I was a massive cream fan, I got on a train at liverpool street in the early 70's and I saw him walk by. Once the train was on the move I went to the Buffett car, and he was sat there We chatted for a while, until he got off at Colchester, he was happy to chat, the time flew by.

This man was, fundamentally instrumental in the jazz & later ‘rock’ scene.
If you were privileged to see & hear him sing then you’ll know what I mean.
Jack was full of presence, had a fantastic vocal delivery and was a great bassist/composer.
Extremely talented, he continued to elevate his talents through working his craft.
With all that talent he had in his bag (as a youngster)pushing himself to the front of the cue to be heard is paramount: thank God Jack had that too, belief in himself.

Cream was my favorite group of the late '60s, with three superior instrumentalists. Jack's voice and songwriting took it all to a higher plane, speaking somehow to my inner self.

I saw Jack Bruce in concert on November 24,1972 at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.
Bruce was a member of "West, Bruce And Laing" at that time.
It was a mind blowing experience standing at the front of the stage and listening to Bruce's Lead Vocal!
What a voice!
I'll never forget a female fan screaming "Jack!", "Jack!" with her arms flailing trying to touch Jack!

I'll never ever forget seeing cream at the Grande Ballroom. In the late 60s. Gave a cigarette to him and lit it for him while on stage. Great memories!

Jack's bass playing, especially his monster performances on live recordings with Cream, hugely influenced my own ambitions as a bass player.
When I was in my early 20's Cream was the band to follow, Some of my friends travelled to wherever they played. I can really appreciate their music. Unfortunately I never had the spare cash to go with them. Looking back I wish that I had really made the effort. This is a great Channel. I have become quite hooked on it

Jack was the best fretless bass player i have ever seen/heard...he was a huge part of Creams sound with his EBS bass...a real bass players bass player...he made playing fretless bass look so easy & sounded so good....RIP Jack Bruce 🪦🎸
after seeing the Cream in '68, I went out and bought an EB-3. Been playing ever since... thanks Jack, RIP.
I've still got my vinyl LP of Why Dontcha by West, Bruce & Laing. Seen Lesley West with his band in the mid 70's at a small club in Dallas, Tx. I got his autograph there between sets when he stepped outside to smoke a cig. Seemed like a down to earth guy, at the time.

Some exciting news: Jack's brilliant _Songs for a Tailor_ is being reissued in a box set including 2 CDs & 2 Blu-Ray discs, with new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes by Stephen W Tayler. Also included on the Blu-Ray is the 1970 documentary film _Rope Ladder to the Moon._
I think _Songs_ and _Harmony Row_ are two of the most underrated records of the period. I dearly love them both to this day. Very excited to hear these new mixes.

I was 15 when I bought and played many many times Songs for a Tailor, what an amazing musician!
Fortunate to see J. Bruce twice. Cream's farewell tour in 68 and again in 69. In 69 at Fillmore West as headliner Jack Bruce & Friends with Coryell and Mitch Mitchell. On the same bill was Mountain and the Winter Brothers. RIP with all your efforts to create the best and play with all the greats.
How loud were they?
Bruce and friends were not loud. As they were playing jazz the sound was level and not extreme. Mountain was extremely loud with West holding feedback notes until your head hurt and smiling the whole time.
What can I say that hasn't been said? A huge influence since 1965 - thx to him I picked up Bass!
I even remember hearing about his passing - it was a very sad day 😢

For those who haven't seen it, Tony Palmer made a film about Jack called "Rope Ladder to the Moon". It is brilliant and gives a great insight into Bruce's many talents.

Songs for a Taylor is one of my favorite albums.
I bought a 7 cd & dvd box set last year.
It’s got the gig with Mick Taylor Fromm Old Grey show with a bunch of different live CDs.
My first show I saw with my wife the Always wanted to do this tour
Then the tour with Ginger.

I started on violin 🎻 then to acoustic bass as well. Then guitar and bass, electric!
Jack was my hero and I got a Gibson EB like Jack's except long scale because of the acoustic bass. It only had the neck pick up so I added the bridge and eventually put a "Leo's" tail piece on it (of Leo's Music in Oakland).
That bass was a monster. I caused the police to be called to many house parties!

Jack was an immense talent - inventing the "bass lead" guitar and has one of the best male singing voices in the world.
The Years from 1966 to 1987 were the most incredible time period with so many talented bands emerging on the scene, sadly it will never happen again.
I totally agree - to be revisited In a future dimension perhaps. Energy doesn't disappear but reinvents.

Amazing musician with an amazingly diverse and prodigious catalog. I tried to keep track of how many different musicians he collaborated with, but gave up pretty early on because it was getting in the way of enjoying this excellent video. I bought Harmoney Row in 1972 I was 13 played the hell out of that album really though no body else I knew were listening to it and I grew up in the Rock and Roll Capital Cleveland ohio

There is Jack with Alex Korner Blues Band, on a white stand up bass! Amazing to see.
"Harmony Row" was Jack's greatest solo album. I still play it. "West Bruce and Laing" (the first album) is a great addition to Jack's catalog. Jack's autobiography was far and away better than Clapton's or Baker's.

Ironically, despite personality/musical conflicts, Jack found himself working with Ginger Baker, a superbly gifted drummer, periodically throughout his lengthy career.
And the connection to jhon Mails Blues breakers ! Wow....didnt know that !

I'm from Glasgow, and Jack and my Father shared some mutual friends. At one funeral in the late Seventies-early eighties, Jack was found shooting up in the toilet of the crematorium. Poor guy who's addiction essentially killed him

I saw Jack in 1969 at the Fillmore West in San Francisco as Jack Bruce and friends... not so good.. they were just jamming but all great musicians. As a bass player I learned a lot from him on many of the records he played on.. brilliant.. but his lifelong drug addict that really turned me off to him for many years. RIP Jack
Bruce was remarkable, for his tenacity in maintaining a career, despite his heavy drinking and drugging...a shame that he was so irascible, and short-tempered.

At 15: I spent 20 mins playing that bass at NAMM and asked if it was for sale....then they told me who it belonged to.
Jack Bruce didn't leave the Graham Bond Organisation -- Ginger Baker fired him! But Jack felt that was unfair since he was one of the band's founders, and he would just show p and play, even though he was "fired". 😁

Cream sound perfect. Great memories 1970s Cream South end Mull Kintyre owners Sanda Island. Kintyre sound 70s rocks on Davaar nights sing along party other locations moonlight on the sand Atlantic waves crashing in 'Kintyre mist fun ok!. There's no truth in this rumour. John never said this. It was a joke by a journalist. Proof? John had Ringo as drummer on the Plastic Ono Band album, which tells you all you need to kbow about what John thought of Ringo's drumming.

So he broke up Cream due to constant fights with the drummer but then kept coming back to that drummer for multiple new bands throughout his career…Must have been a good drummer.
