I love your videos! I’m 5.5 weeks into my lifestyle change for weight loss and I’m down almost 8kg! I have improved my eating habits, eating lots of veggies to bulk up meals, and leaner protein. Some days I do actually struggle to meet my recommended calorie goal but I make sure I do come close to it because I don’t want to stuff up my metabolism, you’re right I am scared of that word! So far I’ve been walking everyday, and swimming and hiking and really enjoying it. I would love to learn some calisthenics once I’m a bit lighter too 😊 thanks for the videos, you’re amazing ❤️

This honestly makes me feel a lot better. I know I want to watch what I eat of course, but this helps me better enjoy and not have food guilt when I eat what I can (because of financial issues). Thank you for putting this into perspective as I continue my journey towards a body that will make me feel good.

when I eat less my body will start bloating, and I crave snacks and fritters and I will gain weight instead of losing it. This makes me frustrates, why even I ate less I still gain weight. Maybe now i need to eat more. Thank you, finally i understand

I always enjoy the information you share-- not only because it's informative, of course, but also because you're so chipper when you share it! Plus, many Americans love British accents, so that's just an additional treat! This video made me stop and do a double take as the header initially caught me off guard....
    "Wait-- eat MORE?!" 😊

Thank you so much, Lucy! This is just what I needed right now. My calorie deficit has been really high in the last 3 months and I have lost quite a lot of weight quickly. However, I recognized that I haven't gained that much muscle mass, even though I work out 5x a week. Also, my energy level is quite low and I haven't been able to lift heavier weights for about 2 weeks. So I will try to eat more from now on and am pretty sure that it will help my weight loss and muscle gain journey. Sending lots of good vibes to you 🙂

I've watched years of videos and gained tons of knowledge and this is one of the best in my opinion. For someone with a little bit of knowledge about the science behind it all this explains it so very well.
One thing you said is so true in general humans are way to impatient to take this approach even with it being the most sustainable and logical.

Thanks Lucy! I definitely needed this video (I’m currently trying to recover from bulimia and I’m really afraid of eating/digesting more food) 😊🙏 On a related topic, I just listened to a couple of interviews you might find interesting with a doctor/scientist (Dr William Li) who’s written a book on how to use certain healthy foods to boost your metabolism. The book is called Eat to Beat Your Diet, and there’s an interview on Dr. Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast and also a nice one on The Doctor’s Kitchen (I really liked him and so went down a rabbit hole 🤓)

Good video! Trying to get enough protein in is a challenge as I don’t eat meat (eat some fish, eggs, dairy). I find meals become too formulaic and structured. End up eating food combinations just to hit macros, which affects enjoyment and palatability. The result is I eat too little for my training. Thank goodness for protein powder! I stir it into yogurt or make smoothies.

I’m vegetarian and I’ve found egg whites (if you live in the US you can get them in a carton), seitan, tempeh and tofu help a lot. Gaz Oakley and rainbow vegan have some good recipes on their channels.

Eating more of nutrient dense foods .. low calorie is not necessary healthier high fat yogurt or greek yogurt is better for you than a sweetened low fat yogurt like vitalinea on a daily basis...
Eating high calorie nuts or cheese may be better for you than having no sugar cookies or no sugar candy...

Dunno why, I actually saw the opposite effects. I weight trained with dumbbells 3 times a week for about 2 months, and over time, I had to reduce the weights, not increase them...
I don't think calorie restriction was causing it, cause I actually gained some fat, according to inbody scan...

Were you eating more to make up for the amount of exercise you were doing? some people find they get more hungry so inadvertently eat more after exercising. If you were in a true calorie deficit, you categorically wouldn't have been putting on fat - it's just not possible, so you may not have been accurately tracking your calories (drinks count too, which a lot of people forget to add) x
