An important Zamindari close to Bhubaneswar. The Raja of Banki in Cuttack District, Orissa, established the Dompada Zamindari in the 17th century, as a gift to his second son and made him the Raja of Dompada. Dompada Zamindari is abundant in forests and wildlife. It is close to Bhubaneswar, the Capital of Orissa, on the banks of the River Mahanadi.
The presiding deity of Dompada is Shree Giridhari Jew, whose temple is located at Dompada. The present Chandaka-Dompada Wildlife sanctuary, particularly the elephant sanctuary is part of the old Dompada Zamindari.
