Corrupt doctor murders for love, but it's a triple mystery, don't imagine that you know the verdict! Superb, the golden age of television, when it was an art form. Thank you, @ccc!
He did not murder for love. He killed her husband to marry her and get her money. He had faked her heart condition in her medical records for when he would kill her.
I spent about half an hour thinking "I've seen that husband before in something but what?". THEN it hit - he was the Assistant Police Commissioner in an episode of Columbo. GREAT!
Very good movie. Some of the films shot for TV were more interesting than many theatrical releases. The plot was unusual and surprising. Thanks for posting.
I honestly didn't see the ending coming! Marvelous acting and actors. Reta Shaw is always a delight to see. I remember her from Disney's Pollyanna and the TV series The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Most people remember John Forsythe from Dynasty or Bachelor Father, but he also gave an interesting performance in the offbeat Hitchcock movie 🎬 The Trouble With Harry. Richard Kiley was quite a prolific actor from the 60s right up into the 80s. Joseph Campanella was such a presence in The Bold Ones along with Joseph Farentino, Burl Ives, etc. Retro-fabulous!

LOVED John Forsythe in "Dynasty" as Blake Carrington for 220 episodes from 1981 thru 1989! LOVED Barbara Bain as Cinnamon Carter in "Mission Impossible" 1966-1969!
John Forsythe plays a psycho perfectly - Something about this movie I just love, it reminds me of a much simpler more basic time and the acting is so hammy that it’s fun to watch. It’s like an old fashioned 60’s soap opera …. I think it’s terrific.
This is actually a good character and personality study. Arrogance, narcissism, lust for control. It also captures the feel of the era. I was in junior high school the year it was made.
I was 7 yrs old in 1971 and don't remember this movie at all. I vaguely recalled Barbara Bain in reruns on Mission: Impossible as a kid but I really got to know her on Space 1999 when I was 11-12. This movie was fantastic from beginning to end, it was like a 1940s Flim Noir done '70s style.
Interesante comentario, gracias por compartir. Barbara Bain fue una bella y talentosa actriz, especialmente en Misión imposible y Cosmos 1999,junto al gran Martin Landau.
Great story and acting by real professional actors actresses , good story well directed n produced and no cgi bull crap or crazy non human situations .
Very clumsy with forensics, even for 1971. For example, opening the murder scene for re-use by those who might be involved in concealing or planting evidence. It was however a surprisingly intense film in that very few characters played a major part in the plot and the director used darkness to add suspense and frights. I'd give that dog an Oscar.
What an excellent made for TV film that was! Never in a million yeras would I have suspected a double double-cross at the end. I only wish that these films could be produced in the modern day. Thanks for posting. Much appreciated.
Wow, all I can say. Incredible old movie, GREAT cast. Murders in the old movies had to be more subtle and cerebral, minus all the blood and gore, but just as riveting. The 'death' scene would be akin to the shower scene in Psycho. Horrifying but you don't really see a lot. It shows real talent to make everything so creepy without blood and guts everywhere. Kept you riveted to the plot you THOUGHT was the plot. This was a really great movie... and wow again... what an ending!!! Thanks again CCC!!
