from? We used it about 3 weeks ago 🤔🤔🤔
@@ForTheRoadTravelsWe were there for the first week of January staying in the Hollywood district and did NOT see ONE RADIO Taxi. Any attempt to use the app would show "not valid area for service". Attempt at contacting them with WhatsApp responded with "No podemos cargar ahi. Una discupla". All the taxis in PDC while we were there was another brand and the prices nearly doubled in many travel zones when compared to Radio Taxi rates. When I asked the driver about "Radio Taxi" their response to me was just "big changes in PDC".
With Uber the money in not going back into the community. Thanks for the local app advice .
*Totally* agree! but the problem with the taxi union is that its service from most of the drivers has been shocking, and rude even with us the locals. We found the app to be the best option so far. Thanks for watching and commenting Timmy 🫶🙏

Absolutely, this has been a big problem for over 10 years. Unfortunately is something that is unpredictable and the seasons can change. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏
Correction to your video. Playa del Carmen WAS authentic Mexico until tourism changed everything. It was such a great Mexican village 20 years ago before all the greedy scammers came. The change was around 2010.

Definitely, there are more aggressive with their selling tactics but not to harm people. Of course they focus more in the tourists. 🥲🫠
Any time you get in a taxi it’s at least 6 or 7 dollars
Depends but by using the App about that range!
Would you stay by the Playacar area?
Yes, of course the only downside is that you will need a car if you want to go to PDC downtown, as the distances can be a bit far from the main gate which is close to the fifth avenue. Taxis just for a short drive might want to charge you premium prices. We hope this explanation helps. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏🏼🫶

Hola *Ed* ,
Thank you for watching and commenting, We're sorry you guys didn't have a great experience, PDC in fact is very expensive if you compare it with other places in Mexico, but if you explore a bit the local areas we bet you can get better prices.
Hola amigo 👋👋
Aw, we're sorry to hear that.
