    By the way, like, physics should just do away with the whole “Pauli exclusion principle”, and replace it with something more inclusive.

    • @latt.qcd9221
      @latt.qcd9221 2 роки тому +22

      Fermions obey the Pauli exclusion principle; bosons obey the Pauli inclusion principle. Bose-Einstein condensates are an example of the Pauli inclusion principle.

      I liked your comment.. but we should be sensitive, there may be some - what we call half integer spin fermions (*fermions*) - that identify as integer spin bosons. Those *fermions* should be allowed into the boson club, that is, if there are N *fermions* (N>>1) in a system, they should all be allowed to occupy the same energy eigenstate, where all have the same four quantum numbers.
      And if that’s not the case, then I’m just done with physics.. remove it from our universities.

It depends on what exactly you end up researching, but knowing how do to stuff with e.g. Python, Mathematica, C++ will probably be pretty useful. That doesn’t mean that all CS courses will be useful, since physicists don’t typically care about the more theoretical aspects of the subject, but it’s definitely worth learning the basics.

    Hey Andrew, can you please do a video on why you picked theoretical physics over experimental physics, and the difference between the two? Why would someone pick one over the other? Thanks!

      @mastershooter64 2 роки тому +3

      difference between theoretical and experimental is in theoretical you get to work with the math of it and making theoretical predictions of observations. in experimental you get to work with the actual experiments and the data from the experiments.
      Someone would pick one over the other is because they enjoy it, different people enjoy different things. Andrew picked theoretical because he liked it more than experimental.

    Great video Andrew as always. Andrew can I ask I am from England and I’m in high school would you have any advice for an aspiring physicist and mathematician

    Hlo sir, How come the position and momentum are independent variables in Hamiltonian mechanics? Consider SHM Hamiltonian when we change position , Momentum changes right?
    Both are related to each other right?
    Thank you

    Hey Andrew, I'm a senior in Virginia and I'm seeing about any schools that I could apply to other than my main five. Since I want to be a physics major, I want to know if I should apply to ODU. I want to go to VT for physics but from these videos, I've seen, no matter graduate or undergraduate, the physics program is great at the school and I'm wondering if the school would be a good fit for me.

      In undergrad, it kinda doesn’t matter where you go. Virginia just has great schools all around. If you think you’re gonna lean towards nuclear/particle/accelerator physics (don’t worry if you haven’t thought too much about it yet, it’s very early:)), then I’d start recommending specific Virginia schools that have connections with Jefferson lab (ODU, William and Mary, I think George Mason but I can’t remember). Florida state also has a big foot in the door at jlab if I remember correctly but fact check me on that one.UVA is also a big name, but I have a friend who went there for gradschool and had to leave because they couldn’t fund him anymore so I have no idea what’s up with their grad program rn. I don’t really see many folks from Virginia tech in my field, I usually associate that with more of a great path for engineering. That being said, of course I’m biased towards ODU. I got internships both in nuclear and accelerator physics at jlab because I was at ODU.
