The JASSM-ER is also the basis for Long Range Anti-Ship Missile, which is a JASSM-ER with a new seeker. The Air Force used the B-1 Lancer to complete a captive carry test of an LRASM to ensure the bomber can carry it, as both missiles use the same airframe. The LRASM was not originally planned to be deployed on the B-1, being intended solely as a technology demonstrator, but in February 2014 the Pentagon authorized the LRASM to be integrated onto air platforms, including the Air Force B-1, as an operational weapon to address the needs of the Navy and Air Force to have a modern anti-ship missile. In August 2015, the Navy officially designated the air-launched LRASM as "AGM-158C". The LRASM achieved Early Operational Capability on the B-1B in December 2018.

@@Raul_Menendez well there's no need to carry 40 AMRAAM's, it's better if a few F-15EX carry them which are faster, more agile and can defend themselves. The B-1b with 40 tons of carrying capacity is better at carrying the bomb to target/launch regions
@@schweizerluchs7146 right. That's usually the case. But, even if this is equipped with AGM-158 (Is it B because it is ER?), How do you guide it to the target?
@@migsusu-1617 well if you want to launch a JASSM-ER from Max LAR you need to Preplan it anyways, there'll be no need for a Targeting pod bc it can't look to a target 500 miles away.
Read the description guys it's not a Targeting pod, it's a AGM-158 JASSM-ER
Schweizer Luchs >> Wicked.

My dad manufactures cutting tools (reamers and taperloks) for the B1 at Tinker AFB 👍🏼
This is one of the coolest looking bomber
The B-1 is one of my favorite bombers in the Air Force.
Most beautiful airframe in the sky today...

Phoenix is outdated, the AIM120-8 "D" can reach about the same range

No way, AGM-158 can be installed at the hard point where AN / AAQ-33 is installed ...

I don't think it can carry the LANTIRN, the forward stations is for the Sniper XR pod usually

@@schweizerluchs7146 I see ... JASSM must have been GPS-guided, so in that case you would have to send the target coordinates in advance.
Biggest fighter jet ever.
I don't know if this is true but the Congress is trying to get rid of it and the b2 and a10
The B-1 and B-2 are being replaced by the B-21 Raider. The A-10 is getting upgrades and won't be getting retired anytime soon.
The bone.
That plane is huge! Mach 1.2 is fast for a plane this size!👍👍
Yeah it is !
What missile?
I never know B-1B has external mount point. Love this jet!
