Not at all. To the contrary. It's by far more interesting if some things are left to the imagination. Many current productions are so unsavoury that they're unwatchable for anyone with even an ounce of common decency.

I had the privilege of meeting Lloyd Bridges here in the Cayman Islands. They were on a cruise and his wife Betty bought Elizabeth Arden in my store. He said to me 'you have beautiful blue eyes.' I replied "nothing like yours'!" He and his wife laughed. It was a pleasure indeed. 🤗🇸🇭

    Still watching but..
One can easily see themselves in the position of the father here. 😑
He should've admitted it all apologizing to all even if was going to devastate his daughter. Failure is a pain but pulling enough courage to admit it is decent and strong... and comforting.
The drunk guy who killed his friend though wasn't really going to be walked to the gas chamber like the sargeant told him because the guy was under the influence of alcohol. Another reason people should steer clear from that toxic stuff. The guy looked so kind by the way 😄. His voice is so fatherly and warm.

Some life lessons to learn here:
Life certainly is fragile. As far as possible, do not get involved in trying to sort out the personal relationships between others. It's incredibly easy to frame someone who in reality is innocent. Though slowly, the wheel turns, and one eventually will reap what you had sown.

While the acting was great, the plot of the story was a bit far-fetched. Even if the detective could convince the girlfriend to dump his son-in-law, a cheating husband will simply move on to another "floozy".

    Lloyd Bridges:
    Jan 15, 1913 -
    Mar 10, 1998
    Broderick Crawford:
    Dec 9, 1911 -
    Apr 20, 1986
@ 42:22 from their appearances, it's really hard to believe that Crawford is only 13 months older than Bridges! His heavy eating, and alcoholism took a toll on his health, and looks, by aging him prematurely. Surprisingly, he still lived to age 74. While Bridges clean lifestyle allowed him to live 12 years longer then Crawford, dying at age 86.

Brilliant method character actor, Crawford was. The jail house scene with him and Bridges (who's also great here), ought to be mandatory viewing in acting classes. A lesser actor couldn't have pulled off a more convincing performance, would've blinked in all the wrong spots but Crawford was totally believable all the way. He really could do everything, tough scary guy in Big House U.S.A. (1955) or poor soul like here.

@@LarryFleetwood8675 I couldn't agree more. Crawford really embodied the transient hobo/wino character here. The groggy speech, the lack of eye contact, the nervous tics, et al. I knew he was a decent thespian, but he really blew me away in this.
