    To all that have F150 or up 200 the 90°Elbow next to the dip stick is regular iron and will rust causing the engine to intake metal particles thus trashing your cylinders. Also the nuts that hold the air water deflecter inside the couling also rust and particles are sucked in to engine just had to rebuild my engine with 350 hours. wish I could post pic's. You'll be aware costly venture due to cheap parts used by yamaha.

      @@wazup3333 Probably due it being hydraulic and not a spring tensioner. I don't know for sure, but that would be my guess.

    Thanks for this video. I blew out the upper crankshaft seal on a 2022 115 Yamaha. I managed to put those hair line cracks in the tensioner and have been stressed out about maybe having to replace it. Now that I understand how they work and your reassurance of it not being the end of the world I’ll continue with the project.

    Thank you for your video. I have a 2006 Yamaha F250 and I just changed the timing belt and tensioner pulley today. I torqued the flywheel to 177 ft lbs by using your method of wedging a rag between the bendix and the flywheel and it worked like a charm. Great tip👍

    gday mate one of the best videos i have seen you made it look real easy step by step , im lucky my little 40hp doesnt have a tensioner i think you must just stretch it to get it on , i dont know why people freak out if the timing marks move slightly just move em back and as you showed always turn your engine over by hand when finished to be sure .

    Thank you, well done sir. This is the best video on You Tube I have seen for the Yamaha 150 timing belt replacement. I have been looking at my new timing belt sitting on my work bench for 2 months totally intimidated about tackling that hydraulic tensioner. I now feel relieved, and confident, and will plan to do it soon. Please take pleasure in knowing your video has helped this old man tremendously.

    I had a 150 where the flywheel was stuck on so tight I had to take the crank out with the flywheel and up it in a 20 ton press to get it out. When it popped out it was the loudest explosion ever.

    Thank you, best video ever for replacing a timing belt on a Yamaha 150. Do you have one for the Balancer??? i want to do them at the same time. Also, what is the recommended hours to replace the tensioner? Again great job and very well explained. Yeah the wind noise is a pain, but your video is so awesome, it is worth dealing with it.

    Great video! 🙂My 2008 F150XB service manual recommends replacing the timing belt at 1,000 hours. Was the 500 HR interval necessary due to the belt failing prematurely? Yamaha does recommend that the belt be inspected every 100 hours. Looks easier than I thought it would be.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  4 місяці тому

      That is interesting to know. I had always changed them at this interval when customer’s asked. Possibly different region’s/ countries have different specs for maintenance? The belt looked excellent still. No premature wear.

    Extremely well done thank you. Especially the reminder of 500 hours. What is the time limit, usually there is 500 hours or five years? It is a rubber product after all.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  2 роки тому

      Hey Jay. So probably wise after a certain amount of years. In my head i can’t remember a time spec on them just the 500 hours. If it was old with a short amount of hours i personally would visually inspect it.

    The flywheel can be difficult to remove if it has never been off. A more stout puller like the Powerbuilt #648994 can work better than the usual 3 slot harmonic balancer puller. Use grade 10.2 M8 bolts because they will not stretch when you apply torque. The stator fasteners were combination Philllips-slotted screws on the ones I did, so using a stout slotted screwdriver with vise-grips to turn it will pop them lose. With the tensioner pinned in retracted position, I found it easier to remove it, put the new belt in place, and then reinstall the tensioner.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  Рік тому +1

      Hey! On some models they just lift right off. There is usually 2 10mm bolts with black heads in the middle of the cover. Pull them and it comes off.

      @skunkedagain Рік тому

      @@Schneids15 thanks. Mine have just grommets and no bolts that I could see, and lifting it lightly didn’t seem to be enough. After seeing you do yours, I think I’ll just apply more force. Thanks.

  • @red71gs
    @red71gs Рік тому +2

    PLEASE watch other videos on the tensioner. If you try and release the tensioner with much force you will be buying a 460 dollar tensioner. They must be pulled back gently and very slowly. Other than that its a very good video.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  Рік тому +1

      Hey! Yes… the tensioner must be pulled with constant pressure as it is hydraulic. It takes time for it to go in and constant pressure is what it needs. I did specify this in the video.

    • @williamowen9528
      @williamowen9528 Рік тому

      $460 for the tensioner? Can the pulley be purchased separate from the tensioner?

    After working on Nissan, and Mercedes Benz, and doing endless timing belts, and chains and guides,and tensioners, on 380 sl , and everything else, even an old Dodge Caravan,( what a pain) , this is a breeze. I even replace the snapped timing belt, , on my Deutz engine, in my bobcat, in the customers yard. ( talk about a project) I saw this setup on my motor after popping the cover off, I was like, no way, a timing belt can't be this easy.

    Do all of the pulleys have the timing marks on them?

  • @akinnun
    @akinnun 5 місяців тому +1

    Hi! Would Schneids15 happen to know (or maybe someone here at the comments) that what might cause a timing belt to run at the bottom of the pulleys? I just recently replaced timing belt and tensioner on my Yamaha F150DET (2019) and for some reason the belt is not tracking correctly. I tried moving it back to the center of the pulleys but it immediately comes down when the engine is started.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  5 місяців тому +1

      This is normal. There is a spec I can’t remember and it is only a mm or 2 or something from the bottom of the pulley where they run.

    • @akinnun
      @akinnun 5 місяців тому +1

      But it should not be over the bottom of the pulley? Because mine is maybe 1mm 🤔

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  5 місяців тому

      No it should not be. Should be up 1MM or more. Is it an OEM belt?

    • @akinnun
