As to the fender extension want to thank Steve for this video, yea it took some time but again smooth as silk. Anytime you drill into a perfect paint job it is a little scary. Steve it's good to see new videos! Weather in central Illinois has finally broke and we got our first official weekend of riding in. Hopefully soon I can ride down your way!
Yes sir! Looking forward to it ..weve been out a few times this year already...I had shoulder surgery a few months ago so im taking baby steps getting back on that heavy bike. Looking forward to getting out for a full days ride though.
I definitely understand taking baby steps. I remember when my dad had his heart attack and heart surgery. And while he still had the thing on that he had to wear when he would cough to squeeze his chest together, the neighbor called my mom one day because my dad went out and got on his 03 Electra Glide Classic kicked his leg over it stood it up and fired it up. She thought he was getting he was getting ready to leave lol. Well apparently I should have kept my mouth shut. Thank you Sir! Second time watching one of your videos and I'm impressed with the detail and video clarity. I had an idea of how I'd install the fender extension on my '17 RG Ultra and this was pretty well what I would have done. Easier than having to stick a wrench behind the fender when tightening or loosening! Cheers! Dave...
I have a '05 Road King Classic with Leather Bags. I want to modify the rear fender to look like a street Glide with the Tri Bar tail light and blinkers on the side extension. Is this possible to swap fenders and put a lower extension with Tri Bar light ?
So, winter is over. My parts are back from the painter and I'm re-assembling the bike. I found an easy install (cheating, if you will) for the tri bar light if it comes with Deutsch type connector pins on the wires, which mine did. (35 bucks on Amazon) I looked at the where the wires attach from the stock tail light into the plug. I slipped the connectors into the appropriate spaces. They made a good connection and were kind of snug in there. I have some 3M VHB clear tape so I took a small amount and applied it to the pins and pushed them back in. Works great and they're stuck in there good. No wire cutting or splicing. Just a thought for those who may not necessarily be comfortable cutting their wiring. I am but took the easy way. You could also tin bare wires with solder and try the same thing to see if it works for you. Another side note. I know painters who are wary of after market bags, etc. that require painting because of the finish quality. My painter in the Toronto area has been doing custom hot rods and bikes for 25 years plus and asked me where I got my accessories...extended bags, flared side covers and fender extension. I said Advanblack. He was extremely pleased with the quality and said how easy it was to work on them and paint them. So, if you're looking at customizing your bike, Advanblack parts should do the trick for you!
Thats awesome to hear Dave! Glad you found and shared your trick with us too! We hear that a lot from painters..Our local painters love the stuff...super easy to work on and super easy prep before painting. Thank you again for sharing!
I have the same bike I’m using the same 2014 advan black saddlebags So I wasn’t sure what fender extension to purchase so now I’ll order the 2014 extension
09 to 21 fender extension is one one the same..they are listed by different years due to color choices. Its the exact same extension for all year 09 and up
Good Evening I have an 99 road king and was looking to put on a extension fender and 4.5 Saddlebags. But looking at my bike not sure if it can be done cause of the tour pack and rear seat.
I am putting an extension on a 2015 RK. Will I have to worry about losing the extension while going down the highway if I use the double-sided tape instead of drilling holes in my fender?
the extension is designed to be flush up against the fender..so if you use tape it will leave a gap because the tape is so thick and it wont look right. You don't need to drill 3 holes, that's just how had does it so it keeps the extension flush for the full length of the side panels. I would do at least 2 holes and would not use the tape.
Is the process the same for a 2015 Road King? Do I have to remove the chrome brackets that are already between the bags and fender, of does the extension go over them? Appreciate any help you can provide.
Hey Sean..You can do the same thing with the bags by adjusting the front bracket to line up with the newer style bags however the fender extension you need for an 05 is not this one but the 08 down extension. Its a 7 incher though and longer than these bags...it is installed exactly like this though if you wanted to do it. Instead of using the bracket from HD just line it all up and use 1/4 - 20 bolts and nylock nuts to install.

Hello Steve. Thank you for this video but I do have one question about the antenna . Why can't we just drill a hole in the part and pass the antenna rod through it. ( you could even add a rubber grommet to look more oem.) ? Thanks.
If you are able to talk with the manufacturer of the extension suggest they design one to cover the holes from where a fender tip light was mounted. Instead of the lip going underneath have it go on top the same measurement as the tip light.
If you can get the extension to fit in there properly with that fender tip light then yes you could. It would be strictly a run light though. Double check it will fit first before you start drilling holes.
@@sikbaggers looks nice I know the one on my bike is a long longer but i did see that harley sells one that is 10 inch on there website so I'm going to try that one
yes it is the same install..but if you have a light at the bottom of your fender in that bumper that you have to remove it will have a hole in the fender you cannot cover up. If you don't have a light at the very bottom edge of the fender you will be fine.
can i even get this extension for my 2014 road king since it has the chrome filler panel holes i currently am running the custom dynamics filler panel lights but am looking to get stretched bags so im trying to fig out a way to also install the extended fender
Hey im not sure you will find a pic of that...the leather bags are pretty short and the extension is rather long. This is an extended version of what come on street glides and road glides so even longer than the oem one. You may look for an oem size extension for your bike if you want to run leather bags though. Might match up a little better.
@@sikbaggers Do you you leave that nut loose before sliding up the fender extension then tighten it down once in place? I was dry-fitting it last night and just seemed there was not a enough room to get a flush fit.
Yes..but the fender extension is different than the one shown here...the bikes changed in 2009 to a wider and longer frame..so make sure you purchase one for 08 and older bikes.
yes it will be the same install for ther road king and the ultra...just check the fender tip and make sure you don't have a light down there or you will have a hole behind it that the extension will not cover.
This particular model has the plate mounted under the light. Various year model road kings have the plate up above or below the light bar. You can do a Harley Davidson Plate Relocation Kit - Top To Bottom Swap ...there are several on the market. Some come with a new center lens and some dont. You will need a new center lens because the top of your center lens now has a white cut out for your plate light and that lens cannot be flipped. So you need to look for a center lens with license plate light on the bottom.

Hey, love your videos. I have an 08 Road King and purchased the extended tail piece to accommodate the stretched bags I purchased all from Advan Black. There are no mounting holes for the tail, so I will have to make it work. I was warned by one of the guys at Tech Support that the tail is stretched to 7” in which it kinda looks ridiculous. I was wondering, if at all possible, you could do an install and modification to cut down the tail section?
Hey man....that was was me you talked to at tech support. I had a buddy cut his down and sand it out smooth and have it painted...looked awesome. Just gotta take your time making your lines and cutting.
Thank you for this video brother. I do have a question. Would the filler/extender fit a '05 electra/ultra? I just bought myself a pristine one and the first two things I want done are the extended cases and fender filler.
@@sikbaggers thanks. I found that one earlier. Bummed that it's 7 inch and doesn't have the tri bar slots. I'll just try to get one for 08 and up and modify it.
@@sikbaggers thanks! One more question...is the part of the extension that goes under the very rear of the fender supposed to sit between the fender and the bracket or just sit in front of the bracket? Tight squeeze in between on my king.
@@themotocanuck You ned to loosen the fender bracket nut above where the tri bar light is...this will allow you to slip the corners of the fender extension in between the brack and the fender...then re tighten the nut
I used this one, however the plug thats on it will more than likely not match anything on your bike so you will need to hardwaire it like i did in the video. I still dont know what that plug goes to...nothing Ive tested it on so far. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016Y299JU

I have a custom dynamics brake light and don't really want to tap into it. Also, did you use any kind of paint on the new holes to seal them or just them them bare?
Youre welcome..I do not think there is a plug and play adapter for these...I searched and just decided to tap into the main line. Its not bad just easier with two people ..one probing wires and one hitting the brakes blinkers etc...didnt do anything to the paint...havent had any issues with it.

Excellent information, what bothers me is why doesn't Harley Davidson include the nuts with the bracket. They are so fucking cheap nickel and diming their customers.
It will not...the 08 and older models have a more narrow rear end ....they sell extensions for 08 and older but it will not have the tri bar light at the bottom and most are 7 inch..which is longer than most stretched bags

I just bought myself a pristine one and the first two things I want done are the extended cases and fender filler.
there is a fender extension for the 08 and older models but it is a 7" extension ...doesnt have the tri bar light
@@sikbaggers thanks. I found that one earlier. Bummed that it's 7 inch and doesn't have the tri bar slots. I'll just try to get one for 08 and up and modify it.
@@Moonen100 let me know if the 08 worked out for you on your 05 i have a 06 and want the same look thanks
Awesome video! Do you have a link to the tri bar light you used?

@@sikbaggers thanks!
One more question...is the part of the extension that goes under the very rear of the fender supposed to sit between the fender and the bracket or just sit in front of the bracket? Tight squeeze in between on my king.
@@themotocanuck You ned to loosen the fender bracket nut above where the tri bar light is...this will allow you to slip the corners of the fender extension in between the brack and the fender...then re tighten the nut
You are a Blessing!
Thank you sir..much appreciated. Any questions please let me know.
What tri-bar light did you use?
I used this one, however the plug thats on it will more than likely not match anything on your bike so you will need to hardwaire it like i did in the video. I still dont know what that plug goes to...nothing Ive tested it on so far. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016Y299JU
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Do you know if you can just plug the tri-bar (custom dynamics) into the socket for the OE tip light? I have a custom dynamics brake light and don't really want to tap into it.
Also, did you use any kind of paint on the new holes to seal them or just them them bare?
Youre welcome..I do not think there is a plug and play adapter for these...I searched and just decided to tap into the main line. Its not bad just easier with two people ..one probing wires and one hitting the brakes blinkers etc...didnt do anything to the paint...havent had any issues with it.
My friend has a 2007 Street Glide and complains of the ugly non chrome area where his quick disconnect area is. Harley has improved this look on later models, but I wondered if you knew of an add on to dress this area up on the 2007? Any other comments from Harley riders is welcome!!
Pretty dark to see what you're doing. I know what you did. It was just hard to see. Good explanation though. 🤗
Excellent information, what bothers me is why doesn't Harley Davidson include the nuts with the bracket. They are so fucking cheap nickel and diming their customers.
Hi, will this work on my 2008 Road King?
It will not...the 08 and older models have a more narrow rear end ....they sell extensions for 08 and older but it will not have the tri bar light at the bottom and most are 7 inch..which is longer than most stretched bags
