@@melodiefrances3898 Not for me. I am a bit older than you, and I started to go less to movies then because they were less interesting. Granted there were a few really good ones, but fewer than in earlier decades.
Wow. Carroll was on her game here. I went to one of the conventions of film and TV people ages ago, before it became a big thing. It was at a hotel near SFO, the airport serving the San Francisco Bay Area. Really mostly TV people. Of course Star Trek, but this didn't have tons of fans..it was pretty low key. I was amazed to see one of the cast of Car 54 at a table, and even more amazed that he looked twice as healthy as I did in my 30's. when he had to be 60. Hank Garrett. But walking along the small tables, noticing the camaraderie and fun the people were having, there was Carroll Baker at her own table. I almost fell over. No line.. just right in front of me. Later she made that amazing film with Jack Nicholson, Ironweed.
The housekeeper, Felicity, is fabulous. Looks after the house, does gardening, gets rid of evidence.......What a gem! (and perhaps the real murderer of the 3 earlier wives)
GOOD MOVIE. MRS. CAROL BAKER DECIDED TO MAKE MOVIES IN EUROPE WHEN SHE WASN'T GETTING GOOD ROLES IN AMERICA. SHE TOLD MRS. M. MONROE TO DO THE SAME THING. ONE DAY MRS. BAKER SAW MRS. MONROE EATING ALONE AT A FAMOUS RESTUARANT AND MRS.BAKER SAT WITH MRS. MONROE. THAT WAS A GREAT SCENE OF THEM BOTH HAVING LUNCH/DINNER. RIP MRS. MONROE. MRS. BAKER IS 92 YO.
Made in Italian and then badly dubbed into English, this is so bad that it definitely qualifies as a cult classic! It's no wonder that both Craig and Baker have omitted this film from their filmographies. Excellent! Thank you for posting.
Loved the movie. When the husband told the inspector that Julia was his fourth wife I loved it when the inspector said, "That's a handful". Typical British humour and I was thinking of Bertie Wooster saying something like that to Jeeves in a Wodehouse series. Bertie Wooster: "That's quiet a handful Jeeves!". Jeeves: "Indeed Sir. The gentleman's frequency in tying marital knots are certainly on the higher side of the numerical scale sir".
Thank you for posting. It's a gem. The music in particular gives it a deliciously giallo flavor! (1971: that's right around the time of Argento's first film.)
This was certainly an interesting movie-a few parts that were a bit confusing but it had a definite ending- not leaving you wondering what happened- worth watching
Спасибо большое за такой прекрасный фильм. Очень люблю детективы и триллеры, этот один из лучших. Красиво снят, актеры играют превосходно. Посмотрела с огромным удовольствием. 🌺🌺🌺
The story is she hooked horns with the powers to be and was blacklisted and went to Europe to make films. That's what it like when you twist against the grain. Not saying she was wrong but she paid for it.
Now I've seen everything ... badly dubbed Italian 1970s shlockfest set in England. I just love those vertigo-inducing close ups ... So Italian ... so 60s/70s!
Thank Goodness there's someone like me, who sees DROSS when its put in front of them . This movie, was a jumble of crap, made worse with dreadful dubbing (IN ENGLISH) over British actors !....apart from Craig, and Miss Baker The music was like a Spaghetti Western, with a female voice going..."oooo eee ahhh, ooo ahh eeeee., and electric ghostly wailing ! I'm going to upcycle Michael's line to his new neighbour (35:12) " being born is like a journey through a road tunnel in a foreign country, you don't always know what it will look like on the other side. "
Very interesting. Well acted, well directed. I do love a surprise ending. STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE. I'll bump the SPOILERS way down so you don't see them by accident. At first I thought the maid had something to do with the dying wives. She seemed very devoted to him. Maybe thought those women didn't deserve him. But it was not likely she pushed the first wife at a construction site without being seen. So then I suspected him. He pushed the first wife to her death, buggered the brakes on the car of wife two but then he was harsh on wife three, she became unhappy and drugged herself to a stupor and drowned. Must be hard marrying a wealthy man. But then, it occurred to me the woman who came to him in the swimming pool might be a family member of one of the dead wives out to expose him somehow. The scriptwriter very cleverly had him threaten to break her neck when he caught her in the attic which really made it appear he killed his wives. The insane Julie Spencer was a complete surprise, a very fitting ending. Also, I thought it humorous, when the fake Julie Spencer woke up in bed she pulled that pink sweater over her head with no sign of a bra. Somehow in spite of all that was going on she managed to don a bra before we saw her in bed after the car accident. The inspector put his head on her chest and said, "She is still breathing". You would put your head on a persons chest to listen for a heartbeat. LOL.
I noticed that about the bra! Perhaps when she was still concussed she put it on! Perhaps she had a premonition that the Inspector would listen to her chest,so thought it wouldn't be seemly without her wearing a bra???!I also noticed that he said she was still breathing, after listening to her chest.Mad,or what?!I guessed that it was the real Mrs.Spencer who was after her copycat and that it was a family member of the 3rd wife, who Carroll Baker was playing. There is still that vibe at the end that Michael Craig did, indeed, murder his previous wives!👍🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️🐊🐊🐊
This was the most corn ball movie. Michael Craig was nice looking though. Wonder if those houses really exist today. They looked like actually filmed on huge country estates.
Was this the best film I've ever seen on YT?? No, or the worst?? No again. Reading some of the comments before this I think many people were expecting perfection in all aspects, be it acting, storyline, music, quality: the fact there is no Wikipedia page for the film and no active links in the main characters and film title indicates what was thought of it. BUT did I enjoy it? Yes, I bloody well did and, much as I thought I was in love with Carroll Baker, I confess to now being completely infatuated with the stunning Marina Malfatti, what a beauty... 💕💕❤❤💖💖💋💋💥💥💕💕
The movies of that Era were well directed and always kept u captivated.
Many people consider the 70s to be one of the greatest decades for movies. I came of age during that time and have to admit it spoiled me.

These two actors in 2023 are still alive in their 90s now. What stories they could tell!
I'm sure anyone in their 90s would have some stories to tell
They had a great run...good on them.

They got no CSI then😂
Well, he said he didn't love his wives before they died, and at the end Felicity says he isn't happy unless he's in love, so... Lol - yes, a true gem!
Interesting, I didn't think of that
Good longevity for those involved in this film. The director Eugenio Martin died this year at 97, Michael Craig is 94 and Carroll Baker is 92.

Picturesque mystery/romance, greatly enhanced by Miss Baker's portrayal of the duplicitous heroine.
I love this movie, and love all of Carroll Baker's films of the late 60s and early 70's

Seems pretty good so far, and Michael Craig (Mysterious Island) is excellent, but the invasive music is for the birds. I do love London, though.

I love Carroll Baker. I can't believe she sat that close to the edge of a salt cliff.
The White Cliffs Of Dover.
70s CGI I think
It was probably some sort of trickery where she seemed to be sitting near the edge
A salt cliff???A CHALK cliff!🤭🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️🐊🐊🐊
I was thinking the same. The probably used some hidden harness well anchored to the ground,
Lacked one important element: believability. Could qualify as a comedy. Some lovely English scenery and villages along the way.
