It's like in college when I dropped out half-way through of the semester because I wasn't doing well. I took it again the next semester, but now I have a better understanding of how the exams/course/lectures work and the areas I had trouble with clicked for me since I already had an idea as to "what-to-expect".

F.A.I.L - First Attempt In Learning! I wanted to be a software engineer my whole life and when I went to school I failed my second mod and was a little discouraged. It’s important to remember that you are there to get it right, not to be right. It’s more important you be sure you learn and know the material for a passing score than to be upset you didn’t pass. You’re learning this, be kind to yourself and realize you are freakin awesome and you’ll get it before ya know it!👏

Before I worked in digital forensics, I was a network engineer. I still maintain both of my CCNPs (Enterprise, as it is now called, and Security), but I failed one exam for each of those two certifications. I studied and prepped for a very, very long time. Over the many years of working on IT/IS certifications, I can honestly say these were among the hardest I've ever taken. You will prevail.

True, but it's also wireless from the perspective of a vendor who is not really top of the space. Experienced the same annoyance with CCNA. My job is an Aruba shop. Concepts cross over, but if you don't know the ins and outs of their product you fail.

Chuck, I love the enthusiasm but you’ve said you’ve got a hard time studying. So my question to you is how will being live on twitch while studying going to help? Have you considered that the twitch chat might be distracting? I think it’s great that you’re offering to share your experience with your viewers but I don’t see how having such a huge distraction will do you any favours or help you study. I recently watched your video about OpenDNS and it seems as if you should add twitch to your profile of blocked websites. I’m speaking from personal experience and the concepts you’re trying to study are complex and require your full attention and I just feel as if you’re more interested in the process then the outcome (passing your exam) I find it hard to believe that anyone can have a productive study session while they respond to chats and give thanks to those who donate. If I were in your shoes I would dedicate my full attention to your exam right now. Also, don’t wait until January 1st just Start tomorrow or even today and become enveloped in your studying and goal of passing your exam. You’re a busy guy with a family to take care of and I’m assuming a job outside of UA-cam. Maybe it’s the potential lack of income if you’re a full-time UA-camr but I think the best way to study is fully dedicating yourself to your goal and minimizing all distractions. Twitch is definitely a huge distraction and I believe it will only hinder your ability to focus and pass your exam. Regardless though, I wish you all the best on your exam. I look up to you as an IT professional and truly want the best for you. Your dedication to your community and family is one of many reasons I admire you and inspire to be like you! You’ve taught me so much about IT and I just wanted to share my knowledge of studying with you. I’m in no way, trying to tell you what to do. I just wanted to give you something to think about. I’m studying Computer Science at University and so I know how hard studying can be and how distracting even a notification from my phone can be. if you decide to study live on twitch, believe me, I will be there. But I do think you should consider if it will benefit your studying and ability to pass your exam. Anyway, I wish you all the best and good luck with your exam.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff

NetworkChuck, just want to say that I’m sorry you failed the exam man. You can do this sh*t though, you’ve got this. This video did prove helpful to me though personally because I’m actually in the process of going back to school at 29 for Network Security and failing has been something that’s been on my mind a lot with it. I passed my first semester and should be going for Security+ (which is very basic I know) in the spring.
However it’s actually encouraging to know that even people that have done this stuff for years still have the occasional hiccup and hard time helps push me to work even harder at it, so thank you for letting us know this dude. I don’t mean that as an insult in any way, shape, or form either, just that I appreciate the honesty instead of just hiding behind successes like a lot of people do instead of showing the hardships too. So take care man, you can do this crap.

January15th I am so glad I love Wifi. and to be clear wifi in ENCOR is less then wifi in CCNA Wireless back in the day before feb 24 2020. I failed that one just by 1 question. then I bought the wirelless ccna book and studied it. I am sure gained enough, but Cisco killed it then, by not giving certified people any benifit. So I went straight for ENCOR. Yeah got that one, partly on experiance and partly with the stuff I learned from the wifi book. Yes I have done several (20 ish) implementations of wifi controllers from scratch and have allot more experience in sight surveys (100+).
    some practical tips:
    - know some of the basics of the wireless controller interface.
    - know the rule of 10.
    - Know what dBm is used for and how the metric works.
    - know some radiation types of antenna's.
    - and know the new two tier network design based on sd-wan.
    - know routing protocols basics BGP/OSPF.
    - know how to configure an SSID (wpa2 and WPA-enterprise).
if you have some practical experience (2-3 years CCNA+/CCNP level) and the knowledge I described above then you probably good enough to go for it. If you're green on experience you need to flip the topics deeper to have a better understanding of the protocols and how they work just to get it on par with the practical experienced guys.
    to everyone succes!

Hi there. I finished my ccna this year in April 2020 and failed a test or 3. But kept going and passed. Dont stop like you said.
And I didn't do it to get better work. I did it to prove to myself that I can and to learn how networks work. And MOST OF ALL TO PROVE MY TO MY SON it doesn't matter what age you are you can do it. He is 10 this year 2020 and he has received honors in he's school for best academic achievement for haveing 85% to 100% throughout the year.

I can relate; back when I first got my CCNP in 2001, I remember the routing exam's first attempt. I had all the routing protocols down OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, etc. However, BGP was just tricky for me. So, what did I do? I avoided it. I sat down for the exam, and my first question was related to BGP, and would you know it, so was the second one. I got hammered on BGP on that exam. I, of course, failed, went back studied again, this time not ignoring BGP. So, I rescheduled the exam sat down to take the exam, and would you know it, and I got a hole 3 question on BGP. SMH. But I passed and finally sort of understood BGP.
Last year, I sat down to take the CISSP exam; I felt pretty good, maybe 90 percent there. Eh, I guess I was wrong. I failed that one too. Ultimately, I should have felt 100% ready at least but lesson learned. Since, to be honest, I have had a hard time getting back in the mindset to retake it. I think part of it quite honestly is I can't remember stuff as fast as I could when I was younger. When I was younger, I could read something, remember it and understand it. Today I find myself having to re-read what I just read multiple times over, and when it finally starts to stick. I need to get serious about studying again and take the exam. I can't let it beat me.
